577 Lou will not hurt me
"Done?" He asked, leaning his side to the door's jamb.
"Oh god..." Lexi patted her chest as she nearly forgotten that she was inside someone else's home. Moreover, she didn't hear Louis Lu's footsteps, hence the slight surprise. "Yes, I am." She answered along with her heavy exhale.
"Let me help you,"
"Thank you." Stretching her lips a little up, Lexi slowly stood and stepped aside. Holding her hands behind her, she watched Louis Lu entered the bedroom and headed directly to the suitcase — placed on top of the bed.
"You should have asked for more suitcase, this one is not enough to pack all her belongings." As Louis Lu carried the suitcase out of the bed, he commented as he cast Lexi a side glance.
"You sound like you don't want to see her permanently, Lou." Lexi frowned as she followed him out of the bedroom. Yet, Louis Lu didn't respond anymore and walked down of the stairs with silence.
When they reached downstairs, Louis Lu put down the suitcase.
"Maybe," Louis Lu replied before he headed to the set of sofas with his hands shoved inside his pocket.
Lexi's gaze followed his figure before it shifted to the empty wineglass and two bottles of wine. By the looks of it, the first one was already consumed while the other one was still unopened.
"Lou," a heavy sigh escaped Lexi's lips as she shook her head. "You guys need to talk it down when you're both calm." Lexi slowly headed to the set of sofas and perched on the long couch.
Glancing at her concerned front, Louis Lu poured himself a glass of wine. "We already did." He flatly responded and then picked up the wineglass. He then leaned his back against the single seater sofa and rested his leg over the other.
"What I mean talk is not just talk, but a conversation with an open heart." Sighing, Lexi slightly frowned at his rather relaxed demeanor.
For a moment, Louis Lu stared at Lexi without a word. After some time of sharing nothing but silence, Louis Lu sipped from his wine bearing his natural elegance.
"I know it's not my business and I am being meddlesome but Lou, don't hurt yourself and have regrets later for not doing things you should have done." Since he wasn't saying anything, Lexi advised once again.
She knew that she was meddling with other people's problems. However, she was truly concerned about these two.
Lexi knew that Ethan Lu held these two close to his heart. Therefore, she was trying to be a good friend and cousin-in-law in her husband's stead.
Moreover, this reminded her of Morris Liu... a lot. Lexi would be lying if she said she has no idea that Morris Liu didn't have feelings for her.
Still, Lexi felt Morris Liu's regrets and pain back in Mr. Tang's birthday event. She just chose not to speak about it further and acted as if she has no clue. Regardless, Lexi knew that while she moved on and was now happily living with the love of her life, Morris Liu lived in contrast.
Perhaps that was one of the reason Lexi tried to avoid the man. She didn't want to show him pity — that's the least he could do for him.
"Things I should have done..." Under his breath, Louis Lu faintly scoffed at the thought. "Did she tell you the reason why she's leaving?" Slowly, his gaze returned to Lexi as an inexplicable glint flashed across his eyes.
Lexi, for a while, pressed her lips together as she shifted her eyes on the wineglass that he put down. "She did." Lexi nodded.
"Did she tell you I scare her?"
"Yes,"
"Did she tell you I want Dylan dead?"
"Yes,"
"Did she also tell you the reason I want him dead?" One after another, Louis Lu threw a series of question, which Lexi answered truthfully. Considering Louis Lu's bluntness, Lexi didn't want to lie even if it was a white lie.
However, his last question made her pause. It was not like she didn't know the answer but, for some reason, she hesitated if telling him the answer was a good decision.
"Lou..." Biting her lower lip, Lexi's eyes softened as she felt bad for the man before her and the woman waiting for her in her car.
"I want him dead because he crossed me." As soon as Lexi muttered his name, Louis Lu indifferently scoffed as he answered his own question. "He touched my woman, violated every part of her body, terrorized her mind — do you think I don't have enough reason to kill him?" Cold and emotionless, Louis Lu justified his action by throwing hurtful facts of how Dylan Lu did to hurt him and Victoria Tang.
Lexi wanted to rebut, yet words were stuck in her throat. How would she respond to him? There were no words that could calm him down, nor she entirely knew what he felt.
She studied him and despite the raging fire within his pair of eyes; it has a touch of pain in it. Therefore, how could Lexi shove that he should also try to understand Victoria Tang's feelings if he too was hurt, gravely?
"And yet, she told me not to hurt him — why?" At this point, his tone turned colder as the surroundings' atmosphere got heavier.
"Lou, you don't underst—" Lexi panicked sensing the change of atmosphere yet, she didn't finish her sentence when Louis Lu's gaze sharpened and stood from his seat.
Instinctively, Lexi also jolted from her seat and took a few steps back while he strode closer to her. "Lou?" Alas, after taking a few step backs, Lexi stopped her tracks as she believed that he wouldn't do anything to her.
'Lou will not hurt me. Lou will not hurt Ethan...' Lexi repeatedly chanted inside her mind.
