The Female Assassin Pretends to Be a Lamb in the Campus
Chapter 292: The more Qin Han touches her cheek: "Why Laugh"
Chapter 292
Qiao Ying woke up for a while, her whole person in a state of disorientation. Before long, she fell unconscious again.
In the middle of the night, she woke up once more, slightly more clear-headed.
The hotel owner was a Spaniard. Qin Hanyue spent quite a bit of money to get him to prepare a bowl of hot porridge. He then hurried to reheat the water that had already cooled down after boiling once.
He returned to the bedside, carefully supporting the back of her neck and fluffing up her pillow. Then he started to slowly feed her the porridge spoonful by spoonful.
He blew on a spoonful of porridge to cool it.
The wounds on his hands could no longer be concealed. Originally confused, when Qiao Ying saw the thick bandages wrapped around his hands, she became much more clear-headed. She stared at his hands, "Hands..."
Her hand under the quilt lifted slightly but lacked strength.
Seeing that he could not hide it from her, Qin Hanyue held out his hand in front of her.
He told her, "I ran into Dark Shadow's people the night before last. Don't worry, it's just an injury to my hand, not serious."
Qiao Ying weakly opened her eyes to look at him.
His bandaged hand gently caressed her pale face.
The process of feeding her porridge was a bit difficult. She could not eat much, after feeding her for half a day she barely ate a dozen or so spoonfuls. Qin Hanyue put down the porridge bowl, wiped her mouth, and then went to pour a cup of warm water.
He took her medicine out of his pocket.
She clearly did not have the strength to swallow the pills, so Qin Hanyue carefully crushed the pills into powder, opened the capsule, and fed it to her mixed with water.
"There's no sugar with the medicine this time," he said soothingly.
The room was too quiet. His low and gentle voice carried a hint of fatigue. It rang out in the dim, cramped room, giving both of them an inexplicable sense of reassurance.
Qin Hanyue wanted to chat with her, even if she didn't have the strength to respond. He was afraid she would lose consciousness again the next second.
Seeing her swallow the medicine, Qin Hanyue was much more at ease.
He went into the bathroom and brought a basin of warm water to the bedside. With one hand he dampened the towel, wrung it out, and wiped her cheeks and neck.
Qin Hanyue said gently, "Rest if you're tired, I'll keep watch over you." His hands kept moving.
Qiao Ying opened her mouth slightly, telling him, "...Can't go back...to the Capital City."
Going back to the Capital City was like completely exposing herself under the eyes of Dark Shadow. It would be walking into certain death.
She was all too clear on the might and assassination methods of Dark Shadow. All of them were top assassins. You could be walking in a crowd and not even know how you died.
Even if you hid underground they had ways to find you.
Going back would also implicate Qiao Yi and the others.
Qin Hanyue: "I know."
Qiao Ying: "...Little Yi."
Qin Hanyue: "Before coming to find you I already contacted Shangguan Qingmu. I believe Dark Shadow would not rashly offend the military."
She seemed to be reassured and did not speak again, just looking at him.
After some time, he heard her softly call to him, "Qin Hanyue..."
Qin Hanyue quickly asked, "Does it feel uncomfortable somewhere?"
He felt her forehead and cheeks. She still had a slight fever.
"The medicine you just took has antipyretics. Once it takes effect you won't feel so awful," he soothed like speaking to a child.
She was soaked all over with sweat countless times.
Qin Hanyue held a towel, hesitating as he asked her, "Do you want me to help wash your body? Washing up will make you more comfortable."
Qiao Ying looked at him without answering. The corners of her mouth tilted up ever so slightly in a smile she did not have the strength for. It was extremely faint.
Fortunately Qin Hanyue was close to her, otherwise he really would not have seen it.
As if able to read her eyes, he leaned in close with a smile and gently nuzzled her cheek, "What are you smiling about?"
Pressing against her face, he closed his eyes, his heart gradually gaining reassurance and satisfaction. The pent-up gloom also dissipated.
It was as if he obtained healing in an instant.
His eyes stung hotly with pain the moment he closed them after going days without proper sleep. He lifted his face to look at her, completely doting and helpless, "If you had the strength to speak, you would definitely say some daring, blunt words that would astonish me and make me not know how to respond."
Qiao Ying: "..." Would she?
Up close, the red veins covering his eyeballs could be seen clearly.
As if he could read her eyes, "You definitely would."
Qiao Ying: "..." Who said so?
Qin Hanyue: "So, allow me to wash you or not?"
Qiao Ying: "..."
The medicine contained sleep aids. Qiao Ying soon fell back into a coma, but fortunately she did not run another fever.
Qin Hanyue held her hand as he kept watch at her bedside. His brain felt increasingly muddled.
At that time it was close to four in the morning and the hotel was deathly still.
In the hallway, two people tread lightly with nimble feet, their footsteps noiseless on the floorboards. They stopped in front of the door to their room.
The door handle was gently turned.
In the next moment, the door opened.
Qin Hanyue stood inside the room, looking at the two people in the doorway.
"Sir." It was Xu Zheng who rushed over from Arkenlin.
"Sir." The other young man resembled Xu Zheng in his features and was called Xu Du, Xu Zheng's younger brother.
Xu Du happened to be out on business last time in Arkenlin so did not make an appearance.
The two men entered the room.
Xu Zheng took a look at the bed then took something out from his body, "What you wanted, sir."
Qin Hanyue accepted it. It was a set of silver needles.
Qiao Ying had lost her needles. Qin Hanyue had Xu Zheng bring over a new set for whenever she regained enough strength to administer acupuncture.
There was only one wall lamp on in the room. The lighting was extremely dim but Qin Hanyue's exhausted face could still be clearly seen.
Xu Zheng lowered his voice, "Please rest well, sir. My brother Xu Du and I will stand guard outside."
The two men promptly left the room after that.
One went downstairs to stand watch while the other remained in the hotel.
Qin Hanyue put away the needles in his coat pocket. He showered in the bathroom then returned to lay down next to Qiao Ying on the bed.
Despite his body being pushed past its limits and feeling terribly drowsy, for some reason Qin Hanyue could not fall asleep. The room was pitch black. He listened to the feeble breathing beside him as his body slowly relaxed.
Qin Hanyue slept very uneasily, waking up two or three times in the span of half an hour. He held Qiao Ying's hand before finally falling back asleep.
This was the best opportunity for Dark Shadow to eliminate the thorny opponent Qiao Ying. Dark Shadow issued a kill order.
In an instant Dark Shadow's assassins swarmed out from all over the world, hurrying toward Qiao Ying's location in South America to carry out their pursuit.
Nearly all of South America was imprinted with Dark Shadow's traces.
Qin Hanyue really wanted Qiao Ying to properly rest and recover from her injuries, but after regaining consciousness the first thing Qiao Ying did was tell him to take her somewhere else.
Qin Hanyue also did not dare keep her in one place for too long. In the last town he killed two of Dark Shadow's people. Dark Shadow's men were probably already here chasing their trail.
So as soon as night fell Qin Hanyue took her back out onto the road of escape, seizing the cover of darkness.
Having the additional help of Xu Zheng and Xu Du had its pros and cons.
The skills of these two men were second to none among Qin Hanyue's subordinates, but four people together made for too conspicuous of a target.
Moreover all four had East Asian faces. They stood out sorely in South America and could only try their best to avoid crowds, acting under the veil of night.
The party of four changed locations without incident or alarm.
All along the way Qin Hanyue carefully held her in his arms, fearful that her wounds would split back open. Fortunately her injuries did not bleed.
But being forced to flee place after place still took quite a toll.
