The hours flew past. The same four gliphists drew their gliphs repeatedly, only to fail.
But they weren’t disheartened as they repeated their same steps, shutting their eyes to continue building their gliph. When the two-hour mark arrived, both Yuen Yau and Ha Yu Bing opened their eyes, finally drawing their gliphs for the first time.
Ha Yu Bing’s gliph strings were glacial blue, like her master Wong Kwun, who cultivated the same Snowy Wind Style. It was one of their institution’s secret grade four cultivation styles.
On the other hand, Yuen Yau’s gliph strings were brown. Since their energliph movement was blocked, it was difficult for the spectators to determine his cultivation style. A few important figures guessed that he practised the Buddhist’s Universe Divine style that his principal Mute found in an ancient tomb.
Even though it was just a grade four cultivation style, it was comparable to grade five styles, as rumours said that after reaching its peak, one could easily cause great earthquakes!
Cultivators could cultivate any style, regardless of gliphists or gliphers. Cultivation styles weren’t limited to a single type of cultivator. Everyone was now anticipating the effects of Yuen Yau’s gliph.
There were many gliphs in this world, but they never deviated from the rules of heavens and earth. Wind, earth, fire, and water-attributed gliphs were the most common. This might be due to cultivation styles obtaining energy from heaven and earth to generate energliph.
Some good examples were the Divine Walker gliph of Shadow Forge Hall, the legendary Northern Divine Speed Gliph, and Imperial Guard Nightwalker Kan Hang’s Embroidered Cloth…these were some examples of the less popular gliphs. However, no gliphs were inferior or superior to another; it was merely the skill of the cultivator that mattered.
The Divine Walker gliph didn’t have any elemental attribute, but it was one of the best gliphs to boost one’s speed.
As for Old Ngai’s Thousand Mountain and Streams formation that was passed down long ago, it was a dual water and earth-attributed gliph, which made it extremely powerful. The gliph Yuen Yau drew was of the earth-attribute, while Ha Yu Bing’s gliph was water-attributed.
Six out of eight participants had started testing their gliphs, and only Kong Yau and Mung Si remained seated as if in their own world.
Fail!
Fail!
Fail!
Gritting her teeth, Ha Yu Bing kept going despite her repeated failures. She was born to a clan of gliphers; the Ha Clan boasted generation after generation of outstanding gliphers that were knife-wielding demons. Unfortunately, their future clan leader was a gliphist.
Yes, they saw this negatively. Many others would be ecstatic if they could become a gliphist, but not the young Ha Yu Bing who received weird stares from her clan after knowing she was a future gliphist.
She thought of becoming a glipher, but her father shook his head after her chamber check and told her that this was the path God had chosen for her, and she should do her best regardless.
As she grew older, the situation got worse. It didn’t get better even after she broke through to the single-gliphic state as she witnessed her clan’s elders being rude to her father, whose hair was slowly whitening with age.
Thus, with her character, she scolded the elders whenever she met them. However, she was just a rebellious kid to them, who treated her like a commodity, arranging a marriage for her and Fok Fung of the growing Fok Clan to secure the clan’s status.
If not for Wong Kwun and Siu Suet, who protected her in school, she would’ve been pestered to death by Fok Fung constantly harassing her.
She was unwilling to give in to fate, but what could she do?
Within the ball of light, Ha Yu Bing was drenched in sweat as she cultivated and pushed herself to her limit. If there was somebody else with her in the ball of light, they would feel a cold aura from her as the ground inside the ball of light started to freeze. She bit her lips and stared at the gliph in front of her.
Stroke after stroke, it was as if a masterpiece was being formed.
Boom! In an instant, the ball of light vanished!
A sharp, cold aura flowed out, activating the gliph formation around the arena! Wong Kwun stood up subconsciously, a gentle expression in her eyes that were staring at Ha Yu Bing.
“She created her personal gliph?” Even Grandma Chin Shu was slightly taken aback by this situation. Personal gliphs were an odd existence. It could be said to rely on the gliphist’s character and beliefs. For example, Mung Si’s Inferno Phoenix showed her phoenix-like arrogance within her heart.
When a personal gliph was created, it would release a special aura that only gliphists with personal gliphs could feel; a wave connecting the gliphist and the gliph. But this was why gliphists ended up seriously injured if their personal gliphs were destroyed. Ordinary gliphs would just vanish, returning their energy to heaven and earth. But when a personal gliph was destroyed, the gliphist would be equally affected. In minor cases, gliphist would only be mentally injured. In extreme cases, they would lose their mind and life!
The important figures on the platform all turned to Grandma Chin Shu. Ha Yu Bing was a member of the Great Book Academy, and it wasn’t appropriate for them to comment. “What should we do, Grandma Chin Shu?”
“What is there to do? This is normal.” Grandma Chin Shu had already expected this. “It’s rare for single-gliphic gliphists to have personal gliphs, and most are created under pressure.”.
“My rules were to restrict those who had already created their personal gliphs. It’s common sense; if the Northern girl just revealed her personal gliph, how will the rest compete?”
Grandma Chin Shu’s calm left the crowd speechless. Had she already foreseen this? They thought to themselves secretly.
In reality, Grandma Chin Shu was delighted. She thought that the possibility of this happening, so she used rules to limit personal gliphs. Now, the first participant to create her personal gliph was Wong Kwun’s disciple, which was great news!
Just like Cheuk Kwun said, the earlier a gliphist created their personal gliph, the simpler their path would be in the future. Every gliphist who created their personal gliph in the single-gliphic state became powerful figures.
Grandma Chin Shu had secretly wanted to let Ha Yu Bing, Kong Yau and Mung Si compete. Now, she was thinking of putting Ha Yu Bing on her academy’s list of important disciples. At this moment, Ha Yu Bing was much more important than even Siu Suet and Fok Fung, the best disciples of the Great Book Academy!
