Elixirs were the product of alchemy and it comes in various types. One example would be miraculous elixirs that could save lives or replenish a glipher’s energliph.

Commoners yearned to own such treasure as they felt like alchemy was a key to the mysterious life of gliphism, and many especially went to watch the alchemy process with the hopes to have their innate chambers activated by inhaling the scent of elixirs.

For this segment, Chui Yim would be a spectator sitting with other Cloud Palace Outer Sect students. He was also filled with excitement for the upcoming competition today. Chui Yim wasn’t the best at alchemy, but he was still fairly skilled. The Southern Ping’s Ping Clan was known as the holy land of alchemy, and Ping Chi was an elite greatly skilled in this field. When he taught Chui Yim, due to the similarities between alchemy and medicine, Chui Yim gained decent knowledge in this field.

Sadly, what restrained Chui Yim back was his lacking experience in alchemy, but he had already grasped the most difficult parts of alchemy; the controlling of fire and the usage of plants as ingredients.

Spectating the contest might enlighten him and further his alchemical skill.

Woo Hung would be representing the Cloud Palace Outer Sect. Putting aside his childish behaviour, he was a skilled alchemist and glipheon. Being the imperial physician Kuen Hip’s direct disciple, he was talented in both medicine and alchemy, just a step away from the great master state. Even his master had personally said that Woo Hung had a bright future.

Because of his talent, Woo Hung grew arrogant, hating Chui Yim, who became a great master before him. He was confident in winning unless a disciple from Southern Ping appeared. One by one, several disciples stepped forward. There were more participants for this segment than forging, as rather than forging gliph weapons, most cultivators would rather become life-saving alchemists.

A teenage girl in colourful robes made her way onto the stage. The colourful robes showed that she was from the School of Blossoms and was no stranger to anyone who knew about her institution. She was their founder, Fa Siu Siu’s direct disciple, Yip Luk Ching. She was a girl with great aptitude, and even the Stars Unite Education Center headhunted her! But Fa Siu Siu did everything she could to take Yip Luk Ching as her disciple. Thankfully, she didn’t disappoint, becoming a single-gliphic gliphist at seventeen. It was said that Yip Luk Ching would be capable of becoming a ten-gliphic gliphist by twenty, and she was considered an outstanding gliphist.

This was also why the crowd was shocked to see her step forward in the alchemy segment instead of the gliphism segment.

Besides Yip Luk Ching, another teen that caught the crowd’s eyes was So Ming Sai, a famous young alchemist and the best disciple of the Imperial Physician Medical School.

The representative from Great Book Academy was also seemingly young, and the scent of elixirs from his sleeves proved his experience. In contrast, the Stars Unite Education Center representative was a handsome teenager as pretentious as Yau Suet Chong. He similarly held onto a fan infused with the scent of elixirs.

All the participants proved themselves to be unique, and the only obvious similarity between them was that they were all of a young age.

The most valuable part of these teenagers was their potential and future.

Sze Fung stood up and started speaking solemnly, but his eyes were shining brightly. “It’s a pity that the Imperial Physician of the Evergreen Palace isn’t able to join us today as an examiner due to his busy schedule. However, we are pleased to inform you that another famous glipheon has accepted our invitation to oversee this competition! We thank our friend for travelling all the way from Southern Ping to adjudicate this competition for us!

“This friend is a well-known alchemist with an excellent reputation. As a glipheon, he has written countless medical that benefitted the world; he’s a role model of our generation!”

Chui Yim’s face fell as soon as he heard this. He had a bad feeling of impending doom.

On the other hand, Sze Fung was in a great mood. He raised his voice as he continued introducing the mysterious guest. “Every glipheon address him as great master respectfully should they meet him; he is none other than Doctor Odd, Great Master Ping Chi of Southern Ping!”

Sze Fung carefully grew the atmosphere, as to commoners, Ping Chi was incredibly well known. But even with his ability and status, he remained humble and saw commoners as his equals. His medicinal books had inspired countless glipheons, and his books on alchemy were many alchemist’s first textbooks.

His name brought loud cheers from the crowd, indicating their respect for him!

An elderly figure dressed in a green robe appeared out of nowhere, looking like an immortal descending from the heavens as more cheers were heard.

He waved his hands casually. “An old friend of mine invited me to be today’s examiner, and seeing these energetic youths, even this old man feels full of vitality.” The way Ping Chi looked at the crowd gently made the commoners cry with joy.

“I’m very honoured to accept this role.” He looked up, eyes clear and bright, unbefitting of his age. He turned to where the outer sect disciples were, which made alarms ring in Chui Yim’s mind. The next minute, Ping Chi’s voice boomed across the arena.

“Stupid kid, what are you staring at when you should hurry here and massage my shoulders?”

Chui Yim glared at Ping Chi angrily while Kam Chin Kee tried to restrain his laughter. His classmates were also either trying to control their laughter or staring at him with envy, as not many would get the chance to approach that grandstand; you would be standing next to the elites of this world!

“Don’t try to take advantage of me, you old fox!” Chui Yim gritted his teeth, knowing that the hundred-gliphic monster could hear him. In return, he received a secret voice message from Ping Chi.

“Take advantage of you? Do you think I work for free? Sending someone to me for treatment? You owe me a favour! Get your ass up here before I decide that someone’s hand can rot away! He can give up on ever reaching the five-chambered state too!”

Ping Chi’s medicinal skills were out of this world; if not for his cultivation, he would have already reached the divine state. Chui Yim could tell that after Kan Hang fully recovered, he could successfully step into the five-chambered state.

Chui Yim glared at Ping Chi hatefully, but the thought of Kan Hang’s injury made him walk towards the grandstand like a well-behaved disciple.

“Great master Ping, isn’t this against the rules?” The person who spoke up was the Old Star Reacher, who liked to cause trouble, especially for young and talented teens like Chui Yim.

“What rules!” Ping Chi glared at him unhappily. “I didn’t know that it’s against the rules for an old man who is about to enter his coffin to wish for his disciple to massage him!” His words were depressing, but his loud and energetic voice that was able to spread throughout the arena without any energliph proved that he was nowhere near the grave…
