In the middle of the night, the palace servants brought hot water and poured it into a large wooden barrel for Lin Feilu to bathe in.
The girl herself was embarrassed even to get up.
To hell with ancient times. How could they just barge in as they like after we did that? Only the heavens knew how much she missed the showers of the modern world.
Hearing the sound of the palace servants coming in and out, pouring steaming water upon every entry, she buried her face on the bed and laid still, pretending to be dead. When everyone retreated, Song Jinglan, who was wearing a black one-piece inner wear, opened the curtains. He leaned over and carried her towards the large barrel for her to take a bath.
The bed was full of traces of their love, so she buried herself in his arms, crying out as she tried to maintain the last speck of her crumbling dignity, “Don’t call them in, I’ll change the sheets! Let me do it!”
With a laughter sounding above her head, Song Jinglan placed her into the water. Seeing the water cover her entire body, he lowered his head and kissed her forehead, “You wash up first, I will change it.”
Lin Feilu finally let out a sigh of relief.
The wooden barrel was actually bigger than the bathtub she had used before, and there were still rose petals floating around in the water. The sandalwood shelf next to it had all kinds of toiletries. Besides the fact that it required manual labour to change the water, everything else was actually quite convenient to her.
She shifted around briefly before settling on a comfortable position in the water. Half-lying down against the edge of the barrel, she listened to the rustling sound of the sheets being changed and played with the flower petals on the water surface with her fingers.
After a while, Song Jinglan finished his task and came over.
He walked around the divider, the black clothes on his body loosely framing his body. His jet black hair hung down behind him like a goblin that haunted the night, looking especially like the creature that lured others with their ephemeral beauty.
Lin Feilu rubbed her face with the petals, “Are you going to wash up? Or do you want the water changed first?”
Song Jinglan smiled and stepped in directly. He didn’t take off his clothes, resulting in the wide black hem to float on the water. The bright red petals drifted around the dark fabric and entangled with his black hair, forming a thrilling form of beauty to his already superior looks.
Lin Feilu was startled, “Your clothes are wet…”
Before she even finished speaking, he pulled her to him.
The petals floated on the surface of the water, covering everything that was happening underneath.
Her waist almost seemed to be broken as her body sloshed up and down in the water. Being clambered on top of him, she aggrievedly bit his shoulder, “Why do we have to do this here—”
He leaned his head down towards her neck tenderly. With a low and hoarse laugh, he answered, “There is no need to change the sheets here.”
Sure, the sheets didn’t need to be changed.
But some servants came in periodically to change the water.
Just like that, Lin Feilu ‘passed away’ peacefully.
After taking her second bath, she didn’t give him another chance. Lin Feilu crawled out of the water and quickly wrapped herself in a towel, “I can’t do it anymore! I really can’t!”
Song Jinglan smiled lightly.
