163 Astonishment

In the blank space filled with a bright silvery glow Layton floated leisurely as his gaze rested on the humanoid form in front of him, it exuded erratic lightning from his body as its flesh was slowly decomposing and reforming at a constant speed, the flesh he had implanted into the body was basically almost gone as its imprint which had been deeply inlaid into the core of the humanoid form was slowly digested and dissolved, the facial features of the body had already deeply resembled that of Layton’s with only a few minute and distinctive differences. Layton removed his gaze from the changing humanoid and turned his gaze slightly to the left where Lilith appeared. He wasn’t surprised by her presence after all they were currently in a weird composite domain, Lilith had broken through on the spot once she digested the information, dissolving her body and letting it reside inside the space fragment that was to form her domain, her black mud quickly reformed creating a sort of mini-ecosystem with countless weird plants, animals and even some humans roaming about. Of course, their actions were merely instinctive ones as they possessed no souls and were merely acting on instinct as Lilith hoped to wipe out any residual semblance of foreign will that resided in her body, Layton decided to help with her endeavour as he wrapped us his domain and merged it into hers forming a weird silver sun that hung leisurely inside of her domain.

“Any progress?” Layton inquired leisurely as his gaze rested on her fair face.

“None, although your light of will helps but it’s not enough, no one has been able to adapt to it yet,” Lilith replied shaking her head but no disappointment could be seen on her face or in her tone as she spoke apparently not optimistic about her success in the first place.

She was trying to reduce the erosive effects of her black mud, basically anyone or anything contaminated with it was doomed from the beginning, their soul thinking and emotions eroded and destroyed by the substance, their instinctual actions merely by-products of the residual chaotic soul and genetic information that had yet to be thoroughly eroded by the viscous liquid.

The reason she was so excited when she saw the information Layton provided was that she had a plan about her cultivation path, although she had the rudimentary priesthood of redemption and by virtue of her peculiar birth and physique she simultaneously possessed the priesthood of damnation, Redemption was innately at a high level but the priesthood of damnation seemed to grow stronger with every passing movement as a result of the use of black mud in various planes, the growth was at such a speed that it had started to hinder her which why she did not possess or could actively wield any of the priesthood she had.

She sought to comprehend the laws relating to life and death hoping to use them as a source to link the two priesthoods she possessed making them two sides of the same coin in other to resolve their conflicts and solve her dilemma and to do that she devised a plan, the plane had an instinctive mechanism which created secret realms with the domains of deceased practitioners, using this coupled with the slight authority granted by the plane to world masters she sought to transform herself into a life planet and using the planar authority granted she hoped to speed up her time and ensure the planet she transformed to would undergo a natural evolution to become a planet filled with life, the resulting birth and death of native species that would hopeful appear on the planet would possibly be enough to ensure her perception of the two laws of life and death would be unhinged during the process.

Layton and Zero were aware of Lilith’s plans and offered to help, Zero who was in no hurry to imprint her domain as she had plans of her own instead she was travelling around the surrounding area using her spatial laws to travel freely as she abducted some animals, humans and plants from different various planets and brought them to Lilith’s domain, an act done in hopes of increase the genetic information that would be recorded in the black mud when the creatures were eroded by the substance, this was merely a way of increasing the chances of life appearing on the planet that Lilith would soon be transformed into. Layton was also helping out as he was using the influence of his will to try and keep those creature’s soul and genetic information somewhat intact while they were eroded, in the same bid to increase Lilith’s chances. Of course, while they did this they weren’t ahead with plans of their own, Layton chose a suitable humanoid from the multiple races zero had captured and was trying to transform him into a suitable clone to practice some of the ideas he had generated when he got the path of practice the plane had provided when he imprinted his domain, Lilith felt his actions were interesting and maybe she could gain something from it which was why she was here to watch its completion.

“It’s starting,” Lilith whispered softly,

Layton heard her voice but didn’t respond his gaze had already been trained on the humanoid before even Lilith noticed the change, the last piece of flesh Layton had cut out from himself and implanted into the creature’s heart had finally completely dissipated, a strong feeling of solidity, eternity and completeness radiated from its body as the lightning that was previously radiating from its body converged, running through the body of the creature bound by a solid and internal magnetic field, with the convergence of the lightning a magnificent but invisible silver light of will bloomed as the creatures previously shut eyes opened.

.....

Lilith who was watching from the side was surprised, it was just for a short moment but in the few seconds it took for the lightning the body exuded to converge she undoubtedly felt the aura of law from the body, and if she wasn’t mistaken it was the law of lightning a law she was sure Layton had never comprehended or tried to comprehend because she was aware and present most of the time during the creation and completion of the clone she knew no outside resources of any kind had been used and the creature chosen wasn’t in any way special its cultivation only in apprentice stage, only a piece of Layton’s flesh and a sufficient energy environment was used in its creation and all these only took about 10 natural days which made it weird for a newborn creation that had just gained sentience such as this to possess the law as soon as it was born, especially it being a law its creator never possessed before.
