Chapter 513 Two Gil

Villain Ch 513. Two Gil

The sudden message from Gil in the guild chat threw the trio into a whirlwind of confusion. Elio, James, and Noah exchanged wide-eyed glances, their expressions a mixture of uncertainty and disbelief.

"He's joking, right?" Noah quipped nervously, attempting to brush off the tension with a forced smile. But his question was aimed at Elio, seeking reassurance that Gil's inquiry was merely a prank, a lighthearted jest.

Elio, however, felt an ominous weight settle in the pit of his stomach. He didn't respond to Noah's question, his mind already racing with a flurry of thoughts. Instead, he instinctively summoned the guild chat box, fingers poised to type a response. His fingers danced across the holographic keyboard, his heart raced.

Mac: What are you talking about? When did I ask you to wait at the gate?

Mac: Besides, weren't you the one who said you were going to the guild hall?

But Gil's reply confused everyone.

Gil: You are, Elio. You said the leaders speculated the villains would come disguised as slimes like the last war event so you agreed to send spies to the city gates. But I didn't find any of their guild members here. It seems like they have lied to you.

Elio's eyes widened, his heart racing as he read Gil's message, searching for a hint of clarity. "I never mentioned sending any spies or anyone to the city gates," he exclaimed, a mixture of shock and concern lacing his words. He scratched his head, processing the sudden turn of events. "This is weird," he stated, his confusion mirroring the sentiments shared by the group.

*Ba-thump*

A second later, Noah and James shot up from their seats, a mix of concern and urgency etched across their faces. The atmosphere turned tense as the trio grasped the gravity of the situation. With a determined wave of his hand, Noah conjured his chat box, his fingers poised and ready to type a response.

Lord*Hunter: Tell me you're joking, Gil.

Gil: I don't. I know when I should joke or not, you know!

Their exchange in the guild chat only amplified their growing sense of unease. Elio, Noah, and James shared a fleeting glance, their unspoken concern painting a picture of urgency as they realized the severity of the situation.

Without wasting another moment, they bolted out of the room, heading swiftly towards the guild hall where Gil was supposed to be. The atmosphere crackled with tension as they traversed the corridors, their footsteps echoing their shared concern.

However, upon reaching the hall, Gil was nowhere to be found. Their confusion deepened, mingled with a growing sense of alarm. Elio, taking charge, summoned the city map, hoping to shed light on the perplexing situation.

Elio's brows furrowed as he scanned the map, the visuals painting a picture that seemed utterly impossible. Gil's marker was indeed at the city entrance, a considerable distance from their current location. The reality hit them hard—reaching the city gates from where they were would take more than a few minutes, especially on foot. What added to the perplexity was the fact that Gil, an assassin without a mount like Elio, wouldn't have been able to cover that distance swiftly.

Noah's eyes widened in realization. "This doesn't add up. How could he be there already?" he exclaimed, a mixture of disbelief and concern coloring his tone. His mind raced, trying to piece together the incongruities of the situation.

James, equally perplexed, shook his head. "Something's not right here. It's as if time just skipped for him or something," he added, his voice tinged with worry, unable to fathom the anomaly.

Again, Gil's chat entered the guild chat.

Gil: Apart from that, you also asked me to stay here, watch and not ask anything in the chat until the event started. You said this was a secret mission. I don't understand.

Gil's message flashed across the guild chat, a shiver of realization raced down Elio, Noah, and James' spines. The pieces fell into place, connecting the perplexing dots to reveal a chilling truth: the Gil they had been communicating with before wasn't the real Gil at all. The realization that a villain had successfully infiltrated their guild headquarters sent a jolt of alarm through them.

Elio's fingers danced on his chat box, his words punctuated with urgency and caution.

Mac: Come back immediately. The villain has infiltrated our base.

The weight of the situation sunk in, the gravity of the potential threat hanging heavy in the air. With a resolute gaze, Elio swiftly composed another message, one that laid out their defensive strategy in the face of this unforeseen breach.

Mac: That applies to all guild members who want to take part in the event. Within ten minutes, the headquarters will be closed. No one coming in or out after that.

The sense of urgency spurred the trio. Their expressions were a mix of concern and determination as they braced themselves for the imminent game of hide and seek, a battle against an unknown infiltrator in their sanctuary.

His order certainly caused ripples of confusion within the guild.

ChronoDusk: That fast?

AetheriaShadow: What happened? Why has the villain suddenly managed to enter the headquarters?

ValkyrieBlade: So, we have to fight the villain in our own base?

NyxSpecter: I thought in the event we would become a detective?

Yora: Elio, what happened?

Mac: Come to headquarters immediately, I'll explain everything. Also, I will check on you and make sure you are not the intruder.

"So?" James inquired, his voice taut with tension. The thought of an intruder sneaking around in their midst had their nerves on edge, an adrenaline-fueled rush that magnified the stakes of the situation.

"I'll start by checking on Liam and Darren," Elio declared, his tone firm and resolute. "You guys stay here and ensure that everyone is our guild member," he instructed, his mind already formulating a strategy to weed out the interloper.

"How?" James questioned, a perplexed frown etching his features.

"Ask them to engage in the guild chat," Elio suggested. "The villain isn't a registered member of the guild, so it's impossible for them to chat there."

With a swift, decisive movement, Elio turned on his heel and ascended the staircase to the second floor.
