Throwing caution to the wind, Lara shot forward. Her eyes were teary and worry was evident on her face as she reached her unconscious husband in a matter of seconds.
Holding up his head, Lara began to sob.
"Wake up, Darling…wake up!!" She screamed hysterically, causing Dilan to feel bad.
'Maybe I shouldn't have delivered the final blow?' He wondered, just to ignore the guilt in his heart. There was also a painful sting in his heart, originating from his jealousy.
His sister didn't even notice that he was standing right next to her because she paid her full attention to the person she loved the most; her husband.
'She really loves him a lot…' Dilan thought once again and the desire to slap Clark on the back of his head grew exponentially.
It was quite hard to imagine that someone as weird of a persona as Clark Mekaz was able to find a wife, who loved him like Lara.
"Yo, can you calm down a little bit, little pest," Dilan said in an overly serious manner, causing everyone to gasp for air.
Most people had forgotten that Dilan was an intruder when seeing how the wife of Clark Mekaz had rushed over to his rescue.
Her loud crying and her worry had been more than enough to distract everyone to the extent that they had temporarily forgotten about Dilan's existence.
"Don't interrupt me, and don't call me a little pest! Only my sis–..." Lara glared at Dilan while holding her husband's head. Yet, upon recalling something her head flicked over to the young man, who had been holding her husband for quite a while now.
"You are as loud as ever!" Dilan sighed but he smiled from ear to ear as he added lightly, "How can you only look at your husband and ignore your little brother, who came from so far away? I'm shocked how much someone can change after falling in love…"
He was obviously only joking with his sister but teasing her in the extremes was quite enjoyable. He felt like saying something else but stopped himself when the expression of his shell-shocked sister changed from confusion to shock.
Lara stared at him with widened eyes, her jaw dropped to the ground and her whole body froze.
"I really didn't expect that I would become an Uncle at such a young age, let alone that you will be the first one to become a mother…this poor child will suffer because of you!" Dilan ended up adding another tease, but even before he could close his mouth, let alone fix Clark's posture, Lara had already embraced him with a tight hug.
She hugged him tightly and began to bawl her eyes out.
"I thought you were dead!!" Lara cried out, saying the same thing as Marie.
"You two are really sisters," Dilan spoke lightly, using his only free hand to pat his sister lightly on her back.
He had to hold onto Clark to make sure that he wouldn't fall on the concrete. Lara had momentarily forgotten about her husband's condition. Her full focus was on the fact that her little brother was still alive, against all odds!
Time passed slowly and the spectators were confused about what was going on.
The powerful intruder, who had broken through all defensive lines, and knocked out everyone without killing anyone, was getting hugged by the Lady of the Marshal, for half an hour at that.
Lara had been crying for a long time, and asked numerous questions without letting him out of her hug for even a single second, while everyone else was trying to figure out the situation.
A medic had pulled Clark Mekaz out of Dilan's grasp to make sure that he could get tended to if necessary. However, it was found out that Clark was not really injured. There were only a few bruises all over his body and a scratch in the center of his forehead right between his eyebrows.
Even the other Ascenders were doing a little bit worse than Clark in regard to their health, yet, none of them was severely injured. It wouldn't even take half a day for all of them to heal as they were already Tier 3 Ascenders.
Dilan had held back a lot in his earlier fight and had made sure that he wouldn't use too much force when punching the others.
When everyone realized that Dilan had never intended to actually harm anyone, the situation became even more confusing. It was incomprehensible why Dilan didn't try to go down the official way to meet with Lara if he wanted to meet her.
To most Ascenders, it was an unnecessary hassle Dilan had done just for the sake of trying to show off how strong he was.
Nonetheless, he showed the Mekaz Military base quite clearly that their defenses were far from perfect. In a way, that could be considered an advantage, and a reminder not to act too arrogant in front of others.
It was almost as if Lara Cier's guest had taught everyone in the military base a valuable lesson, though at the expense of the military base.
The Elemental Bullets and the Magic Missiles they fired at Dilan were extremely valuable and the loss they incurred thanks to Dilan was not something they could overlook easily.
But, of course, Dilan couldn't care less about that.
When Lara's tears had finally ceased, Dilan pushed her lightly away from him.
"Looks like you've been doing well," He said with a proud smile on his face.
"Hmm," Lara responded with a smile on her face. She caressed her belly and recalled her husband once again.
Her head flicked in all directions until she saw her husband, who had just awoken from his unconscious state.
Lara rushed over to Clark while Dilan watched them patiently.
"So you are Lara's…younger brother? The brother, who was supposed to be dead?" Clark Mekaz asked after a while, looking at Dilan in suspicion.
It was quite obvious that Clark didn't believe Dilan, but that was to be expected. Even if the Primordial Ascension had occurred, it was still not possible for the dead to awaken.
"That's me, yes," Dilan gave Clark a nod.
"What are you doing here?" Clark asked sternly, causing Dilan to lift both eyebrows. Lara stared blankly at her husband and it was only then that Clark noticed he had asked the question in the wrong way.
"I didn't mean it that way…" He quickly added before he reformed his question, "I was just wondering why you're visiting us first. Your oldest sister needs help far more than Lara. We can protect her very well…but we couldn't get Marie to us. So…I was wondering why you came to us instead of using your strength to save and protect Marie!"
Dilan stared deep into Clark's eyes, which was enough to tell Dilan that Clark was being sincere with his question. His sentence structure was messed up, but that might be caused by the aftermath of having been unconscious for the last half an hour.
Thus, Dilan took a deep breath to calm himself and to tell himself that it was a bad decision to beat up his brother-in-law, for a second time at that.
"First of all, you guys are far from enough to protect my sister. If I am already more than enough to obliterate the entire military base, I cannot trust you with my sister's life.
As for the other 'question' you asked, would you give me permission to bring a guest and my sister?"
