Malon was trying to pull the big bars back and forth, but the bars were tight, and it looked like it had been a prison made for a long time, which was frustrating. The bars wouldn't break, and there was also a deafening silence indicating that there was probably no one else around there. Then he sighed and walked away from the bars, and went to see what was in his cell.
Turning around, he noticed that the space was still much smaller than a bedroom. There was a pile of hay in the corner of the floor to be used as a bed and a dirty corner to be used as a bathroom, the walls were full of cracks, and nothing looked strange there. The cracks didn't look like they would get worse than that.
Still, something caught Malon's attention. There was an older-looking space the size of a human hand in the center of the wall that was slowly starting to age and knocking some crumbs off the wall.
Malon approached doubtfully and placed his hand next to the aged mark, and when he touched it, he saw that the wall seemed weaker compared to the rest of the room. That was too good to be true, though. Besides, what else would he find on the other side aside from another cell?
His eyes widened, and he quickly looked around the room for some object so that he could use it as a shovel, but it was useless. His cell was empty. Malon was naive to a fault… even if it was suspicious, he had to test all his options.
Malon noticed he still had his boots, so he took the boot off and put it in his hand, and started digging with it to protect his fingers.
Shortly after, more and more dust from the wall in the aged area was falling. Even with difficulty, he managed to open a hole the size of his hand in the wall, but nothing else around was aged.
"You have got to be kidding me?" Malon muttered.
"You..." He extended his hand into the hole and heard.
A weak female voice made him startle and recoil, he looked at the hole, but he couldn't see anything beyond it since it was covered in the darkness.
"Are you… Who are you?" Malon asked.
A silence echoed after the question of the swordsman, who remained in the doubt until the voice answered.
"It doesn't matter... I'm here on the other side… approach your hand... I'll give you something..." The female voice echoed weakly.
Even confused and still a little scared, Malon approached again and moved his hand. He couldn't believe that the enemies would put a trap there, and he could sense the smell of blood coming from behind.
"Who are you? How long have you been in prison?" Malon asked while moving his left hand since it wasn't his dominant one.
"It doesn't matter… Use this." The woman said.
Malon felt something land on his hand, and he closed it and took it to his cell. He noticed two round golden earrings in his hands, and he watched for a while, but then he pierced his ears with the earrings and put them on, feeling a bit of pain in the hole.
"And what do I do now?" Malon asked.
Aion truly wanted to strangle Malon… that guy was just too stupid. Even if his family was rich, he still was trained in a martial arts dojo. Didn't his family teach him common sense? How stupid could a single person be?
His words came out, but only a silence followed. Malon showed a confused face and extended his hand towards the wall.
"Miss?"
As soon as his fingers touched the wall, the earrings gleamed, and a large area began to age and fall apart on its own. Malon noticed the wall collapse leaving a space large enough for him to sneak out of his cell.
He widened his eyes and showed a surprised but slightly happy expression. He passed as he spoke.
"It worked... if we can do this with the bars we..." Malon said.
The excited sentence was interrupted, and the expression that had previously had a little happiness disappeared completely when he went to the other cell.
In front of her was a woman with brown hair wearing white clothes already soiled by something. Her legs were chained to the wall, but what Malon soon noticed was an iron sword in her chest.
Her face was down, and her skin was pale. It was impossible to tell how long she had been like that, and seeing that her savior was dead, Malon wondered who had really given her those earrings. It couldn't have been her…
Malon brought his fingers close to his ears and noticed only a trace of blood, but nothing was there. The earrings had disappeared and the biggest doubt was.
"Who set me free?" Malon asked in astonishment.
The time gained was precious. Malon regretfully approached the woman and spoke.
"I'm sorry... but I need to go..." Malon spoke and took the sword from the woman's body, who didn't even react, confirming to Malon, she was dead.
Malon took the sword and went to the front of the cell. With the iron sword, it was easy to break the lock, and after a few attempts, Malon managed to open the door and could move freely around the prison. He didn't make much noise, but it was suspicious that no one heard him.
"Maybe I'm alone, but I can't waste time... where is my stuff... and where is the ring?" Malon thought while looking around.
Malona left the cell and walked around the prison while finding only empty cells and with nothing inside them. Getting close to his previous cell, he saw that on one side were stairs that went up, and the other side seemed to go down somewhere.
"They could have come from there... I'd better go in the opposite direction." Malon thought.
"Good, you are a tactical genius," Aion thought.
Malon was heading towards the stairs that descended at a faster pace, passing through another cell, and before going down the stairs, he saw that it led to a sewer system that led to a tunnel separated by some iron bars.
"Sewers? It might get me out of here somewhere in town… am I still in that town?" Malon wondered.
Malon's thoughts were interrupted and then he heard a voice coming from the side.
"Hey… you're not one of the guards..." Another female voice echoed in the area.
Malon's eyes widened in surprise to hear another voice there. It was also similar to the one he had heard before. Looking at the cell next to him, he saw a young girl looking to have the same age.
"You're not...or are you?" Malon tilted his head in confusion.
She wore white clothes similar to the woman in the cell, in addition to having blonde hair in the same style, her eyes were blue, and she also had nothing but the clothes on her body.
"N-No... I'm not... I was arrested here today." The girl said, and then she widened her eyes and asked."Y-You were talking to someone just now… and it seems to have come from my mother's cell area… they split us up when we were arrested. Didn't you see her there? Please release me and take us with you."
Malon thought for a few moments and connected the dots, the woman in the cell was probably the girl's mother, and because they were in different areas, she didn't know her unfortunate fate. Malon took a deep breath and spoke.
"Listen, I can free you... but in the place I was, I didn't see anyone. I checked every cell on the way and only found you if your mother was also arrested... she's not here anymore." Malon replied.
The girl lowered her head a little and held the bars looking confused and thoughtful, but soon she spoke.
"She must be somewhere... take me with you, and when we run away, I'll look for her myself. I'm a healer. I can help." The girl said.
"Healer?" Malon muttered in shock.
Aion was even more surprised since the girl looked like his ancestor, Clanire. However, the girl was taller than the grandma shrimp, and her attitude was also completely different.
