513 Dead mea
Several hours later...
Lexi paced back and forth as she anxiously waited for Ethan Lu to arrive. Since Ethan Lu informed her that he would be going home today, even though Lexi was worried, she couldn't even tell if the plane that he would ride would crash or not.
Therefore, Lexi could only pray tirelessly for his safety. Also, she wanted to see him safe and sound. Still, waiting for only several hours felt forever.
"Madam, Master's flight had arrived. You should sit first." Jarred Guo said. He had been watching Lexi walked back and forth, sometimes, looked at the arrival area from time to time.?Hence, he could not bear to watch her any longer as Ethan Lu's landed safely. Moreover, he was already dizzy watching Lexi.
"Thank God," Lexi heaved a sigh of relief upon the news that the plane where her husband boarded landed safely. Even after hearing that her husband wasn't on board in the plane crash yesterday, she got paranoid about his safety.
Imagine, she nearly lost her husband! She almost became a widow and her twins nearly lost their father. Thus, how could she sleep last night after having that fear creeping out from her heart?
Could anyone blame her? Not to mention, the whole Lu Corporation was in chaos after the news, and Lexi had to go to the main residence to reassure Grandpa Lu.
Overall, it was an unpleasant experience. Still, one way or another, Lexi's maturity blossomed because of that fear. It reminded her of her childishness.
If Ethan Lu died yesterday, she would regret their last argument that she caused. If he died last night, Lexi would have left with many regrets for not spending more time with him, and for not expressing how much she love him.
There would be a never-ending 'I should have'. Hence, Lexi wanted to prioritize her family — making them feel her love every second of every day.
Because life was unpredictable, and last night was a true eye-opener for her to realize that.
Soon, from the corner of her eyes, Lexi caught Ethan Lu's figure dragging his luggage. She turned and confirmed that it was truly him.
Relief, pure bliss, and yearning enveloped her heart in a snap. "Ethan..." she whispered along with a sigh of relief.
Yet, her eyes stung, causing tears to build up from the side of her eyes as a lump was stuck on her throat. She watched him drew closer and closer to him as her tears blur her vision.
'Thank God...' She thanked internally. Lexi wasn't a religious person but, since last night, she got to know how to sincerely pray for her family's safety and thanked the Absolute One for all the underrated miracles she never noticed.
The every day miracle of being able to wake up, be with her loved ones, and end the day with them. She had never appreciated it more than she appreciates it now.
"Jeez, why are you crying?" Ethan Lu stopped two steps away from her, his lips stretched from ear to ear, and his heart warmed up.
Their reunion was as if they were away for a long time. Though technically, based on Churu's not so 'fun' fact, they were away for four years as the world was on a pause for that long.
Churu never told him the exact reasons but, it wasn't important because four years was nothing if he could still see his wife and watch the twins grow into great individuals.
"I'm so glad..." In between her hiccups and sniffing, Lexi wiped her tears that were akin to waterfalls. She didn't care if her makeup would smudge on her face as she could not stop her tears.
Ethan's eyes softened. His wife was crying like a little girl again but, it was undoubtedly tears of joy. "Come here," Slowly, Ethan Lu raised his arm and reached his hand to her shoulder.
"I'm sorry for worrying you." Ethan Lu gently pulled her into his embrace, and without wasting a second, he wrapped his arms around her while kissing, and sniffing the scent of the top of her head.
"I'm so happy you're safe," Feeling this familiar warmth of him, Lexi buried her face on his chest as she cried. Her hand clenched on his shirt, creasing it. Her emotion from last night just exploded and now, they were all over the place.
"I missed you..." Lexi whispered though she could barely speak.
"Me too, and I'm glad to have another day to be with you." Ethan Lu hummed a tune as he rubbed her back. Glancing up, Churu was doing her own thing while shaking her booty and giving him thumbs up — as if telling him good job.
'Thank you,' Ethan Lu internally said again which Churu loudly heard. To him, he owed this little mischievous dumpling because if not for her, Lexi would have to take the path that Churu showed him yesterday.
He wouldn't let that happen. He would fight for his life even if it meant being extra ruthless than he already was.
"Love," Slowly, Ethan Lu held Lexi by her shoulders and he slowly pulled himself away from her.
Seeing that she still has tears and smudge mascara under her eyes, he chuckled as he wiped her tears. "I don't know if I can tell you that you don't have to worry but, I promise I won't die anytime sooner." Ethan Lu reassured with a meek yet confident smile on his lips.
"I won't leave you and the twins. Didn't I tell you, you're stuck with me forever? Same goes with me, I am stuck with you forever and I won't die without your permission." Lexi watched him utter his statements with unbending conviction.
She nodded as he let him wiped every tears and smudged mascara away. Somehow, his words were akin to a spell that calmed her heart. Most importantly, he's with her now.
"You have to stick with your promise or you're dead meat." Biting her lower lip, Lexi weakly warned out of habit which made Ethan smiled.
"Huh? Isn't that what they call double dead? If you didn't keep your promise, that means you died and because you died, she'll kill you the second time? Wuuut?!" Upon hearing Lexi's sentence, Churu who was floating on the side rubbed her chin as she pondered on the situation.
