"Well then… we have two options here," Sauros said. "The first one is to keep searching for answers about this and probably find some type of conspiracy of someone who wants to start a war, or forget about this and do our real job."
"We managed to defeat all of the pirates of the region. No one will be able to start a war for a few years if we take all of the resources here," Seris said. "We need to hurry up and get the relics."
Aion wanted to agree with that, but he didn't have the answers about the situation that he wanted… he also wanted to return home and make sure that no one would have the power to create holes in time and space to summon whatever to that current period of time. That was definitely the thing that they had to focus on right now…
In the end, they decided to focus on the mission, dismantling the whole warehouse. At the same time, they transported everything to the ships. In the end, there were too many things to carry with only four ships, even though the Breeze of the Sea was three times longer than the others. So, Aion had enough materials to make his tier one class reach the highest level of refinement, and now he just had to make them level up.
As for gold, the pirates didn't have much since they would travel around and spend it, but Aion still got fifty gold coins, half of what they had found. Now, they just needed to find the magic tool that was able to keep the whole island hidden. That was the real troublesome thing that they needed to deal with... still, it seemed that things would be a lot simpler than expected.
"Where do you think it is, Aion?" Sauros asked.
"You can create one barrier that makes time flow differently… and you still ask me that?" Aion asked while frowning.
"I actually know, but I just wanted to check if you can guess," Sauros said. "It must be right below us, and I suspect that it is a magic tool that emulates a type of barrier that is similar to the ones in the temples."
"It must be… I suspect… I never heard such words full of confidence," Aion said while frowning. "It is a miracle that your crew hadn't abandoned you yet."
Aion checked the underground of the warehouse with his mana, and he found something there. When he dug into the place with his mana, he found a round shield that had some symbols that made Aion recall runes in it. When Aiojln touched it, he felt the mana around it dissipating, and then the barrier disappeared.
"Finder's keepers," Aion said.
"We don't really need that, but you shouldn't sell it either… perhaps you can use it for your territory," Sauros said.
"Unless I am starting a war or someone declares it against me, I have no intention of using it," Aion said. "It will be hard to make merchants travel around to my domain to get those, after all."
The group stayed for three days on the island to make sure that they didn't miss anything or that enemies were still hidden. During that time, they gave all the chances for the former prisoners them to leave, but they still had a hard time believing that they weren't being fooled.
Aion considered scaring them with his magic to make sure that they would find enough reasons to leave already, but he changed his mind. After recalling that the wolfman could read his movements as if he knew them beforehand, he assumed that it wasn't an excellent option to show it around anymore.
"I managed to defeat him because I surprised him by changing classes and then by using magic in a way that I never did before, but I need to be cautious…" Aion thought.
Another weird thing that happened was the fact that no ship approached while they were in that place… even though there were many ships for a while there. It wasn't like the inhabitants of that island knew about the existence of such a place, but to completely ignore it seemed silly.
"Do you know what kind of material this is?" Aion asked Sauros showing the four pieces of equipment of the wolfman when they left the island behind.
"No… did you find this in the warehouse?" Sauros asked while frowning. "What about you, Seris?"
"I never saw anything like this either… the craftmanship is also pretty different from ordinary magic items," Seris replied. "It feels like this thing is made of several layers of metal that work like scales, and they enhance each other like that…"
Aion didn't notice that before, but there were many spaces in the armor. Those spots were due to the fact of the layered metal scales… that was what Seris called them. They were barely noticeable using the human eye, so it was supposed to be impossible to forge such a magic item that worked like that with mere human hands.
"I can tell that this is pretty strong. Each hit would cause vibrations on the target, and little by little make them explode from inside," Seris explained.
"You can tell that much just by touching it?" Aion asked while frowning.
"Making magic items is my specialty, after all," Seris said. "I am not suited for the battlefield, remember?"
"I can also see that you are the type that holds grudges," Aion said and then shrugged. "I wonder when saying that you are not suited for killing others became such an offensive thing to say."
"... You should have said that directly instead of making it sound like I am incompetent," Seris said, slightly annoyed and confused and trying to hide those feelings.
"It seems you raised her in a very difficult way…" Aion said.
"Now this is about me, huh…" Sauros said and then sighed. "Nevertheless, you should ready yourselves since we have to pick up the slack."
