"I've exclusive rights to you," said Long Jie. " And you agreed too."
What in the world was he allowing this woman to do to him? Every time he thought they reach a common juncture, she'd just dumped a verdict on his head and they were back to square one.
And what did she even mean by excluding the exclusivity of their relationship? Did she want an open marriage?
Then she could dream on if she even thought for a flick of second that he would agree to her bizarre term.
Zhenyi scoffed. " Again what I am? An item to be patent solely by you?"
Long Jie shook his head mirthlessly. He remembered that it was the same answer she provided him last time when he talked about exclusive terms for their relationship.
He pulled her closer to him with a jerk. His voice was low at her ear, " I told you that no one touched my wife but me. You want an open marriage eh? Dream on."
"You can't stop me," she said, almost daring him.
"I can't? Naive baby... naive." He inhaled her scent which was not her perfume but her body's unique fragrance." I'll kill every man you will dare to touch. You fucking belong to me and get it inside your pretty little head."
Long Jie was not kidding when he said he'd kill every man she dared to touch because he couldn't touch her, he was not capable enough to touch even a strand of her hair. He'd die before hurting her.
"You don't own me," She spoke, proving a point but to whom it was not cleared yet.
"I don't own you but you still belong to me," He said as a matter of fact.
She wanted to be offended, but his voice lacing with feral possessiveness and innuendo wasn't any different than what she'd been wanting all night.
"I'm giving you a way out, Jie. A way out from the unwanted agreement. You have three years, you can live the life you longed for away from your unwanted wife. Also, you get what you wanted in return for marrying me, " said Zhenyi. She paused and then asked him in almost a whisper," What's stopping you now?"
He glanced at her, his eyes shining with something Zhenyi couldn't decipher as he asked, "Do I ever asked for a way out? Do I ever tell you that you are not wanted? He paused and then asked her as he met his forehead with hers," Do I ever told you that I do not want you?"
'Touch me, Cat eyes, and find if I don't want you,' he wanted to say.
"What's stopping you, Jie?" She whispered instead.
"You. You are stopping me from the way out. You are stopping me from the other women. You are stopping me from everything that says I'll lose you if have them."
"You already lost me." She said, their eyes still connected and their forehead leaned against each other.
"I know. I know it, Cat eyes. I know it too fucking well. I also know what I have to do to get you back." And suddenly the course of conversation shifted.
This was not what Zhenyi had expected when she confronted him. She had agreed not to ask him anything regarding him or his business. It was not her business as to what he did, where he went, and who he met. He was free and his own person.
"It's too late now," Zhenyi said lowering her eyes.
"Is it? " He rasped. "Never is too late. You can always start now."
"Ask me, Zhenyi how much I want you?"He brushed a strand of hair off her forehead.
"I don't want to."
"Ask me ,Zhenyi how I spent the last four days without you? " He pulled her even closer snaking his arm around her waist.
"I don't need to know."
"Ask me Zhenyi where I was?"He wiggled her arms around his abdomen before circling his arms around her waist again.
"It is none of my business."
His thumb brushed softly over the arc of her lips as another finger went to her chin again aiming to meet his eyes yet again, "Ask me, Cat eyes. Ask me anything you want to know. You have a chance now."
Zhenyi stared at him. People say that eyes are windows to the soul. Never was that more true than with Long Jie, who only revealed himself through his eyes rather than words. She just had to look at him and his eyes would answer all the questions that her heart had been wanting to raise. Such a connection they had.
Unfortunately, everything had an expiry date so had their so-called relationship or real marriage or whatever they preferred.
"Your grandmother unknowingly taught me the biggest lesson of my life, Jie. She taught me that I should not dig into the past which doesn't belong to me. I have a feeling that if I move forward, my life will never be the same. The answers I'm needing to get will change the course of our lives forever and it will not be in a good way."
She shook herself from his hold and turned around before saying, "Let's stop here, Jie. Let's end it here before we break each other again to the point of never getting whole."
"You are strong, Zhenyi. You are not like me: a coward and a weakling," he said with a breaking voice.
"We are better off each other, Jie. Your actions and talks have a huge difference. Your talks are too heavy for me and your actions, they are too frail to commit to you."
