Chapter 912: A Strange And New Experience
The images flashing in the little girl’s mind had now come to an end but that did not mean her dream had ended as well.
The entire episode she had just witnessed was a repetition of something she had already seen in the past.
However, the next set of images that now began to pour into her mind were the ones that she had never seen before, bringing a frown to the sleeping girl’s face.
Not only were these sights new to her but everything taking place now was both strange and new as she had never experienced anything of this sort ever before.
The little girl’s previous dream which she had seen on the night of the Tanner tea party had revealed to her the conversation that had taken place between the three best friends and the eldest daughter of the Jorbin family.
Even the incident they were talking about was something she was aware of, thanks to the memories of ‘Yvonne’ from the script.
However, what she was experiencing right now was nowhere close to what she had already seen a few days ago.
.....
Right now, Yvonne’s shut eyes continued to flutter with unease as she tried to focus on what was happening next in her dream.
___
The images of the young ladies seated at the Pavilion behind the Rose Palace had now disappeared and in its place, Yvonne could catch glimpses of a hazy figure standing at a distance away from her.
The little girl had already experienced how it felt to view the world from someone else’s perspective as she had done so numerous times in such dreams, mainly witnessing events mentioned in the script through the eyes of ‘Yvonne’.
Therefore, she did not take much time to realize that she was now watching the world from someone else’s perspective.
Yet at the same time, she was curious to know who this was as it was obvious to her that this person wasn’t ‘Yvonne’.
However, she gained no answer so she could only focus her attention on the sight before her in order to find some clues about the numerous questions bubbling in her mind right now.
The view before her that she was observing through this unknown figure’s perspective surely was focused on someone who seemed to be standing at a large distance away from where she was.
On a busy street with numerous individuals walking about, only one figure at a distance away had managed to catch her eye.
Her gaze was fixed on this person, a young man dressed in mediocre clothing and sporting a straw hat that cast a shadow over his face, as she observed them unblinkingly.
Even if Yvonne wished to look away as she found nothing special about the male figure whose back was turned in her direction, the eyes she was viewing this scene from refused to act according to her desires.
Therefore, the little girl could only follow the man’s figure as he strode in the opposite direction, away from her.
Only when he was out of her sight was she able to look away, averting her gaze to the other person next to her.
“Let us leave.” A soft feminine voice she was awfully familiar with was heard, stunning Yvonne when she realized whose perspective she was viewing the world from.
Her dazed mind which was filled with confusion was shaken when she finally realized that until now, this person was seated inside a carriage as she looked in the direction of the man for the past many minutes.
After he had left her line of sight, she no longer wished to remain here and thus had asked the maid with her to instruct the carriage driver about their departure.
As Yvonne was trying to fill in the gaps in her thoughts based on what she had seen, the scene before her shifted, displaying a new sight now.
___
The sounds of numerous ladies giggling and snickering could be heard but her line of sight was fixed on the young lady who had been standing stiff at the end of their group.
Unlike the scene from before, Yvonne was able to recognize the one at the center of everyone’s attention with a single glance.
‘Hilda...’ She frowned as she fixed her gaze on the young lady with fluffy brown hair.
Contrary to the lavish dresses the other ladies were seen donning, Hilda, the daughter of a Baron, had appeared at this social event dressed in a plain peach gown.
Despite the obvious lack of ornaments and accessories, she somehow managed to shine brighter than the others who had put much effort into their appearance for today’s sake.
‘The halo of the female lead.’ Yvonne harrumphed at the Bird God who had made it so that his main character was at the center of everyone’s attention at all times.
“Lady Melissa is being kind enough to let you show off your skills so make good use of it.” One lady, whom she did not recognize, smiled at Lady Hilda while stepping close to her.
Before Yvonne could make sense of what was happening, the same lady held Hilda’s arm and dragged her along without an ounce of hesitation in her movements.
As she watched a stunned Hilda taking her seat in front of a piano, the little girl finally realized what she was observing right now.
‘The incident they were discussing earlier!’ She declared while recalling the first scene she had seen soon after falling asleep this afternoon.
The party where Lady Hilda had been targeted by Melissa Jorbin was the one she was watching right now and to top it off, she was witnessing this sight from the eyes of the hostess herself.
Right now, Hilda was seated frozen before a bright red piano, bringing a newer frown to the child’s lips.
However, she wasn’t given enough time to mull over every aspect she was witnessing as the female lead of this world had risen from her seat before she ran out of the room without looking back even once.
As they watched her run away in haste, the other ladies showed no signs of remorse for what had just taken place.
They had clearly seen the tears trickling down Hilda’s face but only snickered and whispered among themselves, not bothering to conceal the contempt evident in their tone and their eyes.
Amidst this chaotic scene, there was only one person who sat in absolute silence as she did not partake in the ongoing discussion.
However, the moment she cleared her throat, the rest stopped at once as they waited to hear what she had to say.
“It looks like the rumors about Lady Hilda not being able to learn properly had some truth in it.” Lady Melissa’s voice wasn’t too loud but her words were clear for everyone to hear.
The meaning behind those words also resounded in their minds without any doubt and thus the latest rumor of Lady Hilda not knowing the basic skill of playing the piano was born.
It was Melissa Jorbin who had instigated the ladies and also sat without intervening when Lady Hilda was dragged toward the piano.
She watched in silence as the Baron’s daughter panicked and sat frozen before the piano until she could take no more of their taunting words and rushed out of the room.
Not bothering to follow and console her, Melissa Jorbin had done quite the opposite instead.
She was the reason why the ladies of the noble society had come to realize that Lady Hilda’s former commoner upbringing was the cause of her lacking education.
There had been rumors about Lady Hilda’s past but many were unbelieving.
Unfortunately, those who had personally witnessed this incident were the pioneers in spreading the news about it.
Their deeds had only strengthened the doubts about her education, making them look at her with colored lenses.
However, no one cared about the reputation of the lady they were dragging through the mud as someone of higher status was looking forward to witnessing the same.
Therefore, henceforth, only negative rumors about Lady Hilda were prevalent in their society at every event that took place.
___
The scene before Yvonne’s eyes changed once again, bringing her back to the Pavilion where the four ladies from earlier had been seated.
The little girl continued to view the world through Lady Melissa’s perspective so she could scan every single expression of the three best friends before her.
“Lady, your answer does not soothe my curiosity in the least bit.” The Princess smiled while revealing her thoughts but that smile caused Melissa to stiffen up.
As Yvonne was able to see what Melissa was seeing, she could also feel what that young lady was feeling.
Therefore, as the lady finally revealed why she had acted against Hilda in response to the Princess’s words, Yvonne could sense animosity, despair, and also heartache bubbling up within her all at once.
While it was obvious that the animosity was aimed at Hilda, the despair she felt was directed towards herself whereas the heartache was for someone else.
A third party had been involved, the one whom ‘Yvonne’ and her friends had assumed to be the cause of this unexpected feud to begin in the first place.
At this moment, as Yvonne could feel everything Melissa was, she also had a faint idea of who this unmentioned person was.
‘Who asked her to not care about the treasure she has but run after what isn’t even hers?’ Melissa’s inner thoughts echoed in the little girl’s mind as well.
As those thoughts grew in her mind, an image of a certain somebody she had seen earlier began to resurface in her mind.
Dark grey hair that shone under the sun, sparkling green eyes, and...
