The sun was starting to dim, indicating that it was getting late. A commotion began to decorate one of the rooms in a travel company that is currently on the rise.
How come? Several employees seemed busy packing and tidying their desks, before deciding to go home. Some of them even have gone home, because they have finished their work early.
"Miss Patricia, you haven't come home yet?" said a male employee of the finance staff, who accidentally passed Ellena as she was about to leave the room.
Ellen paused for a moment, intending to respond to the man's question. Standing stunned while holding a white cup. Yes, she had just come from the pantry, making a cup of coffee after deciding to increase her work time by about an hour. Given that there is still some work that she has not finished. It's a responsibility if left alone, until he chooses to work overtime.
"It seems that today I will be working overtime for a while, I have work that I haven't finished yet." Ellena replied with a wide smile.
"Very well, Miss. Then I will go home first, excuse me." The tall man seemed to be smiling kindly while bowing slightly, showing respect to Ellena.
"Oh yes, please," replied Ellena doing the same, smiling widely and kindly.
She then went into her room, placed the cup filled with the thick liquid on the desk, before finally landing herself on the swivel chair.
Today's work was indeed quite tiring for her, but she didn't want to disappoint a boss who had been kind enough to give her a job, just by casually unclear. Meanwhile, she can use the time at home to rest fully, without having to think about work.
"Ah, my body feels sore all over." Ellena hissed as she stretched the muscles in her hands.
Remembering the bed at home that was waiting for her, she immediately started recapitulating financial reports. Who would have thought, that one hour of time could be put to good use, until finally she was able to complete her work according to the target.
Ellena rushed out, when the time was already 17.30 WIB. However, just as she passed the main door of the office building, suddenly a black car stopped in front of her.
Ellena reflexively stopped her steps right beside the car. Slightly stunned staring at the front window of the car, which looked dark and only showed the silhouette of a driver inside.
"Come up!"
Ellena blinked as the car window swung wide open to reveal Richard's figure sitting in the driver's seat.
The man smiled broadly as he waited for Ellena to fulfill him request this time. Hopefully she won't refuse his invitation again.
"You?" Ellena rounded, then looked left and right, just to make sure no one else was looking at her.
She just realized that the office was already deserted. Only security is seen still standing guard at the post which is a few meters from where she currently stands. She then bowed slightly.
"You're not home yet?" asked Ellena after refocusing her gaze on Richard.
"As you can see." Richard replied, shrugging his shoulders lightly.
"Why? Weren't you supposed to be home an hour ago? Did you work late today?" asked Elena curiously.
"No! I was waiting for you on purpose. I know you're working late today," said Richard frankly.
Somehow Richard knew how if Ellena took overtime for today, even though two hours ago she went out for a meeting with a client.
"How did you know I was working overtime?" Ellena squinted, staring curiously. She felt that someone was spying on her activities all day, so she could not escape the supervision of her superiors.
"Oh, come on, Patricia ... we work in the same office. I don't think it's strange, if I know what you've been up to all day." Richard replied casually.
"Yeah, I know that, but I also know that you're busy. I don't think you have time to constantly monitor my activities while at the office. Besides, didn't you go out for an outing two hours ago? taking overtime today? Are you spying on me?" accused Ellena with a squinted look, as if suspecting her superior.
"Don't suspect me like that. I'm not as bad as you think, Patricia!" Richard said as if he didn't accept Ellena's attitude, which was clearly suspicious of him.
"So?" asked Ellena still not satisfied with Richard's answer.
"Go up first, I'll explain after you get on," said Richard.
"But-"
"Come on, Patricia. Don't keep refusing me. I just wanted to take you home. Is that wrong? Think of it as an order from me!" concluded Richard while protesting the woman who was still not ready to get into her car.
'Oh, how's this? I tried hard to resist it, but it didn't seem to have the slightest deterrent effect. So, what should I do now?' Ellena thought, starting to wonder.
Instead of answering Ellena was dumbfounded, showing a confused expression.
"How long are you going to stand there? I'm not leaving here until you come home with me!" Richard threatened to have no other choice, in order to want to go home with the woman who had stolen her attention from the start.
Ellena sighed. There is no other choice. Looks like she really has to fulfill the boss's request this time.
"You love to push me," said Ellena, forced to open the door and climb into the car. Now she was sitting in the front seat next to Richard.
A happy grin now appeared on Richrad's face. He then drove his car across the highway, after Ellena finished fastening her seatbelt.
The first five minutes, still not one of them spoke up to start a conversation. Either because they are lazy or they are both waiting for the one to start talking first.
"So?"
Ellena, who had been waiting for Richard to speak, in fact couldn't wait any longer. She seemed to turn to the man who was focused on driving in front of her.
Richard turned his head for a moment with a smile, then focused back ahead, staring at the road which was quite busy with passing vehicles.
"What you said is true. Two hours ago I went out to meet my new client, but since we only met briefly, so I decided to go back to the office an hour ago." Richard explained trying to quell Ellena's curiosity.
Ellena still stared at Richard from the side, without saying anything, as if deliberately waiting for another explanation from the man.
"I was going to your room earlier, but I didn't," said Richard again, which suddenly raised questions in Ellena's mind.
"Why?" asked Elena curiously.
"I overheard your conversation with Rendy. That's how I knew that you were working late today," Richard replied with a smile and turned to look at Ellena for a moment.
"And you were waiting for me on purpose?" Ellena stared questioningly, just to confirm her guess. This immediately got Richard's head nod in response.
"What for? There was no point in waiting for me at all. You should have gone home a long time ago!" Ellena protested feeling uncomfortable with Richard's attitude which was quite excessive according to her.
"How could I let a woman as beautiful as you be alone in the office, after the other employees are actually vying to go home first to their homes." said Richard, grinning.
Instead of smiling broadly, Ellena just rolled her eyes. embarrassed. She then turned her head slowly in any direction. Can't understand Richard's answer as if she seems to be trying to tease her.
"Work according to the rules, don't be too pushy to waste your time and energy. I do like hardworking people, but—"
"It's my duty. Didn't you ask me to finish the report today as well?" concluded Ellena did not accept Richard's words as if she was blaming her for taking overtime.
"I'm just asking you to finish the report as soon as possible, not that it has to be today–Ah, well, let's not talk about it anymore. Basically I'm worried about you, Patricia. I don't want you to get sick from being too late at work. Do you understand?" Richard replied trying to change the subject.
"But-"
"Next time I won't let you work any harder." Richard concluded again, not giving Ellena a chance to speak.
"You ...." Ellena trailed off, as doubts invaded again. free. Richard would not be defeated. She just took a deep breath and decided to shut up.
"As you wish, Master superior!" annoyed as she pursed her lips. Don't care about Richard's current status.
Hearing that statement, Richard actually chuckled. I don't know what he thought was funny, what was clear was that his attitude was enough to make Ellena even more furious. Until she glared at him angrily.
"You are so annoying! I think, I chose the wrong company. I shouldn't have helped you at that time. Just let the pickpocket take your wallet!" Ellena chirps which managed to make Richard perfectly round towards her.
"Are you sorry you helped me?" Richard asked for sure. Ah, he was really disappointed with the statement that just came out of Ellena's mouth.
"No! I'm more sorry for knowing you. Turns out I was stupid, asking for help from people who love to force their will. Yes, you are very pushy, just like him." Ellena replied not too seriously, until she slipped at the end of her sentence. Ah, why did she suddenly remember Lucas?
Richard's attitude this time, really reminded her of the figure of a husband far away. She seemed to be clenching her lips with one hand, as she realized what she had just said.
"He?" Richard looked at Ellena probingly, not understanding who the woman was referring to. "Who do you mean?"
"Hm ... he ... he is my ex-boyfriend." Ellena whispered nervously, as a sign that she was lying.
"Don't compare me to your ex-boyfriend. I'm sure your ex isn't much better than me!" Richard firmly did not accept.
"But you guys are the same. I thought they were different, but there's no difference at all!" Ellena replied not caring even if Richard was angry.. Who told her to keep trying to approach her, even though she was repeatedly rejected.
