Kam Chin Kee was similarly sprawled across the table in deep slumber, with drool flowing down the corner of his mouth.

Chui Yim gave himself a pat on the face but it did not make him feel any better and he was still suffering from a hangover. There’s no point in me attending class in such a state. I might as well be absent for the day. Thus he stumbled over to his bed for a good sleep.

When he woke up, the skies were graced with onyx paint, and his living room was all tidied up.

“The wine last night was quite a strong drink!” Yeung Chun smiled seeing Chui Yim.

“Indeed.” Chui Yim returned a smile while looking around. “Where’s Kam boy?”

“Still asleep.” Yeung Chun pointed to the bedroom.

Chui Yim nodded in response and looked up at the skies. “I’m going to get some food, does uncle Yeung want some?”

“Nah.” Yeung Chun shook his head. “Yesterday was too much for me and rest is what I need now. You guys go ahead.”

With that, Chui Yim headed out of the residence for the market. However, it didn’t take long before he was stopped in his tracks.

Blazing flames in brilliant gold colour came towards him with burning heat, causing his face to tingle in pain. A shining golden bird pulling a carriage that was similarly shiny stopped in front of him.

“How dare you block my way? Somebody come and arrest that bastard,” said a sweet yet childish voice.

“Yes, Your Highness.”

A ray of colourful light responded to her. Chui Yim was alerted the moment he saw the light and slapped his waist subconsciously to pull out an odd-looking cylinder!

The news of Kam Chin Kee being forbidden to return to the palace put Lam Mei Mei, who had a crush on handsome Kam Chin Kee from a young age, in an extremely foul mood. She immediately scouted out information of his whereabouts and found that he came to the residence near Wandering Son’s Lake right after he left the palace.

This knowledge left Lam Mei Mei cranky. Ever since Kam Chin Kee joined the outer sect, he and Chui Yim were always seen together. Despite them both being boys, Chui Yim was still the culprit who snatched Kam Chin Kee away in Lam Mei Mei’s eyes.

The spoilt and overbearing Lam Mei Mei naturally viewed Chui Yin as her arch-enemy. The sight of Chui Yim’s shiny bald head irked her even more.

With Suen Ling, Lam Mei Mei was sure that she could take down Chui Yim easily. Suen Ling was a member of the Shadowforge Hall and had the powerful Divine Walk tattooed on her, how would Chui Yim be her opponent?

But that was not what Suen Ling, who currently had goosebumps, felt. The moment Chui Yim pulled out the cylinder, she felt a spine-chilling aura from the cylinder.

Oh my, what is this?  Trying to make her sound more girlish

Suen Ling believed in her intuition, thus she changed her move immediately and pulled a rainbow light behind her which turned into a rainbow windbreaker to protect her.

A weird buzz rang across the air. Numerous tiny needles flew out of the cylinder and landed on Suen Ling’s windbreaker, then bounced off in all directions. Her face turned pale as she shouted, “Your Highness, watch out!”

The Thousand Mechanism Arrow was a mechanism Kam Chin Kee had learnt in his first life. In this world that was not proficient in mechanisms, it was about ten states more advanced than anything in this world. Despite not being able to deal serious damage to gliphers or gliphists, it was enough to kill a weak girl like Lam Mei Mei.

A much louder buzz rang out this time. It was as if something on the golden carriage was being activated. A wave of energliph flowed along the carriage’s circuits.

Clang clang clang clang…

The featherlight pearl curtains of the carriage became as tough as steel once the energliph wave passed through them, and the needles failed to put even a scratch on the carriage.

Suen Ling heaved a sigh of relief seeing so. Being too nervous, she forgot that the Phoenix Cry Carriage had gliphs carved onto it by hundred-gliphic gliphists, which gave it the ability to defend itself from any attack below the three-chambered state.

Even so, Lam Mei Mei was terror-struck when she saw the needles coming for her. “How dare you assassinate me!” she screamed in her ear piercing voice. “Take him down and kill him!”

“Yes, Your Highness!” Suen Ling trembled. There was the Phoenix Cry Carriage to protect the princess, but even so… She, as Lam Mei Mei’s shadow, would not be able to forgive herself if anything bad happened to Lam Mei Mei. She couldn’t lie that she had looked down on Chui Yim from the start as she deemed him to be a lucky clown born with the talent to forge.

But the attack just now… Suen Ling put on a killer glare, and the energliph on her surged. Before she could strike, a grey shadow jumped out.

“Stop!” Wearing his grey robe, anger was swimming in the black-haired teen’s eyes. He blocked in front of Suen Ling, but instead of looking at her, his sights were set on the golden carriage instead. “Mei Mei, stop this.”

The curtains pulled open, revealing a familiar face that Chui Yim recognised; it was his classmate who always fell asleep during lessons in the Cloud Palace outer sect!

I never knew that she had something to do with Kam Boy!

“Brother Kam, will you return to the palace with Mei Mei?” She looked at Kam Chin Kee and asked gently.

“The palace is a complicated place. I’ll not return once I’ve made the decision to leave.” Kam Chin Kee shook his head.

“Kam Chin Kee. I, the princess, will give you one last chance,” Lam Mei Mei declared fiercely. “Head back with me.”

Kam Chin Kee glared at her with a similar cold expression too. “Lam Mei Mei, I’ve always treated you like my own younger sister. But since you’re speaking to me in the manner of a princess, I’ll treat you like Your Highness now.” With that, he bowed at her. “Thank you for Your Highness’s adoration, but Kam Chin Kee who seeks freedom has gotten His Majesty’s permission to leave the palace with much gratitude. Your Highness can bring this matter up to His Majesty if it upsets Your Highness.”

“Very well!” This angered Lam Mei Mei even more as she stared daggers at Chui Yim. She believed that it was Chui Yim who brainwashed Kam Chin Kee to behave in this manner, thus she directed all her anger onto Chui Yim. “This bastard sneaked into South Imperial City with the intention to assassinate me! Take him down and put him in prison forever!”

“Your Highness…” Suen Ling whispered in hesitation, but she was cut of by Lam Mei Mei’s scream.

“Are you deaf? Take him down!”

“Yes, Your Highness.” Suen Ling gritted her teeth. Instead of attacking, she took a jade out of her pocket and crushed it.
