Lam Chun stood straight as he glared at Lam Mei Mei with an ice-cold expression. “Lam Mei Mei, I remember you were grounded yesterday. Why did you leave the palace? It seems my instructions are a joke to you.”

“Father…” Lam Mei Mei stepped forward and spoke sweetly, trying to act coquettishly.

“Hah!” But all she got was a sneer from Lam Chun as he cut her off, his blue hair swaying in the wind. “You need not attend the Cloud Palace outer sect anymore, and you are forbidden from leaving the palace for three months, starting now!

“Kei Mo!”

As soon as he shouted, someone appeared out of thin air with a respectful bow. “Kei Mo is present.”

“You will personally guard the Southern Beauty Hall and prevent Princess Mei Mei from leaving the hall. Send a message to the Cloud Palace outer sect informing them that Mei Mei will not be attending school henceforth, but we will still pay the tuition fees.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Father…” Lam Mei Mei sobbed pitifully.

“You brought this on yourself. Even I, your father, have to treat that powerful master in the capacity of a disciple! The jade was meant to protect your life. Even the Emperor’s Successor only has one, and you’ve wasted it because of your jealousy!” Lam Chun scolded. The helplessness in his voice was evident. “Return to your hall immediately! You’re grounded from today onwards!”

Lam Chun returned to the Hall of Affairs, not sparing Lam Mei Mei even a glance.

Chui Yi sighed. “Your Highness, that life-saving jade should not be wasted like that. Your Highness has offended someone that even His Majesty cannot afford to offend.”

With that, the doors of the hall shut tightly, leaving Lam Mei Mei to cry alone, Suen Ling at a loss behind her, and the eye-catching Phoenix Cry Carriage outside the hall.

In a cave in the Northern Snowdrift Mountain Range, Man Yee Ho opened his eyes slowly. He felt a stinging sensation the moment he tried to get up. Frowning, he looked at his left shoulder to realise that his wound had already been patched up.

“You’re quite the pain bearer, aren’t ya? Such a deep cut, yet you slept through it.”

A voice rang out, and only then did Man Yee Ho notice a fire pit next to him. Yeung Tin Hun stood right there staring at him.

Despite receiving backlash due to the yokai snow leopard breaking his gliphility, the Four Season Robe had saved his life. The glipher might’ve been weak, but his attack was full of energliph. It shredded his muscles and created a severe wound. If not for Yeung Tin Hun waking up in time, he would’ve died of blood loss.

Man Yee Ho had a blank expression as he stared into the blazing flames. “Sorry, I didn’t know he was such a person,” he spoke after a long time, his voice hoarse due to the long period of silence.

Yeung Tin Hun was surprised, but he waved his hands. “Next time, don’t try to play the hero out of the blue. Their group tried to kill me, and both of them were the ones who escaped.” With that, he turned to Man Yee Ho. “Kid, where are you from? You’ve got some skills.”

Man Yee Ho felt weird when Yeung Tin Hun called him a kid. As someone who was a powerful general in his past life, he wasn’t used to it. However, recalling that Man Chin Hung called him Siu Ho for fun back at the Imperial Sunset Palace, he returned to his senses. “I’m from the Imperial Sunset Palace, disciple of the Imperial Empress, Man Chin Hung.”

Yeung Tin Hun raised an eyebrow. He might not care about worldly affairs, but he definitely had heard of the world leaders. “So you’re the thousand-gliphic gliphist’s disciple? No wonder you’re able to draw gliphs with all ten fingers. If you break through your innate chamber, you might even reach the ten-gliphic state immediately.”

“Impossible.” Man Yee Ho corrected him. “Both energliph and mental state is what limits a gliphist’s rank. Even after I break through, I’ll still have to cultivate slowly. This is the path I must take.” He reached out his right hand, all five fingertips shining. “But it’s still easier like this.”

Yeung Tin Hun nodded his head in agreement. “After you break through, only your energliph state will improve while you won’t get much stronger, right? At least with the speed you draw your gliphs.”

“Enough to beat you.” Man Yee Ho nodded seriously.

“Hah!” Yeung Tin Hun laughed. “Arrogant kid.”

“I’m not a kid,” Man Yee Ho corrected. “And I’m not arrogant; I’m just stating the facts.”

“I should have let you bleed to death!” Yeung Tin Hun gritted his teeth.

However, Man Yee Ho frowned. He was being genuinely sincere. “Thank you for saving my life, but it’s a fact that I’d be able to beat you once I break through my innate chamber. I’m not being arrogant.”

This angered Yeung Tin Hun even more as he picked up his spear. “Come prove it then!”

“Do you think I can fight you in this state?” Man Yee Ho looked at him like he was an idiot.

Yeung Tin Ho was so furious that he panted. He only placed the spear down with a huff after some time. “Count yourself lucky.”

Silence fell over the cave once again.

After some time, Yeung Tin Hun spoke up. “Where are you going after you recover?”

“The South.” Man Yee Ho spoke slowly. “South Imperial City, for the Cloud Palace’s enrollment.”

Yeung Tin Hun was left surprised as memories flashed through his mind.

“The Imperial Sunset Palace announced that Man Chin Hung’s direct disciple has already left for the South. Adapting the Cloud Palace’s style, he will walk to South Imperial City alone. It’s dangerous, but also a great experience. The route down South is dangerous, and his journey was announced, which might result in many assassins looking for him. But due to Man Chin Hung’s disciple’s background and Imperial Sunset Palace’s standing, those that try to attack him shouldn’t be that powerful.

“As for you, get ready to leave for the South too.”

“By foot?” Yeung Tin Hun cried. “How long will that take?”

“Half a year if everything goes well? Just get there before the Cloud Palace’s enrollment.”

“So you’re that direct disciple from the Imperial Sunset Palace!?” Yeung Tin Hun screeched.

“Yeah, didn’t I say that?” Man Yee Ho stared at him like he was an idiot.

“So it’s you!” Yeung Tin Hun jumped up like a cat. “It’s your fault I’m in this shitty cave! Stand up and fight me!”

Day after day passed, and a month of lessons flew by.

Kam Chin Kee moved into Chui Yim’s residence without gathering much attention; he was just someone here to learn, and nobody believed that a child born from a farmer’s household would have any talents. On the other hand, Chui Yim was slowly being accepted among the Cloud Palace’s outer sect cohort.

Why? Because of his forging abilities.

Many clans envied his capability to customise a gliph weapon for gliphers at thirteen. Furthermore, his special quota and everything that happened made them look at Chui Yim differently.

More importantly, Chau Chung was the one who made him famous.
