Under Ping Chi’s green flame, an obvious layer of grey smoke dispersed from the elixir, revealing its actual appearance, a dark green elixir with light spinning around.

“This is just an ordinary, grade-one returning spirit elixir. Since it can regenerate energliph, it’s an elixir that every alchemist learns. I’m sure that more than half of you present are confident in refining it. However, I added the thousand ash powder to it.”

The crowd had heard of this powder, but some frowned as they couldn’t understand the use of this conventional powder.

“The thousand ash powder is made of a few types of poisonous gliphic plants and is mainly used as a basic ingredient to refine poisonous elixirs. Consuming the powder would leave the person in a state of seizure, but it won’t threaten his life.

“Due to its strong smell, it was able to cover the original smell of the elixir. It was even said that in the past, after obtaining treasures, cultivators would cover its aura with the thousand ash powder to prevent robbery or theft. However, the scent of the elixir couldn’t be totally covered, and it depends on the alchemist’s skill to identify the scent.”

Now, it dawned on the crowd.

“It was just a simple refining spirit elixir that I believe many of you have experience refining. So why did so many participants get this question wrong?” Ping Chi smiled.

“The answer is simple. It’s because none of you paid attention to the elixir you refined. I can identify any elixir below grade four with just one sniff, as well as its rough effects and ingredients. Furthermore, I only need a single sniff to determine the age, quality, or any changes made to a gliphic plant accordingly. This is because I have a strong foundation that I carefully built up.” Ping Chi said, not even slightly arrogant.

“Honestly, I’m surprised by the results. I deliberately lowered the difficulty of this competition by using the foundational refining spirit elixir, yet many still failed to recognize it…Why are you still complaining?”

Ping Chi was being nice, but many understood his hidden message. How dare you make a fuss when I picked such an easy question? With that, the participants flushed red in embarrassment and left.

Indeed, they had no right to stay anyways. Ping Chi was already very nice with his words, and it didn’t make sense for an alchemist to not recognize such a basic elixir. Look at how confidently Yip Luk Ching, Woo Hung and the others answered. This was the gap between the talented alchemists and mediocre ones.

Sze Fung didn’t mind how hastily the competition ended as the alchemists present would be able to tell that Ping Chi’s method was the fairest of them all. He stood up and invited Ping Chi to stay at the Metallic Blood War Gate. “Senior Ping, would you like to stay at our sect for these few days?”

Ping Chi glanced at him before looking at Chui Yim, still massaging his shoulders unwillingly. “Thank you, Principal Sze, I apologize, but I must reject your offer. As Chui Yim’s master, I must still check my unfilial disciple’s progress.

“Senior Ping’s disciple is indeed an outstanding youth! There has never been anybody who has managed to step into the great master realm of both medicine and forging at the same time. Moreover, the two fields are polar opposites. He’ll definitely be a true elite in the future!” Sze Fung understood Ping Chi immediately and started to praise Chui Yim.

Chui Yim stared at Sze Fung in shock. He was glaring at me like he wanted me dead yesterday. But now, he’s acting like some benevolent elder. Is there something wrong with his brain?

But Chui Yim didn’t know that Sze Fung was Lung Wai Yuet’s eldest direct disciple, which meant that Lee Bak was his junior brother. He wanted to buy the shield from Chui Yim for Lee Bak, his junior brother, who uses a sword and shield. But yesterday, Sze Fung discovered that the shield was made especially for Lee Bak. After hearing more about Lee Bak’s and Chui Yim’s deal, Sze Fung now liked Chui Yim greatly.

Moreover, Lee Bak was friends with Chui Yim, so Sze Fung no longer disliked Chui Yim; all that was left was his admiration. He couldn’t help but gasp at the fact that before Chor Huet Zhin passed on, he chose to impart the Bloody War Strike intent to Chui Yim, which made him half his descendant.

Indeed my lifelong enemy. He picked a truly great descendant!

Sze Fung was in a great mood, but not Chui Yim. Before he could speak, Ping Chi’s voice was sent directly into his mind. “You better not embarrass me in front of the crowd, boy! Staying at your place makes it easier for me to treat Kan Hang! Make the right choice!”

Ping Chi’s threat left Chui Yim in an extremely bad mood, but he could only answer obediently. “Please stay at my humble abode, master. It’s my duty as your disciple to help house you, and I have many questions about medicine I wish to clarify.”

“What an obedient kid!” Sze Fung stared at Chui Yim happily. “Smart yet humble, senior Ping is blessed to have such a disciple! I’ll not bother you two from catching up anymore.”

“Haha, see you later.” Ping Chi smiled so happily that his wrinkles relaxed, leaving the Metallic Blood War Gate with Chui Yim.

“You’d better watch out, you old fox. You’ll regret taking advantage of me!”

“Hmph, don’t forget you still need me to treat someone. And please, you’re only in the great master state; that’s nothing to be proud of. There’s still much you don’t know!”

The both of them argued at a volume so no one besides them could hear.

Watching the duo leave slowly, Sze Fung was greatly envious of how close the master-disciple pair was. He now dotes on Chui Yim like a junior, and this reminded him of his useless disciple… “Song Hau! You will practice a thousand more sets tonight!”

A sorrow-filled cry was heard amongst the Metallic Blood War Gate disciples.

…………

As soon as the pair returned to Chui Yim’s residence, they threw the formalities away. “Why did you come here, old man!” Chui Yim mumbled unhappily and stopped Yeung Chun from serving Ping Chi tea. “Brother Yeung, don’t waste it! This tea is too expensive.”

Yeung Chun could only stand rooted to the ground, confused. Ping Chi sneered and snatched the tea cup over. “Ungrateful boy that acts rudely even after taking so much from me! Hey, this tea isn’t bad.” When Ping Chi turned to Yeung Chun, he smiled happily, unlike when he spoke to Chui Yim.
