Ji Yuan finally got his chance when he managed to isolate one of the five desolate armored spiders that were on his tail.
He was cursing furiously earlier when he thought that his reinforcements had come.
He had estimated that sixty cultivators would be able to stand a good chance against the twelve armored spiders in the vicinity as the cultivators outnumbered the desolate armored spiders 5:1.
This was the chance that he thought was reasonable for them to overcome these desolate armored spiders.
This 5:1 was much higher than the 2:1 chance that his Team 10 was facing earlier.
His Team 10 actually had only 28 cultivators; quite a few had died immediately at the start of the ambush and quite a few had used their Escape Talismans.
That was why Ji Yuan had ordered a strategic retreat for the time being because he did not want to risk the lives of his team, especially his beloveds.
But to his astonishment, his reinforcements had actually shouted that they were being outnumbered by the desolate armored spiders and had fled like the winds.
He had clearly underestimated one thing; none of the cultivators had the motivation to be a cannon fodder for the others since they did not know one another nor can they trust the other cultivator to be their strong support.
But still Ji Yuan found himself drawing five of the desolate armored spiders away from them and he was now battling one of the desolate armored spiders.
He had displayed his sword spirits with his divine swords as he turned his body around to attack the desolate armored spiders.
He charged straight into the dozens of illusionary strikes that were being displayed by the desolate armored spider.
Dozens of strikes were exchanged in an instant before Ji Yuan flashed straight into the face of the desolate armored spider.
Using exactly thirty strokes, he had cut through the profound defenses of the desolate armored spider while receiving five deadly wounds at the same time before finally killing the monster.
Ji Yuan coughed out a bout of bad blood as he quickly gathered his profound energies to treat his wounds.
"Big Brother, are you alright?" Xiang Li and Fairy Anyang asked at the same time.
Even Fairy Anyang was calling Ji Yuan her Big Brother out of concern now.
Ji Yuan nodded weakly as he heaved softly, "My two divine swords are too powerful. I didn't really expect to win after only thirty strokes."
Then he examined his golden robe, "And thank goodness for this robe as well."
His golden robe had greatly enhanced his profound defenses. Even though he had received three deadly wounds, the robe had protected him from losing his arms and legs.
At the same time, the ripped robe was quickly weaving by itself and repairing its surface damages, even stopping his bleedings.
He smiled bitterly as he looked at his robe, "Now I've finally known how the rich cultivators can afford to be so arrogant. That is because they can afford it."
Ji Yuan did not hesitate for too long in the same spot.
He was running a guerrilla battle with the four remaining desolate armored spiders.
Finally he got the second one as well; it took him forty strokes while receiving four fatal wounds.
His speed was obviously slowing down.
But Ji Yuan did not slow down in his movements and he was soon engaging the third desolate armored spider; killing it with fifty strokes while receiving five fatal wounds.
He soon killed the fourth desolate armored spider; killing it with sixty strokes while receiving six fatal wounds.
Soon the fifth desolate armored spider was also killed by him but this time it had taken him only twenty strokes because he was now able to fully focus on this one target. At the same time, he did not take any more fatal wounds because he was now able to see the attacks of the desolate armored spiders clearly.
But the entire battle left him covered with his golden blood as he staggered weakly to look for his team.
He was popping healing profound pills and regaining profound pills like candies now.
He was quite anxious for his team because he was sure that there were more of these seventh desolate monsters around.
No wonder this was an S Rank Trial.
All of a sudden he paused in his tracks because his sharp golden eyes could see someone ahead of him.
He walked silently to a clearing and saw an extremely charming maiden in red dress sitting on top of a tree branch and she was laughing softly to herself.
Ji Yuan had naturally recognized her as Yun Chi.
But what caught him by surprise was that there were two carcasses of the desolate armored spiders lying around her and they were ripped apart by sharp blades.
However Yun Chi did not seem to be carrying any sharp divine weapons nor did she have any blood strain on her.
But if she was not the slayer of these two desolate armored spiders then who may it be?
"Who is that?" She was suddenly alarmed and she had stared coldly in the direction where Ji Yuan was hiding.
Ji Yuan laughed softly as he walked into the clearing; he had thought that he was able to conceal his profound aura very well but this Yun Chi was still able to detect him.
Therefore he knew that she must be a super cultivator.
One must know that Ji Yuan was not only able to conceal his profound animus when he was sneaking around but he could also control his heart beat so well that he could virtually walk into a nest of powerful desolate beasts without them ever hearing his heartbeat.
Yun Chi began to smile pleasantly when she saw that it was Ji Yuan, "I wonder who it is. So it is Great Hero Ji Yuan. If you are a little late, I may have been ripped apart by these monsters."
Ji Yuan grinned as he looked at the ripped bodies of the two desolate armored spiders that were in the vicinity, "Maiden Yun Chi really likes to joke with me. You've killed these monsters?"
Yun Chi chuckled jovially, "Not really. These monsters are already heavily injured when I've encountered them. Therefore I merely give them a little push to meet their maker."
Ji Yuan: …
He doesn't believe that she would be so lucky to encounter two heavily injured desolate armored spiders…
Yun Chi gently leapt off from the tree branch, "Look at poor you. You look really seriously injured. Do you need my help to look at your wounds? I'm actually a good healer."
Ji Yuan: …
"No, thanks."
He quickly added, "We need to find the rest of the team. Why are you alone? And where are the rest of them?"
Yun Chi smiled pleasantly, "What if I tell you that I am waiting for you here? Will you believe me?"
Ji Yuan smiled weakly, "Why should you be waiting for me here?"
"Because I think that you are really a handsome cultivator." Yun Chi winked at him.
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Yun Chi giggled softly, "I've thought that you may need some support so I'm waiting here. Are you touched? A weak and vulnerable maiden like me will actually be waiting in the middle of danger for you to come by. Imagine if it isn't you that come by here and instead it is the monsters then I may have joined my maker even before I can get the chance to see you again."
Ji Yuan laughed weakly, "Lucky it is me."
"So you've managed to kill all five of these nasty monsters that were on your back?" Yun Chi smiled pleasantly.
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
How the heck did she know that I was being chased by five of these desolate armored spiders?!
"I know what you're thinking." Yun Chi smiled with affectionate eyes, "I saw it earlier but unfortunately I was too weak to aid you and had to run too. Didn't you ask all of us to run ahead first?"
Then she giggled, "But I've a good heart and I've decided to wait for you here at my own risks. Unfortunately I've almost meet my maker while waiting for you here."
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Her story sounds so convincing and logical but why is that I am not believing her bullshits?
Yun Chi smiled pleasantly at him, "So, do you think that I am more deserving to you than the maidens that are with you?"
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan: …
Ji Yuan rolled his eyes as he laughed bitterly, "Let's go. We shouldn't dwell in this place for too long."
