"Yes, there is a possibility, but we also can't be careless. There must still be strong enough evidence to prove all that." Adley replied.
"Soon you find out about her. I don't care in any way, if you need to approach the woman and become the next prey!" Lucas said, he didn't care anymore.
"Are you sure?" asked Adley with a reassuring look.
Yes, how not? The wild cat looks like it will certainly be happy if it is served fresh meat which it eats.
"Yeah, you should have done that from the start!" Lucas answered emphatically.
"Weren't you the one who asked me not to do anything to her?" Adley looked at Lucas questioningly.
"Yeah, and I'm sorry I didn't ask you to do that. I should have just let that woman be your prey. I don't care about her anymore. I'd go crazy if Michelle was being chased every day!" Lucas explained that he always felt uncomfortable with Michelle's presence in his life.
"Unfortunately, that woman is very difficult for me to conquer and she is the only woman who dares to refuse my invitation. It's really annoying, but of course I'm curious about her," complained Adley, who had repeatedly received rejection from Michelle, even if only for trivial matters.
"I don't want to know. Either way you have to do it. If necessary, make my mother hate her!" Lucas insisted.
"Honestly, this is the toughest task you've given me, but I'll give it another try." Adley said, grinning happily.
"Instead of you sullying a nice woman like Livia, you better make Michelle your next prey. I'd agree more with that." Lucas replied as he lifted the corner of his lips into a cynical grin.
Adley was silent for a moment. What Lucas said was true, but it seemed like it would be very difficult to subdue that woman. Even though they live close together, Michelle has never once entered her apartment, and vice versa.
Even though he repeatedly visited the woman's apartment, he was still not given access to enter. Is he being too disgusting or is Michelle really hiding something in her apartment?
Adley seemed to be scratching his temples that didn't itch, as a sign that he was confused about Lucas' assignment this time. Feeling unsure that he could also do that easily, especially now that Michelle is increasingly taking advantage of the situation to approach her best friend. Of course the woman will be very careful and try not to be swayed by temptations from other men, including temptations from him.
"Why? You're going to surrender before the war?"
Adley gasped. Instantly his daydream was interrupted by a question from Lucas.
"Oh shit! You underestimated me?" Adley annoyed as he stared at Lucas's face.
"Prove that you can." Lucas challenged Adley.
"You'll see what I do to her."Adley retorted, grinning happily, as if he had found a way to approach Michelle.
"I really can't stand Michelle who always bothers me every day." Lucas suddenly complained. It seemed like he couldn't hold it in anymore. "Not to mention Mommy who always defends him. I can get even more crazy facing them both." He added later.
"Oh yeah, I have something important to tell you too. It's about Mrs. Veronica." Adley whispered as he leaned forward.
Lucas reflexively rounded as he lifted his back from the back of the sofa.
"What about Mommy? Is there anything suspicious about her too?" Lucas asked excitedly.
"Yes." Adley replied curtly.
"Tell me what did he do?" Lucas asked again, very curious about what Adley would say.
"Is Mrs Vero not here?" Adley asked, purposely checking first.
"No. Haven't stayed for a few days. Only occasionally see me," Lucas replied deliberately giving his best friend a safe code. It seemed he was well aware of Adley's current concern.
"Good! I'm afraid someone else is listening," Adley replied.
"Okay, I see. So, what suspicious thing has he been doing behind my back?" Lucas responded with a conscious expression.
"It turns out that during your coma, Mrs. Vero saw Selena twice," Adley answered very carefully in speaking.
"What? For what? How do you know all that?" attacked Lucas with questions. Of course he didn't believe what Adley had just said.
"I learned all of this from Adam, your mother's private driver," said Adley, which suddenly made Lucas even more complete. If Adley got the information directly from Adam, that would mean 95% of the information was accurate.
Adley is indeed his best friend who is most gifted when it comes to investigating people. It was not wrong for Lucas to assign Adley to keep an eye on the people he suspected. At least Adley was of much use to him. Yes, of course. No matter how bad Adley was, he was still the best friend who understood him, under any circumstances.
"Do you also know why my mother met Selena?" Lucas asked again, just to make sure.
"Not yet. I don't know what Mrs. Vero's purpose is for seeing Selena, but at least we know who the people we need to investigate are. Honestly, I'm getting more and more dizzy after knowing all this," Adley explained, starting to complain about his feelings.
Yes, how not? Both Lucas and Adley, they had thought that Ellena's departure from the house had something to do with the accident that nearly took Lucas' life.
Of the three people they suspect, who has the most potential to destroy Lucas' life? If he suspects Veronica and Selena are the culprits for Ellena's disappearance, then who planned the accident? Could it be the same person or someone else with a different motive?
Lucas' mind started to wonder about it, and so did Adley who seemed to be thinking the same thing. Not to mention the suspicion of Michelle..
It's possible that Michelle had a hand in the accident, but after thinking about it, could Michelle have the heart to harm the person she loves so much? Who knows. Lucas and Adley managed to get frustrated at the thought.
"Do you think their meeting had something to do with Ellena's departure from this house?" Lucas lowered one leg which was crossed, then piled his arms over his thighs, intertwining his fingers.
"I can't be sure yet, but... what can Selena do to get Ellena out of this house? Does she know anything about Ellena?" Adley replied, squinting one eye, peering at Lucas.
"I don't know, but I think so and she's trying to get Mommy to hate Ellena," Lucas answered, still guessing.
"Master, excuse me."
Someone's voice immediately made them gasp and reflexively stopped the conversation. They turned their heads, I don't know how long Joana had been standing behind Adley.
"Why, Jo?" Lucas asked as he raised his gaze to Joana who was still standing in the same place.
"S-Sir, sorry to interrupt your time," replied Joana with slightly quivering lips.
"Go ahead, Jo. What's wrong?" Lucas asked looking friendly to his housekeeper.
"Sir, actually I have something to tell you," said Joana, looking nervous.
Seeing Joana's attitude, which seemed to be trying to suppress the tremors, made Lucas and Adley stare even more in surprise. Why does Joana look like she's scared?
"What do you want to say?" Lucas asked quite enthusiastically, as if he had realized that what Joana wanted to say was very important.
Yes, how not? So far, Joana only talks to him for important matters.
"Actually ... Miss Ellena—"
"What's wrong with Ellena?" Lucas concluded immediately enthusiastically as soon as his wife's name was mentioned by Joana.
"Do you know anything about Ellena?" Lucas asked again, hoping he was right.
"Yes, Sir."Joana answered quietly, nodding her head.
"What do you know about Ellena?" Lucas and Adley seemed to be compact in throwing Joana's question.
Joana was silent for a moment, then looked at Lucas and Adley in turn. It seemed like now was the best time to tell Lucas the secret he knew about Ellena.
Yes, he was secretly listening to Lucas and Adley's conversation behind the partition wall. Hearing all that, he couldn't bear to keep this secret forever.
Her fate in the house is at stake, but she wants to see Ellena live happily with her master. Remembering Ellena who had always been kind and never looked down on her, even though she was only a servant in the house.
She had been trying to muster up the courage to talk to Lucas, until finally God gave her the courage and she decided to go to Lucas and Adley, while Veronica wasn't in the house. She couldn't waste this opportunity.
"Can you promise me in advance not to tell all this to Mrs Veronica?" Joana asked for sure, before deciding to tell Lucas and Adley.
"Why should I promise? Did Mrs. Veronica threaten you?" Lucas asked even more suspiciously.
Joanna took a deep breath. "Maybe Mrs. Veronica did all this because she wanted to see you live happily, Sir, but whether what she did was right or wrong, I'm not even sure why Mrs. Veronica did this to you." She explained at length.
"Tell me what she's done to my wife. I promise I won't tell all this to the madam." Lucas replied trying to calm Joana.
"Okay, I'll tell you what I know about Miss Ellena." Joana replied, forcing a smile.
The woman then told Lucas about the letter Ellena had left with her. She really felt pressured because she had to keep it all a secret from her employer. Not to mention Veronica's threats that always ring in the ears. Thinking about it, it actually made her even more frustrated.
Dilemma. On the one hand she had promised to help Ellena deliver the letter to Lucas. However, on the other hand she was also forced to promise Veronica not to tell Lucas about it.
This time she was mature enough to be able to determine what she should do. Of course justice must be served. Even though Ellena is poor, she is a good person who deserves that justice and it seems like Joana needs to help her.
That's why Joana prefers to break her promise to the old lady.. Even though she had little information, it would at least help Lucas and Adley in the process of finding Ellena.
