143 Gladius

Sandro was not surprised by the scene in front of him and he spared no second glance at the female that was disguised as Gladius instead he focused his gaze on the intact skin full of runes on the floor, he scanned through the numerous and intricate runes and couldn’t help but marvel at it, although he couldn’t unravel the full mysteries of the skin as the runes printed on it played a role in encrypting and masking making it almost impossible for an individual to master a similar technique just by staring at the runes alone but from the few parts he could glimpse the technique was a very mature product with almost no flaws and the only reason he could find a flaw was because of the inadequacy of the user, techniques like these were found easily even in the school city, its appearance only meant the female in front of him had a larger background than he had previously guessed. It only took a moment for all these complicated thoughts to flash through Sandro’s mind but he had no change in expression he simply lifted his gaze from the skin and stared at the figure in front of him.

“No use hiding it, where is the key?” Sandro inquired with a smile on his face, her possibly huge background did not scare the necromancer, the only reason he noted it was that it meant she could possibly hide other trump cards which could cause some unforeseen variables to his plans.

Zero wasn’t someone who liked talking and so when she heard Sandro’s inquiry she just kept quiet and took the daggers which were strapped on her waist to her palms and started twirling them playfully, she could see that the necromancer really didn’t expect her to answer his question, he just inquired out of habit and had already probably determined what he was looking for was nearby, zero wasn’t going to give him the privilege of scanning around finding it so easily, and so she took a step forward, her movement generated countless afterimages as she rushed to the man in front, she didn’t try to call in the guards at the door of the temple or other individuals around as they wouldn’t be of much help and if by chance they easily died they would do nothing but provide easy resources for the necromancer.

Zero’s movements were very swift and in just a second her two blades were already swiping at the target one was heading straight for the heart and the other aimed at decapitating the target, but the next moment zero stopped in her tracks and quickly dived to the left dodging the scorching beam of light that hit her previous position, the precious marbles that made up the temple floor were now scorched and broken and the necromancer who zero had her focus on had simply vanished. Instead behind her was gladius at least a part of him anyway, the skin she had discarded had somehow come to life, black billows of smoke like energy covered the body dyeing the golden runes and disturbing their effectiveness.

The art which enabled zero to achieve a near flawless disguise was far from simple the numerous runes printed on the skin serves numerous purposes one was detaining the soul of the original owner of the skin and the other was keeping it in a peculiar state which would allow for the use and control of some of the authority of the original owner’s domain and this was effective regardless of whether the skin was presently being used as a disguise or not.

The necromancer had somehow found a way to invoke the remnant soul of the deity and infuse it with a channel to obtain immense resentment allowing it to come back in a half dead posture and take most of the control of the domain that made up the temple and the city outside, allowing Sandro the opportunity to slip away and head towards the hidden location. The present city was not only created by gladius zero had also made use of special arrays and the peculiarity of her domain and spatial knowledge to create a hidden spatial maze that was parallel to the city, its existence took a huge toll on her and for various reasons, she couldn’t leave the temple before her objective was completed or the maze would collapse, this also meant she was about to fight with her hands tied as she couldn’t release her own personal domain to fight with the increasingly hostile environment of the temple.

Zero naturally felt the increasingly dangerous atmosphere and so tilted the dagger on her right hand slightly, the reflective surface showing her eyes as she inspired her mystery, the exotic energy granted by her rune and spiritual power bestowing on herself the identity of the lord of brightness, a lot of believers outside the temple still acquiesced to her identity since they never realized she was fake she was able to use her mystery to twist her own aura to gain access to that identity and make use of the abundant power of faith and energy abundant in the domain or at least allow her to limit and interfere with her opponent’s use of the massive energy abundant in the temple.

The temple shook dramatically as the two urged the immense power of faith and energy flowing into the building, countless spears of blinding luminous rays shot towards zero while she using the domain around flashed around at the speed of light her daggers following a rhythmic trajectory blending with the surrounding light and slashing at gladius, although gladius was just a remnant soul his combat sense was still very high and a bright spear was formed in his palm which he stabbed forward and used to slightly shift zero’s attack trajectory, they both made movements and reactions at immense speeds thanks to the light attribute domain that was around and loud sounds of weapons clashing coupled with explosions of energy resounded in the empty temple.
