My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You
Chapter 249 - They Are Still Suspecting MeBai Jiya nodded repeatedly. "Thank you, Secretary Si! I will do my best to finish it as soon as possible!"
Si Zhening hummed and returned his gaze to the computer. Various sounds of busy typing, rapid footsteps and phone ringing filled the office once again. Si Zhening replied to a few urgent emails and forwarded them to CEO Jiang. He lifted his head and saw that thirteen minutes and forty four seconds had passed.
He tidied his desk and stood up. His movement instantly attracted everyone's attention.
They saw Secretary Si walk toward Bai Jiya's desk and couldn't help but pray that the data had already been compiled to the man's satisfaction.
Si Zhening knocked on the desk, announcing his presence to the deeply concentrated woman. "Miss Bai, how is it?" He pointed at the clock. "It's almost fifteen minutes."
"Ah?" Bai Jiya lifted her head blankly and when she saw Si Zhening's perfectly sculpted face so close to her, she couldn't help but blush. "P—Please wait for a moment."
Under his silent gaze, the more she tried to finish it sooner, the more mistakes she created.
Si Zhening counted the seconds and when it was exactly fifteen minutes from the promised time, he stretched out his hand. "Give me your intern evaluation form."
Bai Jiya had no idea what he intended to do, but anything was better than staring at her silently as she worked. It gave her immense pressure, no matter how handsome he was.
"Here it is, Secretary Si." She handed the form to him and while he was busy filling something, Bai Jiya finally finished compiling the file and offered him the flashdisk with both hands. "Secretary Si, here is the file you asked for!" She glanced toward the clock and sighed in relief when she hadn't made him wait for long.
Si Zhening accepted the flashdisk with an expression that was neither servile nor overbearing. "Good work."
Bai Jiya's eyes brightened up. "Thank you, Secretary Si! I will continue to do my best!" Who wouldn't strive to do their best when they could see an eye candy everytime they lifted their heads?!
Coincidentally, Si Zhening's phone rang so he walked away, leaving her with a short nod.
Bai Jiya sat down with a relieved sigh, but when she looked around, it seemed like she could see some…sympathetic glances? She frowned, confused. The paper on top of her desk caught her attention and she remembered the form Si Zhening asked for.
Bai Jiya felt giddy. He praised her for her good work, surely…he would give her a nice score, right? Of course, she had taken the initiative to do a senior's job, and she was confident that she could do it perfectly. Even Secretary Si himself went to her desk to get the data.
Oh dear, he…he couldn't have got a crush on her right?
Bai Jiya suppressed her excitement and took the paper in front of her.
In the next moment, her expression crumbled when she saw a glaring F in the evaluation rating. The comment was written in a very neat and beautiful handwriting, almost like a printed font yet the content was simply heartless and cruel. [Inattentive at work, lack of focus, slow witted, easily distracted, inability to fulfill a simple task by the given timeframe. Unsuitable to be a permanent employee.]
Bai Jiya slumped on her desk, soulless. W—What? Did she read it wrong?
She asked the senior beside her. "Why…? He praised me but in the end, I only got an F?" If she got such a bad score from the Head Secretary, would the HR Department consider her again?
The senior sighed in pity. "Sorry, I forgot to tell you. In front of Secretary Si, you must not give excuses and promise him to finish something within a few minutes and not be done with it."
"I counted it." Another secretary whispered after seeing Si Zhening walking out of the office. "You did it in fifteen minutes and twenty three seconds. You have exceeded the time. It's a big no no!"
"What?!" Bai Jiya shrieked in shock. "I am only twenty three seconds late! What kind of perfectionist person is he? Does he have OCD or something?!"
The secretaries shook their heads. "That's just how Secretary Si is. You have to endure it. Or else, how do you think he is able to become the head secretary and CEO Jiang's right hand man when he's just a little over twenty four?
Bai Jiya was going crazy soon. "What should I do then?!"
If she couldn't get this job, how could she lift her head in front of her boasting vixen and green tea bitch of a good friend, Wei Xiameng?
Si Zhening walked to the balcony and closed the door behind him, shutting the faint whispers and discussion inside. Only after confirming that no one was around did he put the phone to his ear. "What's wrong?"
"Mr. Si, the boss asked you to come. It seems like the police have been investigating the company for a while."
Si Zhening's eyes were cold as he replied. "Wasn't it Shin Dong's fault? Who told him to be such a blabbermouth?"
"Mr. Si…" The other side of the phone was helpless and anxious. "Don't worry, Shin Dong has already been obliterated. The police will not be able to find him anymore, all they can track of him is his itinerary and plane ticket to his hometown in Korea."
Si Zhening snorted. "Tell the boss not to be anxious. We have already done the business for so long, how can a mere police wipe us out?" He fell silent for a moment. "Don't call me with this number anymore. Tell Boss that I can't go there for the time being. The police…they are still suspecting me."
Without waiting for the other party's response, he hung up the phone.
What reflected on the screen that had gone dark was an impeccably sculpted face paired with gold rimmed glasses. It should be a peerless feature, however the eyes which stared back at him were penetratingly frosty and devoid of any emotion, like the surface of a thousand years unthawed ice, it was borderly inhuman.
