465 Fang's Worries (1)
Igni's Kingdom was a space of fire and rocks. Although it didn't seem like a nice place to reside, it was wider than even Ember's space, as if to compensate. At the borders, a tall flame wall reaching past the heavens covered her world's edges.
Although it's unfit for humans, it could be a great place for fire-type monsters to stay, though.
"No way..."
But after she told me what that hourglass was for, I was almost unable to believe her words.
Time control! I did see traces of Time Energy in the hourglass, but to think it actually had that function! This is way beyond simply amazing!
"Test it out! Let's see if it works as you just said!"
If she could really adjust the time flow inside this space, then the number of things we could use it for was endless.
Igni looked a mix of nervous and excited, similar to me, as she lifted the hourglass above her head. The object then released a faint yellow light as a low buzzing sound reached our ears.
"...?"
I quickly checked my hands and legs, but I couldn't detect any changes at all.
"My Lord, look!"
But other than the two of us, everything else changed. The slow, undulating flames became almost like a still image, along with the falling meteorites in the sky staying still as if someone had just hit the pause button!
"It works!"
I can't believe it! It was true! Igni's God Kingdom can manually control the passage of time!
After that, we experimented with the time control for over an hour, trying to see its limits. For the time passage, it could go from as slow as 1 millionth of normal time flow to as much as 1,000 times faster!
The only problem was that it consumed too much energy to activate at either limit for long. Before Igni stopped the time control, we stayed inside on accelerated time for over 2 hours at least, but when we got out, barely a minute had passed!
Igni was sapped, but she still had a bright smile on her sweaty face. After all, she was now a step closer to reaching God Level, just like Ember. Of course, it's not like we did "something" that would make her tired while experiencing the accelerated time.
"How is it, Leader? Is it really a God Kingdom?"
As soon as we got out, Fang approached us and asked. Her expression was indescribable, as if she was about to cry at any moment.
"Yes, Igni did succeed! We'll be revealing her kingdom to everyone at dinner later, to add a little bit of suspense."
"Y-Yes... Haaa.... Haa.... I did it..."
"..."
Fang's expression turned dark for a moment before her eyes turned sharp as a smile crossed her lips.
"Congrats, Igni! But I'll surely catch up to both you and Ember soon!"
Although she was acting cheerful, I could feel a sad, and a little anxious, air around her. Maybe I should comfort her later? Before I could call to her, however, she immediately walked away, returning to her attempt at opening the "gate" to her God Kingdom.
Igni was too tired to continue, and her target was already achieved, so she went back to the skyscraper first to rest. Just like Fang, I also returned to my earlier task of creating my own God Kingdom.
However, I failed to use any of the regressor's methods. I guess, just as they worried about before, my case was just so different from theirs. Well, their lessons did help me understand how to make a God Kingdom, though, so it wasn't completely wasted.
Just as dusk was approaching, I heard footsteps approaching me from behind. When I turned my head, I saw Fang with a pensive expression walking closer.
"... Leader."
"..."
I could tell that she had some worries, so I fixed my posture, relaxing while patting the lawn right by my side, signaling for her to sit down. As expected, she shyly moved to my side, sitting down with her legs pulled close to her chest in a fetal position.
"Leader... I..."
After a short bout of silence, she finally opened her mouth, sharing her worries. Apparently, she was feeling pressured by Igni's achievement, worrying that she would end up reaching God Level next after Ember.
"Although Ember already beat us to it, I want to keep my second spot! I don't want to get overtaken by Igni!"
That was what she was worried about. Personally, I don't care about their "ranking" within our group. They're all equally my precious tamed monsters, my lovely girls.
However, for sure, Fang wouldn't feel at ease even if I told her that. It was as if her pride was on the line, after all. Her pride in being my 2nd tamed monster.
I tried beating around the bush, letting her feel at ease with superficial words. But Fang was sharp, and she seemingly noticed what I was doing soon after. Still, she agreed to my words, and as time passed, we slowly moved to chatting idly about random things.
At that moment, as if recalling something, Fang turned to me with a curious expression.
"Right, Leader. A few days ago, I entered a pure black space with nothing but a set of tables and chairs while trying to open my God Kingdom. There, a voice told me to ask directly you about that place."
"A pure black space?"
Is she talking about my soul space, where the regressors reside? The presence of a set of tables and chairs made it seem like that was the case.
After asking her for a bit more detail, I was convinced.
"Yeah, that's my soul space. I'm not sure how you got lost in it, though."
"Really? Then the voice..."
"That? You felt the impression of a large, indestructible mountain after hearing him, right? Then it's probably Brother Mountain."
Fang nodded her head, her expression turning flat.
"I see... Hmm?"
However, she became confused shortly after.
"If that was Leader's soul space, then why is there a stranger present there?"
"... Ah."
Did I not tell them about the Regressors yet?
