"Analysis complete, the weapon is draining one percent of its current mana from the environment per minute," Virgilius said. "However…"
"Yeah, I can tell…" Jake said while looking at the weapon making the air around slowly vibrate and making his skin crawl. "I am trying to control the energy, but it is quite stubborn, like it has a will on its own. I guess my ability to control mana makes it sound that way..."
"If you decrease the output, that won't be a problem, and you just have to spend the energy," Virgilius said. "However, it will also decrease the ability to block and drain magic attacks."
Jake could see small particles of mana moving toward the weapon… he finally realized how he learned that skill… it was basically the same power as his envy. However, instead of taking it, it was attracting things to him…
"I can accept that," Jake thought.
Jake began to dash ahead using the path created by the previous attacks, and they weren't stopped since the monsters around still were trying to recover. Still, when they were about to reach the third layer of the enemy formation, where they could see white and hairy bipedal monsters, the electric giant bats. Approached and began to attack the group with thunder arrows.
Jake moved his sword in a wide circle to block as many of them as possible… he felt the mana getting harder to control since it was successfully absorbing the attacks. However, not completely. He was also getting shocked from time to time… but he was able to resist it.
"With the mana overflowing on the weapon now, try to use the dark flames," Virgilius said.
Somehow, Jake had a bad feeling about that… but he decided to pull that off anyway when he reached the hairy white monsters. In the end, Jake got lucky that others didn't manage to catch up to him… the moment he tried to combine the dark flames and the extra mana in that situation, the extra mana in the sword caused an explosion that dispersed that energy and the dark flames to the sides…
The dark flames didn't wound Jake, but the explosion sent him flying backward, and then he slipped on the wet ground with his back. Meanwhile, dozens of monsters were burned to a crisp instantly.
"What moron did this time?" Lana asked while she was running toward Jake and healing him at the same time.
Jake instantly got better, even though his eyes were spinning for a while, and then he got up and checked his body. The explosion of burned his arms in some spots, but nothing serious…
"Analysis complete," Virgilius said. "The amount of mana was too high, and the lack of balance between the sources of energy caused the dispersion of energy in the format of an explosion."
"No shit, Sherlock," Jake said. "Anyway, I have to put that aside for now. Step aside, Lana. Those things are approaching."
"They are called yetis. They have massive physical and magical resistance," Lana said
Jake had heard such a name before, but it wasn't time to worry about that. Those things approached like massive trucks ready to smash Everything on their way.
"Jake, conserve your mental strength," Louise declared. "We will need that combination many more times to reach that mountain."
"I would rather not use the same trick several times, but I guess we don't have much of a choice here," Jake said and then dashed toward the enemies.
The yetis assumed that they were physically stronger than Jake, so they tried to punch him with all their might in order to crush him in a single instant. However, blocked one of the attacks with the tip of his blade and made it priced the fist of the enemy.
"Gyyyyyyaaaahgggh!"
Other two monsters approached from the sides and attempted to punch him, but Jake used Mana Blade while he jumped to dodge the attack and the impact not only propelled him further upward as well as exploded the enemy's hand. While the target was grunting in agony, Jake targeted his face and made his sword pierce deeply.
Your strength increased by five points.
You recovered fifty points of health, mana, and stamina.
"I guess Lana was mistaken about them…" Jake said.
"That isn't the case, the yeti are creatures that have quite a lot of mana, but they use it to enhance their bodies. The mana in the sword negates that," Virgilius explained.
"I guess the sword absorbed that mana, but it used the same amount to be able to do so," Jake said.
Before Jake could deal with the other enemies around, some earth spikes emerged from the ground and impaled them. Jake assumed that Frederick was being useful for a change, and then he continued on his charge forward. The yetis were too big and strong, so he couldn't waste his time…
When the second wave of Thunder Arrows fell, they barely hit anyone since Louise absorbed the power of those projectiles, and it seemed that she was ready to attack again, even though barely five minutes had passed since the previous attack. Jake jumped backward and confirmed that her condition was fine and she wasn't forcing herself…
The yetis realized that Jake and his party were plotting the same thing as before and got even more violent. Frederick and Helena's groups started to have a hard time holding them back, but Louise's experience helped her prepare the attack faster… in the end, they opened another path of destruction in the blink of an eye. It completely passed through the yetis lines and even damaged quite a bit the fifth line made of armored giants.
"What a boring bunch… let's go," Jake declared.
The group advanced again, but then Louise signalized for everyone to stop. She felt that something had changed in the air. After not so long, three more large enemies suddenly landed in front of the group…
"They are dungeon masters as well," Virgilius said.
