“Stupid body… If not for you, my New Rich project would’ve been much easier… I could just make grade-four gliph weapons!” Chui Yim mumbled as he eyed Kam Chin Kee. “If this annoying kid didn’t trigger me…”

Tears similarly welled up in Kam Chin Kee’s eyes, whose experiences in this world had been equally stressful for him since day one. As a human who had reincarnated twice, Kam Chin Kee had figured out his situation in no time. Rather than replying, he spoke slowly, “I was born to a family of farmers, and on the day of my birth, the entire village was massacred by unknown gliphers.”

“My hometown was one of the largest agricultural villages in the South. We were the entire country’s food source. The annihilation of such a village naturally garnered the attention of the entire South; I was the only survivor.

“The Lam dynasty was enraged, but the culprits had disappeared into thin air and were never found. The most popular theory was that the culprits were Northerners who snuck into the South and returned after completing their mission. That day, the Red River ran red with blood.

“Lam Chun then announced to the world that he’d adopt me as his son. I became the most well-known orphan in the world,” Kam Chin Kee mocked. “To everyone, I am a lucky farmer’s son who became the Emperor’s adopted son and enjoy a luxurious lifestyle just because of my luck. But no one knew that it was actually a prison.”

“The Evergreen Palace and South Imperial City are nothing but spacious prisons. I’ve always lived on eggshells. Never was I happy about my new identity as I knew that what gave me value was an event that took place years ago. Once the world forgets about it, I will lose my value and can easily vanish for any reason as long as the Imperial Family wants me gone.”

Kam Chin Kee drank a mouthful of wine before turning to Chui Yim, the gentle look he usually wore long gone. “Do you understand how I feel?”

There wasn’t any reply. Chui Yim felt his bitterness and could imagine how tough it must have been for Kam Chin Kee, but he’d never really understand him.

As the saying went,  wife of nobility is never free. Things were even worse when it came to the imperial family.

It sounded grand, but the internal fighting and scheming were endless. Chui Yim’s intelligence also meant he roughly knew what had happened to Lam Ming’s mother, Sit Ting. He now finally understood why Kam Chin Kee was so surprised that Chui Yim knew nothing about him when they met; well, it was weird not to recognise the world’s most famous orphan.

Everyone watched him enviously, but how many knew of his unspoken suffering?

After a short while, Chui Yim shook his head and downed his cup. “Life’s tough, but do you know what’s the most magical thing about this world?”

“What?” Kam Chin Kee replied subconsciously as Chui Yim giggled.

He picked up his knife, cutting a small piece of steak and stuffing it into his mouth. “The most magical thing is that humans can still lead a normal life no matter what the world becomes,” Chui Yim answered while chewing on his steak. “It’s both magical yet terrifying.”

Chui Yim nailed the knife onto the huge steak as he fell asleep after taking another sip of the glutinous rice wine. Kam Chin Kee watched him with a confused expression, but what he saw next left him shocked.

The short knife Chui Yim was using was actually a gliph weapon! It was shocking to see Chui Yim use such a tool as a knife, but the carvings on the back of the knife were what truly stunned him.

The first carving was the symbol of a flame, while the other was a messy carving that was barely legible. The messy carving was a word from another world—and the reason why Kam Chin Kee was shocked was because he understood the word!

Chui Yim woke up with a throbbing headache the following day. He let out a painful shriek, and somebody entered the room upon hearing him.

It was none other than Yeung Chun with a cup of tea. “Siu Yim, are you alright? This is some hangover tea; you’ll feel better after taking it.”

Chui Yim grabbed it immediately and took a big mouthful, easing his headache. “Hiring you is the best decision I’ve ever made. Oh yeah, where’s that kid?”

“I have no idea.” Yeung Chun shook his head. “I only saw you when I got there, so I brought you to your room.”

Chui Yim nodded. But the next second, he remembered something. “What time is it…?

“Ahhh!!! I forgot I have lessons today!”

Chui Yim randomly picked up the snow-white uniform which hung at the side as he dashed out of the residence, leaving Yeung Chun shaking his head and smiling bitterly.

Chui Yim was panting hard when he arrived at the Cloud Palace outer sect. The sprinting nearly made Chui Yim’s heart deficiency trigger. But what surprised him was that the class still hadn’t started, and his classmates were still chatting. They only glanced at the late Chui Yim; the teacher hadn’t arrived yet, so there was no reason for them to do anything.

Chui Yim returned to his seat with his seatmate missing. Thinking that just like him, Kam Chin Kee was having a hangover, he tidied up his seat too.

Two hours passed. Chui Yim was an hour late, so his classmates who were on time had waited three hours. Some students were starting to get impatient, but the thought of the special class suppressed those feelings.

Even Chui Yim’s curiosity was piqued. Today’s the first special class. Did the Cloud Palace’s disciple forget about the lesson? It will be embarrassing if that’s the case!

But no matter how angry or annoyed they were, nobody would entertain them as only the old cleaner was around. There wasn’t even anyone for them to complain to!

The next thing they knew, it was noon, which meant recess.

Just then, a fragrance swirled into the room. It was a complicated one that gave them goosebumps, not for any special reason, but because the fragrance made them crave food like how one would crave water when thirsty. The fragrance greatly stimulated them.

It wasn’t a strong aroma but had a hint of freshness.

A figure appeared together with the fragrance and a huge plate in his hands. The plate was where the fragrance was coming from. Smoke rose from the plate and swirled around the Cloud Palace outer sect!
