Chapter 906: Appreciating The Party
Yvonne’s assumptions were right as the moment their group entered the actual venue of the tea party which happened to be different from where they had been gathered earlier, she caught sight of numerous familiar faces who had been absent before.
This new open area had large tables arranged at an appropriate distance from each other.
The tables were close enough to allow everyone to converse without having to raise their voice above what was deemed proper according to their society’s etiquette but at the same time, it wasn’t cramped that could make one feel uncomfortable.
The Duchess had put in a lot of thought while planning this event for such a large guest list and her efforts were visible for everyone to see and appreciate right now.
Once the group of children had arrived at this new place, Topher and Damien were the first to separate from them as they headed in the direction of the older boys who had gathered not far from where they stood.
Howard and Taylor too reluctantly moved to a different table as the girls would have to sit together.
Lyon Jorbin did not mind where he sat as long as he was with his idol so followed them without much thought.
.....
Since the guests invited for this party weren’t limited to just the main branches of most noble families residing in the Capital, the members of the side branches had also been present here today.
Hence a large number of tables had been arranged and thankfully, the spacious training ground behind the Tanner estate was able to accommodate them all.
Following the same theme as the party previously organized by the Duchess, the adults were arranged to sit together while the children were left to mingle as they pleased.
Yvonne scanned her surroundings and widened her eyes when she found her grandfather seated at one of the tables as well.
She had not expected to find Grandpa Valente at this event so the surprise on her face was genuine which later morphed into a pleasant smile when she saw that he was seated next to her parents.
There was also Marquess Samed and Captain Desmo Reel, who also happened to be a noble, at the same table as her parents and grandfather.
At another table close to theirs, she found the two Ducal couples from the Tanner and Brodie families seated together as they held the highest status at this tea party.
Since each table could only accommodate five seats, most were occupied by couples with an extra seat left vacant for anyone else to claim.
Yvonne was bound to receive a second surprise when she caught sight of Earl Blaise using this extra seat, squeezing himself with the Leopold and the Carter couples.
‘He did not get his wife.’ She sneered when the rumors circling him came to mind.
She had assumed that he would stay away from public settings at least until the heat concerning his affair and betrayal subsided but it appeared that she had thought wrong.
What was even worse was that he was currently conversing pleasantly with Marchioness Leopold, the main cause of his affair being aired out in public.
Watching this sight made her frown at how they were pretending to be close and amicable when the reality wasn’t so.
To lower the chances of them noticing the disgruntled expression that formed while looking their way, she decided to avert her attention elsewhere.
Thankfully, this helped her find people she had a pleasant opinion about soon enough.
The Kiron couple had asked Marchioness Jorbin to join them as her husband wasn’t in the Capital right now.
However, the pleasant atmosphere at their table was ruined when the Yona couple chose to take their seats with them.
Despite their obvious distaste towards the Marchioness of foreign origin, they had chosen this table which made Yvonne applaud their determination to stay close to the Kiron family.
With just a glance at the stiff air around them, the little girl could deduce how uncomfortable that table could be right at this moment.
‘I pity him...’ She clicked her tongue while averting her gaze from them, in search of the one who had just come to her mind.
As she was looking around, her gaze halted when she found someone else.
The elderly man she had seen earlier had once again appeared in her line of sight.
However, even now she knew nothing about this person so she chose to observe who else he was seated with.
Earl Brax Mikren, whom she had thought to be one of the most handsome older men she had seen after arriving in this world, turned in her direction at the very next moment.
As though he had sensed her gaze landing on him, he nodded at her to acknowledge her while shooting her a brief smile that faded before anyone else could catch sight of it.
Once this wordless and startling greeting had come to an end, he once again turned away and continued his conversation with the elderly man who was seated next to him.
Yvonne gulped in surprise at this unexpected interaction as even her father had never been able to catch her sneaking peeks at him right away due to her covert and cautious actions.
However, Earl Mikren seemed much quicker in his instincts as he had managed to notice her in just a moment, making her wonder just how keen his senses were.
Sadly, she would gain no answers as that man had already turned away and was now busy discussing something serious with those at his table.
At that table, Yvonne also found someone who made her brow raise in astonishment.
“Is that man related to you?” She leaned closer to Aleena who had been by her side, inquiring about the one who had just caught her eye.
Following her line of sight, the elder daughter of the Kiron family smiled proudly once she realized who her friend was talking about.
“My eldest brother.” Her reply was brief but even this much was sufficient for Yvonne to piece the puzzle together.
The man she had just seen was an identical replica of Marquess Kiron which was also the reason for her earlier query.
Therefore, hearing this reply solved the mystery in her mind and she nodded to express her gratitude for the swift answer she had received.
‘Maximillian Kiron, the youngest professor at the Royal Academy.’ She repeated the information she had about the eldest son of the Kiron family.
Just as she was about to recollect what else she knew about this man, she heard her neighbor speaking up once again.
“And that other person is Elna’s elder brother.” Aleena divulged in a whisper before pursing her lips.
Yvonne’s gaze moved from the heir of the Kiron family and soon fixed on the second youngster at that table, who she now knew happened to be the heir of the Leopold family.
‘Jozef Leopold.’ She searched her memory and soon found what he was called.
Right next to this young man was another elderly from the same family whom she had met in the past.
Hence she wasn’t too curious about this man but chose to focus her attention on the only unknown figure she had seen today.
‘I can just ask her.’ Yvonne realized that she could seek help from her friend and thus leaned closer to Aleena, whispering her query in the other girl’s ear.
The eldest daughter of the Kiron family wasn’t yet used to how Yvonne got closer to her out of nowhere so as she always did, this time as well, she blushed before replying to the question she had been asked.
“That is Dean Brodie, he runs the Royal Academy,” Aleena explained the identity of the elderly who was seated at the same table as her eldest brother.
This answer brought newfound understanding to the little girl who nodded her head in return.
‘That explains why I did not know who he was.’ Yvonne thought to herself as she had never been inside the Academy and hence had never gotten the chance to see the man who was in charge of that place
Therefore, as she scanned the faces at that table, she realized that everyone present there was famous in their own right.
Having her curiosity from earlier taken care of, Yvonne could finally glance around as there was nothing else for her to do at this tea party.
Right now, she was seated at the same table with the Jorbin triplets and Aleena Kiron.
Rika had excused herself and gone to find her close friend, Glennise, as soon as they had entered this area.
The others did not mind as Rika and Miss Glennise were Princess Felicia’s playmates and thus were on better terms as they met on a daily basis.
Anyone who wished to get close to Duke Brodie’s only child had attempted to gain a seat at the table but not everyone had succeeded.
Right now, at that table, Glennise, Rika, and two of the younger daughters of the Carter family were seated.
With them was Elna Leopold who was now smiling elegantly as she conversed with the Duke’s daughter.
Not far from their table, Cecily Yona sat with Jasmine Carter claiming the seat next to hers.
‘It is clear why she wants to stick closer to Cecily.’ Yvonne rolled her eyes while thinking of the rumors about Jasmine’s feelings towards Zimon Yona.
There was also Mae Blaise and Silvia Zavanth as well as another daughter of a side branch whom Yvonne had never met before.
It appeared that Elna had abandoned these girls the moment Glennise Brodie had arrived but this wasn’t something she cared about.
Instead, she fixed her gaze on the silver-haired young girl and once again wondered why this friend of hers had blatantly ignored her earlier.
‘I should ask her about it.’ Yvonne decided as she could not think of anything that she had done to offend Silvia which could justify the response she had received earlier today.
