"You will do a urine test, have your weight and blood pressure checked on each visit." The doctor notified.
"Ok." Chen Lihua and Liu Longwei replied in unison.
They were both paying rapt attention to what the doctor was saying.
"CVS and another ultrasound will be done at your eleven (11) weeks. For now, let's start with what we have." The doctor said.
Chen Lihua proceeded to have a blood test and a urine test done, and the results came out okay at the end of the day.
Her weight and blood pressure were checked, and everything seemed normal.
"Does any of you have any hereditary conditions that run in your families, that you think might pass onto the fetus? Any medical history?." The doctor asked in concern.
"No."
"None from my side."
Chen Lihua and Liu Longwei replied in unison.
"That's good. This means there would be no need to do further screening or diagnostic tests."
"Doctor, I have eye issues, do you think it would be passed unto my child?." Chen Lihua asked in concern.
"What kind of eye problem do you have, and when did it start?." The doctor asked as she paid full attention to her.
Since Chen Lihua didn't have any medicated glasses over her eyes, it was hard for anyone to tell she had eye issues.
"My eyes are sensitive to light, and this problem started in my teenage years." Chen Lihua revealed.
"Does anyone from your family have this problem or any eye defects?." The doctor inquired.
"I am the only one in my family with this particular problem. As for other eye defects, it's hard to tell because I haven't seen anyone in my family use glasses apart from my grandparents."
"In the case of your grandparents, they may be using glasses due to age." The doctor said.
At this point, Liu Longwei revealed to the doctor that his grandmother and father made use of reading glasses.
"What about you, do you have any eye defects or any signs of it?." The doctor asked Liu Longwei.
"No doctor." He replied.
"Most eye defects are difficult to detect from this stage. It's almost impossible, unless we are sure it runs in the family, then we can say the fetus might develop the issue. Bad eye sights can be detected early or later in life, but that's not a problem." The doctor assured them.
"Just eat food rich in Vitamine A like carrots, they are good for good eye development. Alright, it's time to see your baby and hear its heartbeats." The doctor announced with a smile as she stood up from her chair to guide Chen Lihua.
The doctor called for a nurse that would help her out during the time she would carry out this diagnosis.
Chen Lihua laid on a bed facing a monitor, while Liu Longwei stood at her side.
Chen Lihua was thankful that she wasn't wearing a gown, otherwise, she would have had to pull the whole thing, upwards.
And that would be embarrassing to her.
Chen Lihua and Liu Longwei were so when they heard their baby's heartbeat, and saw it.
"Here's your baby." The doctor said with a smile as she pointed at one little thing that could be called a big dot, on the screen of the monitor.
Chen Lihua became more emotional when she saw her baby.
She couldn't believe that she was housing her little one, that another life was living inside of her, and was depending on her to survive.
Tears of joy rolled out of her eyes as she used her hand to cover her mouth, in other to control her sobs, while she still had her eyes glued on the monitor.
"Sweetheart, why are you crying?." Liu Longwei asked in an alarmed tone.
His wife was fine a few minutes ago, they were even smiling together when they saw their little one and heard its heartbeat.
Now, what would make her cry?
"Those are the tears of joy of a mother to be." The doctor replied Liu Longwei with a bright smile on her face, before turning to Chen Lihua to say.
"Mrs. Liu, no matter how you are, you have to stop crying, because the fetus can hear you. You don't want to make your baby sad, do you?."
Chen Lihua shook her head in a negative affirmation as she calmed down slowly.
She was now an expectant mother, and that maternity love she had, will never allow her to put her baby in discomfort, so she stopped crying immediately.
Liu Longwei used what he saw after she took her hand away from her mouth, to dry her tears with a handkerchief.
"Sweetheart don't cry so that our baby will not be sad okay?." Liu Longwei said as he dried her tears.
Chen Lihua gradually stopped sniffing.
"I must say, your baby is very obedient." The doctor commented with her sight still on the monitor.
"Thank you." Chen Lihua replied with a smile.
"Doctor since I'm over seven weeks pregnant, how come I didn't know about it, and I didn't put weight?." Chen Lihua asked.
The doctor wiped the gel off her stomach, and Liu Longwei helped her off the bed.
The doctor led them, and they returned to their seats as she replied to that question.
"As every woman's body is different from others, so as each pregnancy differs. You have not been pregnant before, so you might have ignored the little signs which showed that you were pregnant. From a missed period to the others. I know that at a point, you might have felt different, am I right?." The doctor questioned with a smile on her face.
"Yes. I used to have missed periods whenever I'm stressed, or mentally unstable. So during that period, I wasn't okay, so I thought that was the cause for the missed period. These days, I feel dizzy when I partake in jogging or standing up from the bed. I thought I was low on glucose, so I made some adjustments to my diet, and that helped me." Chen Lihua revealed.
"These little signs you ignored, was your body's way of signifying you, that you are pregnant." The doctor said.
"Apart from that, I noticed she put on some weight on her chest area. I didn't know she was pregnant, so I only teased her with it." Liu Longwei revealed to the doctor.
Chen Lihua felt like hiding under the table when he mentioned the size of her burst to an outsider.
