Ji Yao pressed his lips into a thin line with an absent expression. As though he had made a decision he reached into his lapel and took out a handkerchief embroidered with the Ji pirate symbol just like the one on his hand.
Rui Fei's gaze fell on the handkerchief with a blank expression. "I owe you a favour," said Ji Yao urging him to take it. One might not understand why Ji Yao was making a big deal out of this.
Worst case scenario, he could have eaten that cake Xiaoyu was trying to feed him, right? But one wouldn't be able to fully comprehend how Ji Yao felt at that moment unless they walked a mile in his shoes.
This meant he was extremely grateful to Rui Fei but he made a fatal error by mentioning it to him as shown later. As expected Rui Fei grinned happily as he took that handkerchief.
He was reluctant too use it at first at it was neatly folded with Ji Yao's scent on it. He would rather put it away and wash his face in the stream nearby but Ji Yao was watching him.
Ji Yao seemed to have misunderstood his delay in using the handkerchief so he explained, "It's clean and I haven't used it." He empathized with Rui Fei as he wouldn't casually accept things from others either.
Rui Fei had been greatly misunderstood but didn't make an effort to clarify. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and said, "Thank you," but in his mind, he was already thinking of ways to cash in his favour.
He thought of waiting till the right moment but unfortunately, he couldn't wait that long. It's like when one tells themselves to save up an expensive bottle of wine only to open it while drunk and regret it when they sober up. The only difference was that Rui Fei had zero and I repeat zero regrets.
So how did he cash in on this favour? Well, let's see. For the rest of the day, Rui Fei was uncomfortable as expected. Though the cramps were bearable he purposefully exaggerated the level of pain he was feeling to gain Ji Yao's sympathy and it worked like a charm.
No matter how ridiculous Rui Fei's request was Ji Yao would fulfil it like a genie in a lamp. If Rui Fei wanted warm water, Ji Yao would personally get it. If Rui Fei wanted a bowl of soup, Ji Yao would make it happen. Everything he wanted he got all but one thing.
When he asked Ji Yao for a belly rub he didn't get that no matter how much blackmailing he did. Ji Yao wasn't stupid either, he had already seen through Rui Fei but because he felt guilty he ran around at his beck and call.
He did everything else because they weren't excessive requests but he still had boundaries like the tummy rub thing. There was no way in hell he was doing that so he ignored him.
Just before bed, Ji Yao came back from having a bath and as soon as he entered that riveting heaven-defying fragrance pervaded every corner of the room grasping Rui Fei's attention.
He had been lying down with half his leg dangling off the bed. His eyes were closed as he listened to the one pain he could never easily get rid of. His fingers were casually lying over his eyes like he was passed out but as soon as that scent reached his nose he jolted up like he had been injected with chicken blood.
His move was so abrupt that it startled Ji Yao who was passing by. Ji Yao stared at him with a puzzled expression before walking away while shaking his head.
Rui Fei wanted to ask him what sort of things did Ji Yao toss into his bath that made him smell so fragrant but he found he couldn't speak when his gaze landed on Ji Yao. He froze all wide-eyed as he watched Ji Yao's departing back.
The man's smooth as jade skin was tinted with a slight pink making him look like a blushing bride. His slightly reddened lips from the bath seemed softer like water would come out of them with a little squeeze. It's safe to say Rui Fei had the urge to do it but he knew that if he tried it then he wouldn't live to see the next day.
Rui Fei traced Ji Yao's slightly damp hair with his peering gaze to its ends brushing against Ji Yao's white robe. It was then he noticed that this robe was partially see-through and he could somewhat see the skin underneath that thick sheer fabric.
How could Rui Fei recall what he wanted to say after that image? It's even a miracle that his brain was still functioning at this point. Ji Yao was an entirely different species on his own. That face was absolutely dangerous and shouldn't be casually shown to the world.
He gulped as he stood up following that enthralling scent. It seemed his discomfort was settled just by taking a whiff. The only problem was that his throat was getting drier the closer he got to Ji Yao.
He got on his knees and placed his elbows on the table while leaning in closer to Ji Yao who was on the opposite side and said, "Yao-ge, what did you add to your bath? How about you share your secrets with this little brother."
Ji Yao raised his striking eyes glaringly before looking down at his drawings. He honestly didn't know how to answer that question. He had been told he smells nice a couple of times but Rui Fei seemed to be the only one who exaggeratedly inquired about it.
Ji Yao almost wanted to sniff himself and figure out what this kid was talking about but if he does that now it would only fuel Rui Fei's inquest. He ignored Ji Yao's question and carried on with what he was doing but Rui Fei didn't take offence.
In fact, he was calculating the probability of getting away with pinching Ji Yao's cheek. Thinking it was a terrible idea he got rid of that thought but he suddenly asked, "Yao-ge, can I sleep with you tonight?" before his brain could process the information and let him know how terrible that idea was.
Ji Yao, "...."
Well, it was nice knowing you, Rui Fei.. We will burn paper money at your night vigil.
