Viola is very focused, she has already set up a Rain Dance so that her Surskit can have an advantage over Julian's pokemon.
Julian could have stopped it by attacking before she had a chance to set it up but he didn't, he wanted to see Viola give her best against him
With Rain Dance in action, it increased Surskit speed, Viola didn't waste any time and went for the attack this time.
Viola "Use Bubble Beam"
Viola commanded. Surskit shot a lot of energy bubbles at Flabébé who seems to be actually enjoying the rain.
Julian "Flabébé, use Fairy Wind"
Flabébé had leveled up and learned Fairy Wind on her own which delighted Julian, Flabébé used Fairy Wind and blocked the bubbles.
The wind hit the bubbles and stopped them in their tracks, some popped on contact while others were sent back in Surskit's direction, seeing its attack being sent back towards it, Surskit used its superior speed and dodged those bubbles.
Julian "Use Fairy Wing again"
Flabébé blasted a power shining wind at Surskit. Since the attack was quite wide, Surskit had to use all its speed and dodge the wind, the win hit the ground and blew away the water that is being collected on the ground.
Viola "Use Ice Beam"
Surskit while still on the move blasted an Ice Beam at Flabébé, seeing the incoming attack Julian soon came up with a counter.
Julian "Use Fairy Wind"
Julian counted again with another Fairy Wind, for now, his Flabébé doesn't have any defense moves right now so Julian can only rely on counterattacks.
Since Flabébé has a stronger special attack, the Fairy Wind from her clashed with the Ice Beam and caused it to split, ice shards flew everywhere but none of them hit Flabébé.
Viola didn't expect this, she realized she needs to get closer, long-distance attacks like these won't do much, both pokemons will just be wasting their energy.
Julian also knew this and decided to get closer.
Julian "Move forward"
Flabébé floated towards Surskit to reduce the distance between them, if Viola decides to back off she will be wasting both her pokemon's time and energy.
Viola knew that this could be dangerous but decided to take Flabébé head on but she decided to attack.
Viola "Use Bug Bite"
As Flabébé made her way towards Surskit, it used its speed and charged straight at Flabébé but it didn't attack her head-on, it got right behind her and jumped at her while using Bug Bite.
Julian "Now, Energy Ball"
While Flabébé cannot move around fast, she can turn fast, she faced Surskit and charged up an Energy Ball and placed it right in front of her, Surskit was taken by surprise and crashed straight into the Energy Ball.
The Energy Ball exploded and sent Surskit flying through the air, it then crashed on the ground and got knocked out, the Energy Ball was not able to finish it off but the fall did.
Flabébé was also sent flying backward but due to her high special defense she was able to withstand the blast and came out with some damage.
The referee looked at Surskit and declared the results.
Referee "Surskit is unable to battle, Flabébé wins"
The referee called.
Viola was surprised by the outcome, she didn't expect Julian would counter like this, why would anyone take such a risky decision, people would either block or dodge as the other pokemon is already very close to them.
If a pokemon is a special attacker they would never use a special attack when their opponent is so close up their face, it is a suicidal move.
Julian only took this risk because he knew Flabébé will be able to take the blast while Surskit won't.
Ash and his friends also watched this with interest, Ash expected Julian to win and he was not surprised by Julian's method but it did help him understand how Viola battles a little.
Julian looked at his Flabébé and smiled, he then sent her back to her Pokeball to rest for the day.
Viola sent her Surskit back to its Pokeball and sent out her next pokemon, her ace, Vivillon.
Her Vivillon came out of its Pokeball and spread its wings scattering the dust that is on its wings which sparkled under the light, the Rain Dance has already ended and the light coming through the roof is being reflected from the water on the ground.
Julian didn't wait and sent out his next pokemon as well, Porygon.
His Porygon entered the battlefield and already started to analyze it, it analyzed the air, the ground, even the little stones and pebbles that were around the battlefield.
Soon it had a complete understanding of the battlefield, it even knew when it stopped raining by analyzing the water on the ground.
It then looked at the Vivillon and started to analyze it as well, it estimated its height, weight, wingspan, it looked through its data and figured out what typing it is and what possible moves it can use.
Just within a few seconds Porygon is able to figure out its opponent, because of its ability Analytic, now Porygon will be able to deal more damage to its opponent.
