Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!
Chapter 357 - Miss Has A Fever
Chapter 357 - Miss Has A Fever
The next morning, the entire Mansion of the St. Claire's family was in a state of chaos.
The reason for this was the burning temperature of the Young Miss which failed to decrease no matter what they did.
When Roselie had returned in the morning to wake her Miss for the Sunday morning breakfast, she realized that the same scenario as yesterday had taken place.
However, this time, the little girl's face was flushed and her body's temperature was so high that the young maid had to instantly pull her hand away which she had placed on her forehead.
Roselie did not waste another moment as she rushed to the Butler to inform him of what she had witnessed.
She found Butler Limo standing outside the Master's bedroom, waiting for the Master and Madam to get dressed.
"Butler, Miss has a high fever and she can't stop trembling." She announced in a loud voice due to her panicked state.
Her words reached the couple who were talking to each other after they had gotten prepared to exit the room.
Without further delay, Rutherford and Raylene burst out of the room when they heard these words and strode away in the direction of their child.
Howard had been waiting in the Dining Room for his family to arrive but was soon informed about this news which made him move in the same direction.
Right now, the three family members were inside her room as they watched the little girl on the bed.
Raylene sat by the head of the bed and continued to wipe the child's forehead with a damp cloth to lower her temperature.
On the other hand, Rutherford was commanding his Butler to fetch for the best physician from the Royal Medical Association and ordered him to hurry.
At first, he wished to call for their family physician, Mr. Toone but the long journey on the roads after the heavy rains would be considered dangerous so he gave up on that idea.
This was also because he needed to find a good physician at the earliest so he chose the only other option he had.
Howard sat on the other side of her bed and could only watch as their mother held in her tears while tending to the little girl.
It was supposed to be a quiet Sunday where the family could spend time together but this had tossed their peace out the window as they worried about the abrupt deterioration of the little girl's health.
Roselie kept bringing fresh water for the Madam to dip the cloth in every few minutes.
She was diligent and her face showed her concern for the child laid on the bed.
The Earl tapped his finger on his elbow, something he did when he got impatient as his eyes remained fixed on the bed.
The tiny figure who had been so energized yesterday was now on the bed huddling into a ball.
Her face was flushed due to the heat in her body but at the same time, her body was shivering as though she was cold.
The mother had swaddled her in the sheets to keep her warm and continued to place the damp cloth over her head.
'She looks so weak…' Howard observed how she looked so tiny and fragile in her current state.
This only strengthened his conviction of becoming the heir and not letting her suffer the insult or face the schemes of the noblemen in their society.
While he was in his thoughts, the competent Butler had returned with a physician in tow.
The old man who had come with the Butler glanced at the child on the bed and then at the crowded room.
"Please, do not crowd the room." He requested but his stern eyes proved that he was not asking for their opinion in this matter.
Immediately, Butler Limo, Roselie, and even Howard were sent outside while the parents chose to remain where they were.
Raylene stood next to her husband as the old physician took her place on the bed.
Then took place a series of tests that were routine to check the cause of the sudden fever that the girl was suffering from.
A few minutes passed and now the man was holding onto her tiny wrist as he took note of the pace of her heartbeat.
Turning around after he placed her wrist back on the bed, the man nodded while gazing at the worried parents.
"The sudden change of weather might cause fever and it is fairly common among children her age." He diagnosed her issue with ease.
This was the classic case of feeling under the weather due to the sudden temperature drop caused by the heavy rains.
The parents were relieved that it wasn't a grave sickness but they were also worried.
"Why hasn't she woken up yet?" Rutherford inquired as his daughter had failed to wake up even when so many people were in her room.
"Fatigue and exhaustion due to the fever are making her sleep for longer." The answer was quick and confident.
The old man then reassured them that she would wake up in a few hours and the fever too would be gone before the end of the day.
He then handed over a prescription for the medicines she should take once she wakes up and explained the other precautions and suggestions to help her heal better.
"You can call for me if the fever doesn't subside by tomorrow afternoon." He added if this ever occurred but he was sure that he would not be needed.
The parents then thanked the old physician and paid him for his services after which they instructed the Butler to escort him back to his house.
The medicine was soon brought over and fed to the unconscious child with a glass of water to help her swallow it.
The room returned to its silence as they gazed at the little girl and decided to trust the old man's words.
Roselie was ordered to keep a close watch on the Miss while the family returned to eat their first meal of the day.
Though they were upset about this, they had to continue their daily routine so that they might not fall ill as well.
The kitchen staff was also alerted about the new meal plan for the sick Miss and they got to work instantly.
Back inside her bedroom, Yvonne continued to sleep and this time she wasn't shivering and whimpering as a result of the medicine she had consumed.
The girl laying on the bed, sleeping without a care had no idea that the news of her fever had even reached the ears of a certain someone in the Royal family as well.
However, her immune system was too busy trying to fight off the fever that she did not have time to care about this matter.
With this incident coupled with the gloomy surroundings as the rains persisted, Sunday at the St. Claire Mansion was a silent one.
When evening came, Howard was packing his stuff up when he heard a knock on the door.
Looking up, he found his mother standing there with a smile and soon entered the room to help him pack.
"You couldn't have fun with Vonny because she is sick." Raylene frowned at what had taken place but smiled when she saw him shake his head.
"Her health is more important." He stated and truly meant it.
The two then sat on the bed and spoke for a while longer, a conversation meant to be revealed another time, and then exited the room together.
They went to visit the little girl who had not yet awakened though it was time for Howard to leave.
If he did not leave his evening then getting back on Monday morning would be a massive rush that he wanted to avoid.
Sadly, his sister was still down with the fever and could not come to see him off so he decided to visit her before he left.
Howard frowned when he saw that she was still unconscious as she laid there and hoped for her to get better.
His friend would be arriving soon to pick him up and this news could not reach Taylor at any costs.
Therefore, Howard decided to bid goodbye to his sister right now and wait downstairs for his friend to arrive.
This way, he could greet him as soon as he arrives and pull him away before he could inquire about his little sister.
Rutherford agreed with this idea and they did just as Howard had suggested.
Thus, right now, the Earl and Countess were waving at the carriage which was moving away from their Mansion after the two boys had gotten into it.
