The clan leaders and officials who wished to approach Kwan Mok Man looked around awkwardly. All of them held major roles in the South, but due to Kwan Mok Man’s status, they had to adhere to his words and ignore his existence as they were in no position to disobey the man nor did they dare to show their displeasure. After much hesitation, the figures chose to stay and watch Kwan Mok Man from afar.

“Good day, boy.” Kwan Mok Man sat down, trembling slightly. He looked no different from an ordinary man, and that was exactly how Chui Yim viewed him. Chui Yim was one to ignore status and spoke to Chor Shing Chit, Tse Yu Bak, and even Bak Wun, his previous principal at Riding Clouds Academy, without honorifics.

“Hello. You look sick, remember to take care of your health.”

Despite saying this, Chui Yim never stopped stuffing food in his mouth. Insincere was the best word to describe his current behaviour.

Kwan Mok Man did not mind Chui Yim’s “rudeness” as he too enjoyed his food. “I’m Kwan ShanChuen’s father, and I’ve heard a lot about you two from my son. Thank you for taking care of Shan Chuen in school.”

“No, Sir Kwan.” Kam Chin Kee stood up immediately. “Brother Kwan is the outer sect’s class leader.

He’s the one taking care of us and all the additional tasks our mentor has for him. We should be thanking him instead.”

“Yeah, that’s right.” Chui Yim nodded.

Kwan Mok Man looked at the teens with hollow eyes. “Anyways, what institution do you boys have in mind after graduating from the outer sect?”

“Certainly the Cloud Palace, Sir,” Kam Chin Kee replied.

“Mm, good choice. But if things don’t work out, there’s another alternative route for you both to take.” Kwan Mok Man nodded and caressed his wooden walking stick. “The crown prince badge.”

It did not really bother Chui Yim, but the smile disappeared from Kam Chin Kee’s face instantly. “Is Sir Kwan perhaps here to speak for His Highness?”

Kwan Mok Mun shook his head slowly. “It’s just a passing remark. I’ve heard about you boys and your great potential. You will both definitely be strong pillars of the South when you grow up. The Lam Dynasty lacks and needs talents like both of you. Since His Highness will be recruiting a team of his own, it’s a good chance to take.”

Kam Chin Kee shook his head silently in reply. Chui Yim on the other hand spoke up, “We have different goals, it’s unsuitable to work together.”

Kwan Mok Man was slightly shocked to hear this, but he did not express it. Lam Zaa did not send Kwan Mok Man here, but because of Kwan Mok Man loyalty towards the Lam Dynasty and after learning Lam Zaa had given Chui Yim a crown prince badge as well as Kam Chin Kee’s potential, he came to give them advice.

This could not even be considered as roping the boys in. Potential was only valuable when it took form.

Kwan Mok Man might have already retired from politics, but he was still deeply related to the Lam Dynasty and held great status. It was impossible for someone like him to rope the boys in, he only spoke to them out of curiosity.

“It’s okay, take your time to consider,” he said and did not take Chui Yim’s words to heart. They were still children after all!

After Kwan Mok Man left under Kwan Shan Chuen’s help, the attention was left on Chui Yim and Kam Chin Kee. The teenage boys were fairly well-known to start with, but the important figures never cared much about them to start with.

To people of their state, potential wasn’t the most important.

But seeing that even the Blue Sky Gentleman was trying to get to know the boys, they stopped belittling them.

Just then, a voice rang across the place; “Princess Mei Mei has arrived.”

The crowd turned over subconsciously to see a teenage girl.

Females generally matured early, so despite her young age, Lam Mei Mei was already stunningly gorgeous. She arrived at today’s grand party with a blue robe only revealing her milky white hands and neck. Lam Mei Mei also had her blue hair tied neatly behind her.

She inherited her mother’s – Southern belle Lee Fei Yin – beauty, and by adding the blue hair and orbs unique to the Lam Clan, her beauty was unique.

The crowd watched her stroll in with her shadow, Suen Ling, following behind. They were obviously heading towards Kam Chin Kee and Chui Yim.

It was obvious who she was heading for because, due to how the boys ate, not many people dared to sit near them, leaving the table for themselves. Therefore, the crowd easily identified that she was heading for the boys.

Some people immediately knew what was going on, as despite the strict palace rules, nosy servant maids and eunuchs or spies of officials and clan leaders were unavoidable, and the news of Lam Mei Mei favouring Kam Chin Kee since she was young was old news.

Now, the rumours were proven true.

Lam Mei Mei glared at the bald Chui Yim before speaking to Kam Chin Kee gently. “Brother Kam, how have you been recently?”

Hearing how nicely Lam Mei Mei spoke, Kam Chin Kee left all past unhappiness behind. “Great. I’ve been eating well and even gained weight.” He laughed. However, he also noticed the unfriendly glare Lam Mei Mei gave Chui Yim.

Sigh… She’s still as spoiled as ever…

“That’s great to hear. After Brother Kam left and Mei Mei was grounded in the palace, Mei Mei missed Brother dearly. I am happy and at ease to know that my Brother Kam is doing well.” Her words left all that were eavesdropping in utter disbelief.

It seemed that… Princess Mei Mei was courting Kam Chin Kee! A few months ago, the world used to mock the nameless Kam Chin Kee and call him the leech of the imperial family, but he was now one of the most famous cultivators of his generation. They couldn’t help but gasp at how great Princess Mei Mei’s eyesight was.

Cheuk Kwun and Woo Nim watched all that was happening at the side.

“I hate everything that’s taking place in front of my eyes,” Woo Nim, a woman of few words, suddenly said. She left Cheuk Kwun shocked, but he did not reply.

“I’m disgusted at how fake and sneaky they are. Now I understand why none of you were willing to play the role of mentor.”

“You’re still young. It’s good to gain experience regarding such situations.” Cheuk Kwun shook his head. This conversation was transmitted secretly so that even the disciples standing right behind them could not hear.

“I guess that’s exactly the reason why only one person qualified for Cloud Palace in the last few decades. How many born in the outside world are unsullied by mud?

“This worldly experience is best for you, who grew up in Cloud Palace. It’s a key point to help you improve.”

Woo Nim nodded. She understood everything Cheuk Kwun said, but she still didn’t like what she was experiencing. Growing up as the second teacher’s assistant, she would rather cultivate and tour the world with the second teacher than be involved in the dirty politics and games of important figures.

“That’s why one of these two boys stands a high chance of making it into Cloud Palace.” Cheuk Kwun

looked at Chui Yim and Kam Chin Kee with a deep gaze.

“I didn’t know Senior Brother Cheuk thinks so highly of those kids.” Woo Nim gasped.
