Chapter 83:

“What are you doing to her, Nova?” Catrina asks, running up to us.

“Hmm, you guys already killed all the orcs on that side?” I said, glancing at her, not letting go of my grip on the mage’s neck.

“Yes, but can you please let her go? It doesn’t look like she can breathe,” Catrina said, looking at the blue mage.

“And why would I care if she dies?” I said, tilting my head at her.

“She is a guild employee. You will get banned from the guild if you do anything to them.” Catrina explains worriedly.

“Hmm, but I am also one, so who cares,” I said, shrugging while showing my silver plate with a guild mark on it. Having a guild mark means that I am an employee of the guild and a B-rank adventure, having the card being silver.

“It doesn’t matter. Let her go or else.” A deep voice came out from the forest before multiple people walked out, including the man who talked. Looking at the man that talked, I could guess he was probably the leader seeing him wearing the most expensive gear. Taking my eyes off him, I looked through his group of 17. Exactly the amount that was missing.

“Or else what? You attack me. Go for it. If you do, I have no promises that you will survive with all your limbs. Even if you attack me you left your own comrades back here to die. I aam certain you will be punished for that.” I said, smirking back at him, surprising him a bit.

.....

“...We had to. The Orc king was getting away. We couldn’t leave one of our healers behind for them in case we need them, or they get attacked.” The leader explains calmly, but I could see he felt conflicted.

“Multiple healers? You could have left one and some bodyguards. Then I wouldn’t have to...” I was busy talking when I felt the mage in my hands go limp. Looking at the girl, I struggled to hold in my laughter, seeing her passed out while her tongue was hanging out of her mouth. Chuckling, I dropped her to the ground.

“She isn’t dead, is she?” The leader asked, a bit worried.

“She will be fine, but you, on the other hand, won’t. What were you thinking? Leaving 23 injured people behind without a healer? If it weren’t for Kay, less than 5 people would have survived. maybe not even one.” I explain, getting more frustrated.

“You sound like a hypocrite. Wasn’t you who didn’t want to save everyone.” Gaby suddenly interjects.

‘What?’ I thought, glancing at Gaby.

“Gaby, now is not the time.” Catrine tried to calm him.

“No, she was talking to Kay alone. I bet there was another way to save more, but she wanted to keep her own secrets instead of saving people. Am I not right, Nova?” Gaby yelled, glaring at me.

‘What are they doing? Did they plan something?’ I thought with a sigh, looking at Gaby and the rest of his group making a half-circle around me except for Catrina that was still standing close next to me. I also couldn’t move backward as the guild member was standing there.

“What the hell, dude. Why are you getting so angry at me for? I don’t remember you making any useful plans when you talked with your own group? Excluding Catrina, might I add.” I said, getting annoyed and a surprised look from Catrina. Feeling the mage moving at my feet, I looked down and saw a dwarf trying to drag her away. Looking at him, I raised an eyebrow before saying. “What you doing? Did I say she can go away?”

“Bitch, she is our party member. You have no..ugh.” The dwarf said before getting kicked in the head.

“Oi, I don’t give a shit. She stole my kills, and she needs to pay for it,”?I said, kicking the dwarf again, sending him back to his group leaving the mage behind.

“...”

“...”

“Wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. Let me get this straight. You’re not actually angry because we left people behind. you are angry because Rin stole your kills.” The leader said, baffled.

“Yeah! I mean, today was the first time I kill things that aren’t human or close to it. I just wanted to feel how fun it will be ripping monsters apart.” I shouted, frustrated while stomping the ground multiple times.

“...” Hearing my words, everyone went silent.

“Sigh, what was the guild master thinking when he accepted your employment.” The leader said, shaking his head while holding it.

“Well, Ed and I made a deal...” While I was busy talking, I suddenly flashed Step away from my position, dodging a thrust from Dalton. Looking at him, annoyed, I said. “Oi, attacking like that is really low, Dalton,”

“What are you doing, Dalton!” Catrina and Mary yelled, looking baffled at him. While I could see Catrina was surprised, Mary looked more disappointed seeing him miss.

“Attacking your own party member! What are you thinking?” Multiple guild members shouted in surprise and anger.

“To think you could dodge that even if your exotic class,” Gaby said, disappointed while bringing his shield forward.

‘Didn’t I say I was a duel assassin? Oh, the wait is said I was a duel warrior, didn’t I? It makes sense they would think I am slower, but then again, I did... no, I never showed my full speed, did I.’ I thought while bringing my swords forward.

“Hmm, are you guys certain you want to do this. I mean, I think I have more people on my side... No, you not going to help me?” I said while looking at Gaby and the guild people around, only to see the leader shake his head at me, asking for help.

“No, this is your party. You need to sort them out.” The leader said, confusing me. Seeing my confusion, he added. “Rule number 45 for employees never interfere with party disputes even if it a fellow employee.”

“Who the fuck made that rule,” I shouted in disbelief.

“The King.” That was all the leader said before sitting down, indicating he won’t do anything.

“Dan did it! What is wrong with that guy!” I shouted, cursing Dan multiple times verbally. “From today forth, I fucken hate Dragonoid’s! They are dumb!”

“I am out! I have nothing to do with this. I only join this party a week ago anyway,” Catrina said, walking away or trying to before Mary blocked her way. “What are you doing, Mary. I don’t want to kill anyone.”

“We can’t have too many loose ends,” Mary said, smiling at Catrina trying to stab her. Before she could, a white chain grabbed Catrina’s legs and pulled her towards me.

“Loose ends? Did they already forget about you guys?” I said, looking back at the guild employees who had a confused expression, including the leader.

‘What does she mean by that? I mean, they are strong enough to win against all 17 of them.’ I thought while throwing Catrina towards the guild party, not caring if she gets hurt.

“Whatever, so you guys are targeting me right. then don’t get anyone else involved with our fight.”?I said with a sigh.

“Of course, if we bring your body to the federation. We can live a life of luxury for the rest of our lives.” Dalton said, looking at me like I was made out of gold.

‘I really should massacre that country as soon as I have enough power.’ I thought, shaking my head.

“Tsk, tsk, to think my hunch was right.” A feminine voice suddenly said from above us. I didn’t even need to look to know who it was.

“Your back faster than I thought, and what do you mean your hunch. I am certain I was the first one noticing them being weirdly interested in me,” I said, looking at her disappointed and betrayed. ‘That’s a lie. I never notice them doing that, Tehe’

“Don’t be like that. You wouldn’t have won anyway if you guys fought.” Kayda said, waving me off while smiling.

“I could at least try,” I said, annoyed at her bluntness.

‘I am still not going to stop my spell, though.’ I thought, glancing at the ground.

“And you Dev, what the hell is that rule? I never heard of something like that.” Kayda said, pointing at the leader while narrowing her eyes.

“K-K-Kayda, what are you doing here?” Dev stuttered with a nervous excretion.

“I was the one that got the dumb fox into the guild,” Kayda said, gesturing at me.

“Oi, that’s not nice,” I shouted, feeling wronged.

“Are you trying to cover up your mishap of letting your party die on you?” Kayda said, ignoring me while getting closer to the ground.

“No, of course not,” Dev said, shaking his hands defensively.

“You sure.”

“I feel ignored now,” Dalton muttered, feeling left out and forgot about his party betrayal.

‘No, we just don’t care about you guys dumb betrayal.’ I thought, looking at him deadpan before it turned into a smile.

“Oh right, you guys are still here,” I said, looking at them happily. Seeing an opening, my smile grew before multiple chains with blades at the ends shot out of the ground heading towards them.

“AAAH? What is this!” Gaby shouted when the chains embedded themself into his thighs and start pulling him down to the ground. Even though they were high levels, surprise attacks and being frozen from the inside made all of them fall to the ground groaning in pain. Even gaby being the one with the best defense, was brought down with just a bit more chains curled around his body than the rest.

“Cunning fox,” Kayda commented, looking at the chains that just capture 4 people without them even having a chance to fight back.

“That’s my nature, Kayda. Sigh, that took so much mana and time to prepare. I am pooped. Thank you for stalling.” I said, sitting down on the ground taking a breather.

“No problem~,” Kayda said, landing next to me while smiling happily.

“Wait, Did you guys just use us as a decoy,” Dev said hesitantly.

“Yeah, and I must say you did a good job at acting dumb,” I said, not knowing he didn’t even realize I was busy casting a spell.

“Ye-yeah, of course, we saw you were doing something,” Dev said while rubbing the back of his neck.

“Oh, but I am not done with you, Dev,” Kayda said in a warning tone, making even me shiver and remember the glare she gave us a while ago.

“Kayda comes on, be a pal and let it slide,” Dev said while walking backward.

“YOU!!” Kayda yelled, getting even angrier hearing what he said.

“May you rest in peace,” I said, giving him a silent prayer before standing up and grabbing the mage, throwing her over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“HELP!” It was all we heard and ignored while we were busy cleaning up.
