Kam Chin Kee watched the pair helplessly. He had long heard of Ping Chi from Chui Yim and was curious about him. “I’ve long heard about Doctor Odd Ping Chi’s magnificent skills and legacy of writing countless medicinal books.”.

“Oh, so you’re the famous Kam Chin Kee?” Ping Chi eyed Kam Chin-Kee and spoke calmly. Chui Yim and Ping Chi seemed to hate each other, but he actually doted on Chui Yim. Just look at all his gifts; the Thirty-Six Night Lunar Needles,  Nine-Dragons Flame Gathering Cauldron and even the Poorest Elixir. Ping Chi didn’t even blink before gifting them all to Chui Yim.

Thus, he felt a need to test the person Chui Yim was close to. But being in his second reincarnation, Kam Chin Kee expected this. “Haha, I’m undeserving of that reputation.”

“Hey, watch your attitude, old man! Chin Kee’s my brother!”

I barely commented, and you’re already taking his side! What did I dote on you for? Ping Chi’s expression sunk, but he knew Chui Yim was the perfect disciple. Therefore, he swallowed his displeasure. “I guess you’re all grown up, huh? So grown up that your medicinal skills have degraded!”

“Didn’t you hear the rumours about me?” Chui Yim replied confidently. “I performed gliph changing successfully and am now a great master!” Even Ping Chi wore a proud look upon hearing him as besides his skills, all the other skills he performed while saving Chor Kwong Laan were adapted from his new book, Sealing Gliphs and Mending Chambers.

Even though Chui Yim gave him the idea, Ping Chi was the one that came up with the technique based on his incredible knowledge and glipheon experience. Whenever Ping Chi wrote a book, he recalled his skills multiple times to deepen his understanding, just like how students without talent would memorise their textbooks. In terms of knowledge, even the Divine Doctor Mo-Yung Yin was no match for Ping Chi.

When Chui Yim successfully used the technique from ‘Sealing Gliphs and Mending Chambers’, he validated the method Ping Chi had hypothesised in his books to a certain extent. The incident brought great pride to Ping Chi and put a big smile on his face, as many stared at him enviously and admiringly when they saw him. This thought made Ping Chi pretend to huff.

“You got lucky. What about alchemy? You must have neglected that’s why you aren’t representing your school in the alchemy segment, am I right? Kuen Hip’s useless disciple would’ve never made it otherwise.”

“How could you tell?” Chui Yim was stunned.

Ping Chi huffed so loudly that smoke seemed to blow out his nostrils. “Alchemy and Medicine are intertwined, and we all take medicine as our main focus with alchemy as its support. However, some don’t think this way. For example, Yip Luk Ching. She has a great understanding of this field and focuses on alchemy. She will most likely win unless others from Southern Ping are participating.”

Just then, Kan Hang arrived with Lam Ming Sum. He treated Ping Chi very respectfully, unlike Chui Yim.

“Greetings, Doctor Ping.”

“Mm,” Ping Chi replied calmly. “You’re recovering well. We’ll have another session later, and after seven more doses of medicine, you’ll be fully recovered.”

“Thank you, Doctor Ping!” Kan Hang bowed with a huge smile while Lam Ming Sum stared at Ping Chi with her fox-like eyes.

“Are you the glipheon that treated Uncle Kan Hang?”

Ping Chi was shocked to see Lam Ming Sum. “You are…Princess Ming Sum? You’re something else, huh? Kidnapping a princess out of the palace.”

“She forced me to bring her along.” Kan Hang smiled bitterly.

Shocked, Lam Ming Sum scooted over to Chui Yim subconsciously. “Old fox, can’t you speak softly? You scared her!” Chui Yim glared at Ping Chi before turning back to Lam Ming Sum again. “Ming Sum, can you make me some snacks?”

“Sure!” Lam Ming Sum replied cheerfully.

“I want chicken wings!” Kam Chin Kee added. With that, Lam Ming Sum skipped off happily towards the kitchen.

Ping Chi was dumbfounded at the scene before him; he would have thought she was Chui Yim’s servant maid if he had never seen Princess Ming Sum’s painting!

“Old fox,  I have something to ask you.” Chui Yim waved as Lam Ming Sum went to prepare the food and led Ping Chi to his workshop. Ping Chi eventually calmed down as he learned from Kan Hang that Chui Yim and Lam Ming Sum were childhood friends.

“Hmph, what do you have up your sleeves this time?”

Chui Yim told Ping Chi everything about the Greater Blazing Sun gliph, his flame-like clear heart and weird, burning hair. However, Ping Chi’s first question when he saw the gliph was, “Who tattooed this gliph for you?”

Chui Yim was unable to answer him. He knew Chui Tin wasn’t ordinary, so he dared not reveal his identity. After noticing Chui Yim’s hesitation, Ping Chi didn’t force him to answer and continued. “I’m not a good glipher. I could only defeat the Yellow Spring Lady because I had the Southern Mountain Elixir. Thus, I can only understand your situation from a glipheon’s perspective.”

Chui Yim nodded because he needed to understand the situation that he was in. He knew that to fully control his body, he needed to consult Ping Chi. It was the same logic; as a blacksmith, he needed to grasp every mineral. This was why he started researching minerals at the age of six.

And now, he needed to understand his body to decide if he should become a glipher or glipheon.

After a long pause, Ping Chi started slowly. “If I’ve guessed right, your innate chamber has become one with the Heaven’s Flame. The Heaven’s Flame isn’t of this world, it’s a divine fire, and nobody has ever tried to fuse it with their body. You’re the first and probably the only person to ever experience this. After that merge, you became extremely strong and grew hair…No wonder you nearly crushed my shoulders today…Cough…” Ping Chi didn’t forget to make unpleasant comments, but Chui Yim couldn’t be bothered to retort as he listened carefully.

“With your heart chamber as your main chamber, you’ll see an improvement in every aspect of your physical body. This is because your heart is where all your blood goes, pumping blood to every part of your body.”

Chui Yim nodded. He had read about this in medicinal books as well. “What you mean to say is… that the combination of my heart and the Heaven’s Flame has changed my blood?”
