Alexander just stared at Long Jie in dread and remorse, but there was nothing he could do now. Long Jie was right that he was the enemy now and he knew better than anyone else what would be his outcome!

Yet, he was not afraid of death, it didn't matter how painful or torturous it would be, but still, there was something he was scared of. And it was dying at the hands of Zhenyi. He couldn't face her and it would be better if he died at the hands of Long Jie.

Thus, he planned to provoke Long Jie.

"You can say anything you want and even believe it, but I won't fall into your words," the reply came from Alexander.

Long Jie shook his head in resignation. "You can provoke me all you want but, let me tell you, it won't work. I won't unload the bullets in your head so easily no matter how much my hands itch to do so." Long Jie stood and walked near him, the fountain pen swiveling on his fingertips like a spinning top. He said in a whisper near his ear, " I will see you bleed to death."

Seeing his plan was not working on Long Jie, Alexader struggled even more.

"Whatever you say!" Alexander said with a chuckle.

Alexander checked his coat pocket and took out a chip. He examined it before his eyes as he placed it in his palm. Long Jie's gaze fell on the chip in his palm, a look of understanding flashed into his cunning eyes, but he still maintained the look of his signature indifference.

"Here, I know I signed the death warrant when I chose to protect my wife and kid over the boss, but don't even think for a moment that I regret what I did. A true man will always choose his family over anything else in the world," Alexander told Long Jie and handed him the chip.

He let out a long sigh of defeat. "I also agree that the path I took was wrong. I could have avoided it but I chose not to and no one else but I am solely credible for the accident which could have been averted in the first place."

Long Jie was initially angry at him, but now all he felt for him was a pity, yet not enough to forgive him. The fool could have avoided the course of his ill fate but he didn't and what was the benefit of regret now?

Regret and sorry. Earthlings have an unusual fondness for these two words. They do things that they should not and when it backfires. They say 'sorry' or 'I regret it'.

Would these have made any difference? Does it ever? It's just two words. Two words against a thousand actions. And actions which are unpardonable and unjustifiable.

Alexander was not wrong either but the path he chose, it was wrong. Very much wrong. Had he bothered to do things differently, the outcome would have surely been different. But only if he knew...

Long Jie sat back on the chair, he was staring at Alexander in the dark as his fist was placed under his chin.

" There is no use crying over split milk," said Long Jie in a very bored manner. " But again, information on the enemy is always welcome."

Long Jie had no idea what information Alexander had gathered or if it even was useful but as he said information on the enemy was always welcome. Didn't matter how small the information was! Because sometimes even a tiny flicker was enough to burn down the entire forest and Long Jie was in search of that catalyst that would heighten the blaze into a great fire.

Alexander pursed his lips. "You will get all the information on the enemy in this chip. I don't know who he is or what he wants, but I know one thing that he has been trying to annihilate the whole Xin Clan. You can't even fathom the magnitude of his hate for Xins. Master Yichen is trying to find him for decades now but the enemy is extremely capable of perishing the leads and so, no one ever reached him."

He paused and glanced at Long Jie's quiet face and went on," Boss has also known it for as long as I can remember. She didn't come here for you or to marry you either, Long Jie."

Long Jie didn't say anything as he called him by his name again. He had an inkling that his wife didn't marry him because of his grandfather as he initially thought. The more time he spent with her, the more he knew what a complex character she really was. Although she was not a very complex character, it was just that her actions and behaviour were just so unpredictable. Unpredictable enough to drive any sane man crazy!

Alexander thought that his words were affecting Long Jie and so he didn't try to hold back. Since he would be dying, what was the use of keeping his mouth sealed?

"My boss has no feelings for you, Long Jie. Since I will be dying very soon then let me tell you something, my boss has been an excellent actress," said Alexander as if he was giving Long Jie a piece of very important advice but in reality, he was trying to break their relationship.

And why Alexander did so? It was solely because he was a Long, the only ancestry they had declared as enemies from the time they had taken the oath. The original purpose of the marriage of ameliorating the animosity between the two families was not achieved yet. Though the two bosses were trying their best, it was still not simple to change the mindset of the soldiers under them. They still consider each other their sole enemy. It was something Long Jie and Zhenyi had to alleviate once she woke up because if it continued, they might face a rebellion in their army soon.
