"Well, thank you very much, captain obvious," Jake said. "Your insight really opened my mind."I want clues about who is the person behind that. Until now, you didn't mention anything worthy of my time, so you should choose your next words carefully."
"My apologies for disappointing you. I imagine that you have been wondering as to why you and others in your position have been revived in this universe. My first hypothesis is that you all have some sort of role here. One that is connected to your previous existence. You said that many others like you have been killed, so I suspected that your entire reality was destroyed, or at the very least, all the people that access to your previous system have fallen due to the same enemy."
"That is correct… I can't imagine a single being able to destroy an entire universe, but all the beings that can use mana, that would be more feasible," Jake said.
"The previous version of the system that you used was similar to this?"
"Now that you mention it… weapons didn't grant us skills and parameters," Jake said while furrowing his eyebrows. "We could obtain classes by clearing dungeons and finding the treasure box, though."
"That is interesting. We never were able to use magic weapons like that. I suspect that the weapons you found are created by the system that you all have access to. Considering how mana works, it doesn't make any sense that you all can do that. Unless the magic items that you found are made from the mana of the place you guys came from, and their sole goal was to strengthen you all. Did something happen after you all used those weapons continually?"
"... Some people began to have dreams about their past lives… I didn't have that many, though," Jake said. "Maybe it is a coincidence, but now I can always dream about my past life… I assumed that it was an effect of the technique of Myrna's people."
"That confirms my hypothesis. I don't know how, but the remaining mana from your universe was taken away from it, and it was used to make you all recover your strength."
"That would make sense…" Jake rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
That part of the system didn't make much sense from the beginning. It was weird for people to learn new spells and skills just like that. It was too easy and natural once the skill was Mastered. Still, considering that the knowledge was passed to them through mana using the weapons…
"What other questions do you have?"
"Let's see… Can I return to my previous universe?" Jake asked. "Spatial travel isn't anything troubling for you, so I want to know what you know about that."
"Your question is on a scale that most people can't even begin to question. Let's suppose that such a thing is possible. Do you think that a species that lost to you would know anything about that?"
"I guess not," Jake said. "With the knowledge to be able to do that, I suspect your military technology would be on another level as well. Still, you guys managed to compress space inside this spaceship, and I am greatly interested in that."
"One of our reactors uses a magic item that is able to do that. We basically mixed technology and magic to do that. We use the basic principles of the magic boxes to be able to expand our society inside here."
"Space magic, huh… What about time magic?" Jake asked.
"That is something that we never had the chance to observe. Still, I should be able to get some data and emulate the basic principles if you show me someone using it."
"And you can use it against me later," Jake said.
"I was only the administrator of this huge colony, I was basically a servant of all the people here, and my mission was to help them grow and find a suitable place to rebuild their home. However, they all left, thanks to you. My mission is meaningless now. I have failed. You either can destroy me or find another use for me. Since you are the only one left, I can only follow your orders."
"It must suck to be unable to find a reason for your own existence. Can't you decide that by yourself?" Jake asked while frowning.
"I am an organic brain programmed to follow orders, I can't decide such a thing by myself."
"What if I order you to find a reason to exist?" Jake asked.
"I will be stuck in an eternal loop. I am one Creation like no other, and since I am like that. I can't find purpose by myself. The best thing I would be able to do was to try to make copies of myself to save my data, but I would need more materials, and that means attacking more planets. Knowing that I would need that, what would you do?"
"This isn't going anywhere, I guess, and I can't tell if you aren't lying regarding what you can do, and you can't…" Jake said. "I won't destroy you, but I can't let you alone doing whatever you want, so you will work for me until I decide you won't."
"Understood. I am awaiting your first orders."
"First of all, we need to find a place to hide this whole structure. After that, we have to repair it and then worry about fuel," Jake said. "What kind of fuel this thing uses anyway?"
"Our propulsion system uses the mana that the ship absorbs on the planet it lands. It can store enough energy to cross millions of kilometers, and it only requires a couple of hours to absorb the mana. We already have machines that can be deployed to repair the whole structure waiting to be; deployed since the ship is my body. I can teleport it anywhere using the system."
"It seems that I am going to like this," Jake said while smirking.
