“May we ask Cloud Palace… what is the aim of this?”

The clan leaders and principals stomped over to Woo Nim and Cheuk Kwun, not forgetting to bow before expressing their unhappiness. “Please explain the purpose of this stage and give our disqualified disciples justice!”

Cheuk Kwun took a glance at them and proceeded to wear his answer on his face; he couldn’t care less!

On the other hand, Woo Nim stepped forward to address their complaints politely and seriously. “Since when does Cloud Palace explain any of our actions?”

“What…?” The crowd went into a commotion immediately, but the next second, they felt a powerful aura from Cloud Palace!

This was Cloud Palace, staying lowkey but suffocating you if you found trouble with them.

“Good, good! Indeed Cloud Palace!” The clan leaders and principals left unhappily with their disciples. There was nothing else they could do since none of the disciples from the Big Three, Eight Institutions, or Lam Zaa had been disqualified.

The best disciples of their generation who had the strongest support behind them among everyone were still qualified, including the Northern cultivators. Since Imperial Sunset Palace and Four Seasons Heaven did not send any representatives over, Yim Ying Yuet along with Tok Muk Fung and the rest represented Blazing Skies Mountain and the other huge tribes and currently played the role of the important figures from the North. For the South, Sze Fung, Grandma Chin Shu, Old Star Reacher, Lui Pak Lok, Fa Siu Siu, and others were composed since their disciples were still qualified, and they were feeling confident.

Thus, what could the small clans bring to the table if the top-notch institutions had no complaints? And even if they did complain, Cloud Palace would still give them the same answer, shrugging it off politely and not even bothering to pretend that they cared.

It was infuriating, but terrifying at the same time.

“I have a question for Third Teacher.” A teenager stepped forward. He was just like an iceberg, not just in appearance but in energliph too.

“Isn’t this stage kind of unfair towards the gliphists?”

Hui Sai Cheong looked at him, stunned. This was true for the other participants as well, who rapidly caught his intention.

Gliphers focused more on their physical body. They cultivated to make use of heaven and earth energliph for oneself, and their aim was to become one with heaven and earth to become immortal. Thus, a glipher’s physical body was much stronger than a gliphist’s. Therefore, gliphers could better withstand elixir poison. This meant that, if a gliphist were to have taken the same amount of same-grade pills as a glipher, they might be disqualified while the glipher would withstand it successfully.

Even though most that were disqualified in this stage were Southerners due to the popularity of alchemy, and there weren’t many elixirs or pills for Northerners to begin with because their culture believed in cultivating without boosters, one of Suet Sing Fuk’s close friends, a Northern gliphist, was disqualified because of this issue.

Suet Sing Fuk felt indignant to watch his close friend be disqualified. Besides, he was speaking the truth; out of ten that were disqualified, nine were gliphists.

Hui Sai Cheong was at a loss. This situation was out of his expectations, and he couldn’t figure out where to start explaining. As Suet Sing Fuk stared at him coldly, the cat got Hui Sai Cheong’s tongue.

He did have a reason for this trial mission, but as an innocent and cheerful man, he ended up being extremely anxious facing this situation and could only shake his head while waving his chubby hands.

“What’s kind of unfair?”

Just then, a voice saved Hui Sai Cheong from the situation. Hui Sai Cheong immediately sighed in relief and turned to see a woman standing outside of the “two” straw hut with doors currently wide open.

“Second Senior Sister!” Hui Sai Cheong ran over to his lifesaver instantly. It was kind of hilarious to watch a big man hiding behind a petite woman who was the size of a teenager like Mung Si or Kong Yau. But despite her size, she had a terrifying aura.

If Wat Suen could be described as enigmatic and Wong Kei as confusing, then this girl would be a powerful boulder on the peak of a mountain: a weird-looking one that stood out yet grabbed the attention of all.

“All of you, come in.”

With that, the woman turned around and left with great steps.

Kam Chin Kee and Man Yee Ho’s eyes shrunk, but they remained silent. Scooting to Chui Yim’s side, Kam Chin Kee whispered, “This woman is scary… beware…”

The woman strode back to her straw hut. The straw hut was just like the one Wat Suen sat in, filled with sunlight, but it was empty without cushions.

“This stage is very simple.” The woman stood in the middle, scanning the teens with her phoenix-like eyes. “If you manage to withstand six steps of mine, you’ll pass!”

With that, she turned to Suet Sing Fuk. “Boy, step forward!”

She stepped out aggressively like an elder sister who was ready to find justice for Hui Sai Cheong. At the same time, Suet Sing Fuk stepped out bravely. He was an outstanding cultivator and did not believe that anything bad could happen in the Cloud Palace enrollment.

“Please guide me!”

However, the woman ignored him. “You want fairness, right? I’ll give it to you; show your gliph now because you might not have the chance to do so later.”

Suet Sing Fuk was displeased but dared not let his guard down and did as told.

Frankly, the disciples with the least sense of presence in Cloud Palace were the first and second disciples. It was decades ago when the first teacher appeared. He was well respected, but the world didn’t know much about him even now, only that he created the well-loved Hidden Cloud gliph he created a few decades ago.

Compared to the first teacher, this second teacher was even more unknown. She almost never showed herself in front of the world, and amongst the Cloud Palace disciples, she was the only one that returned to Cloud Palace without any major events when she went globetrotting.

The only thing the world knew about her was her name.

Yim Mo Chiu.
