Along with the screeching sound, the iron broadsword was heaved up in the air. As the smoke and dust rose slightly, the rack for the broadsword broke into many sections.

Few people in the world could lift this broadsword; most of them could barely grab it fully. One could easily imagine just how big the hand covered with scars was.

“You guard here. I’ll be back soon.”

The deep and hoarse voice rang out again in the small temple and echoed in White Town and the sky.

The Young Zen Master took a glance at the small temple, his eyes full of bewilderment, wondering if his injury was fully healed and how he could possibly travel such a long distance.

The blood red cliff had suddenly collapsed. An exceedingly powerful force pushed upwards against the bottom of the small temple from the underground.

Boom!!!

The small temple was leveled to the ground. The strong wind whistled as a large figure leapt up into the sky, crushing hundreds of boulders into pieces in its wake. The figure became a dark speck instantly and disappeared after entering the Empty Realm.

...

...

The wind also kicked up by the East Ocean.

The Chief Master of the Script Instruction Hall and the nameless nun of the Water-Moon Nunnery were still sitting among the wild grass. The wrinkles on their faces grew deeper and the ice and frost on their bodies grew thicker, as if they were two frosty men.

The amulet paper slips on the cliff walls were tossing slightly in the wind, and the carved scripts were made shallower.

The blue sea water kept on tumbling up and down. The color of the water grew increasingly darker, as if it would become the ink. It was unclear if it was caused by the mud and sand coming up from the bottom of the ocean or by the demonic magic.

The highly achieved practitioners of the Fruit Formation Temple and the Water-Moon Nunnery sat cross-legged around the cliff in an effort to resist the extremely cold intent and to stabilize the formations around the Heavenly Well in the meantime; but it was almost impossible for them to do so.

The thin ice floating on the surface of the ocean looked like broken pieces of paper on a pond of ink.

Whoosh!!!

The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect leapt up from the ocean. The water on his body dried immediately after being blown by the sea wind, his sparse hair fluttering in the wind again.

He had broken through most of the thirty-three barriers in the Heavenly Well. However, his energy had nearly been exhausted even though he was a grandmaster of the deviant sect in a very high Cultivation state, so he needed time to recuperate.

Without bothering to look at the practitioners of the Fruit Formation Temple and the Water-Moon Nunnery, the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect squinted in the direction of Green Mountain, wondering how the Immortal Taiping was doing over there.

Suddenly, he sensed something and lifted up his head to look at the sky.

It was blue throughout in the sky, and nothing seemed different, yet countenance changed abruptly. “How did he become so powerful so soon?!” he murmured to himself in disbelief.

It was then that a gust of wind could be heard inside the dark and gloomy Heavenly Well. In the next moment, the sunlight suddenly changed a bit. A band of light smoke came out and landed in the cliff, right underneath a script.

The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect looked at the spot under the cliff and found that the person had a pair of tender and thin eyebrows. “I can’t believe you’re still alive!” the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect exclaimed in surprise after figuring out his identity.

The person was Tong Yan, who had just escaped from the Underworld by means of the Seal of Thousand Miles. His face was pale and his look was murky; it was evident that he had sustained severe injury.

“If you hadn’t almost broken through the Heavenly Well, it would have been hard for me to come back,” he said to the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect.

“Hey, little guy, do you really think you can change the situation by coming back?” demanded the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect, laughing.

“This junior practitioner has a very low Cultivation state, so I can’t do it. But somebody can, like the one who has just flown past the sky.”

Having said that, Tong Yan patted the cliff wall with his hand. It seemed as if he felt a sense of luck and pleasure. It happened that his hand had touched the last word of the script spot on.

The red word was carved deeply into the cliff wall and had become shallower earlier. With the efforts of the practitioners of the Fruit Formation Temple and the Water-Moon Nunnery, its color grew brighter now.

The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect didn’t pay attention to such detail; it was because he was preoccupied with the shocking feeling. “Is it actually true?” he mumbled to himself.

“Like I said to the Underworld Master, the Immortal Taiping and you people have underestimated a person. I was referring to him.”

Tong Yan continued while patting the cliff wall, “Looks like what I said is not very accurate...In fact, you people have underestimated many people...including me.”

No sooner had he finished talking than he smashed the cliff wall with his palm and grabbed the red word from the rubble with his hand.

With a changed look, the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect waved his hand to send out an extremely gloomy demonic fireball at Tong Yan.

Tong Yan swept his palm toward the wild grass beside him, ignoring the incoming fireball.

The old nun of the Water-Moon Nunnery who was dismantling the formations in the Heavenly Well was in this patch of the wild grass.

Did he know where to land the instant he escaped from the Heavenly Well?

Pah!!!

Tong Yan smashed the ice atop the head of the old nun with his right hand and instilled the word into her head.

The old nun of the Water-Moon Nunnery suddenly opened her eyes and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, her eyes full of bewilderment and despair.

Soon after, a large amount of blood gushed out from her body.

But the blood couldn’t splash out into the air because of the ice cube around her body, turning the ice cube red.

In fact, her body had already been torn to shreds.

The word Tong Yan took down from the scrip on the cliff wall was “dissect”.

Yet, he didn’t have the chance to witness such an eerie and bloody scene himself. Tong Yan glided to the other side of the cliff as he disappeared from the original spot.

The demonic fireball mixed with cold intent, and an enormously high temperature arrived from the seashore with a booming noise, heading toward Tong Yan after breaking every wild grass frozen with the frost and ice in its path.

The Escape Method of the Center Sect was indeed formidable. At such a critical moment, Tong Yan disappeared in the air again, landing in the wild grass on the other side of the cliff by the time he reappeared.

The Chief Master of the Script Instruction Hall of the Fruit Formation Temple was in this patch of the wild grass, his aged face and skinny body fully covered in thick ice.

Tong Yan had a very high talent in Cultivation to begin with, and he had stayed behind closed doors over the years in the hermit peaks of Green Mountain, so he had reached a very high state. However, it was still a difficult task to kill this old monk in such a short time.

It was then that the dreadful demonic fireball had arrived before the cliff. It looked like the dark night had swallowed everything around it.

Tong Yan stood in front of the Chief Master of the Script Instruction Hall and had no intention of dodging the assault. Looking at the demonic fireball and the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect and raising his thin brows, he laughed out suddenly.

...

...

The scheme plotted by the Immortal Taiping seemed simple enough, but it was not the case. It couldn’t be depicted even by those phrases like “shocking the world” and “unparalleled in history”.

Yet, this scheme was not very complicated. It didn’t have thousands of accomplices lurching along a line of a thousand miles undetected; it seemed to be plain and rudimentary, said to be “old style” in Jing Jiu’s words.

However, the scale of the scheme was truly grand.

There were many grand-scale schemes written in the history books and told in stories; none of them could be compared to this one.

The essence of this scheme was to make use of the natural force to turn heaven and earth into a real stove in order to achieve the goal of destroying the world.

The Thousand-Mile Wind Corridor was the wind-pipe.

The Heavenly Well was the chimney.

The Underworld River was the fire.

And the Huge Whirlpool was the bottom of the stove, from which the endless sea water poured into the Underworld to become the infinite firewood.

It was hard to say which part was more important than the others.

Regardless, the saying “Taking the firewood from the bottom of the stove” was applicable in this case.

The simplest way to stop the destruction of the world was to take away the firewood from the bottom of the stove, or at least to prevent the firewood from adding to the stove.

As such, the Huge Whirlpool was the key to destroying the world.

Hundreds of demons fell into the Huge Whirlpool one after the other in agony, dropping along the waterfalls after breaking through the seawater that was like a glass wall as they were sliced into countless strips of bloody pulp by the formation.

The misty blood of the demons, containing a great deal of brutal energy, dyed the thunderous falling sea water red and made the Heavenly Slaying Formation stronger.

More demons were swimming over from the deep parts of the ocean, innumerable white lines visible on the surface of the ocean.

A great many dark clouds appeared in the sky, and a heavy rainfall took place. The demons exuded a dreadful energy that was perceived by heaven and earth. The lives in the ocean were extremely terrified, but they couldn’t escape the lethal energy and died as a result.

The dead fish could be found everywhere in the ocean. If one came to the bottom of the ocean at that moment, they would be able to see a forest formed by the corpses of the sea animals.

The Dark Phoenix was flying in the rain while flapping his wings slowly; the bolts of lightning kept striking down around him. He looked at the scenes on the ocean cruelly and confidently, his eyes devoid of any other emotion.

Not to mention that the swordsmen of Chaotian had no way to come here, let alone be an actual match for the Dark Phoenix even if they could.

He was the Principal Guard of Green Mountain, a being in the Heavenly Arrival State, and was the main operator of the Heavenly Slaying Formation that day. Even the immortals Tan and Bai couldn’t make a difference right now.

The downpour suddenly stopped.

The thunder ceased.

The Dark Phoenix lifted his head up to look at the sky uneasily.

Boom!!!

A hole appeared in the sky.

To put it more precisely, the invisible barrier between the Empty Realm and the Chaotic Wind had been broken, and it couldn’t be fixed in a short time.

If such a barrier could be broken through, the dark clouds were nothing in comparison.

A ray of sunlight streamed down through the dark clouds from the high sky and came to the surface of the ocean.

A huge figure was inside the ray of sunlight, countless electrical bolts encircling his body.

The sunlight and the huge figure lowered to the surface of the ocean until they were inside the Huge Whirlpool.

The demons let out dreadful cries as they were leaping to their deaths after breaking through the waterfalls and dropping into the whirlpool. They looked fearful and in pain, yet also expectant and relieved.

The dark clouds dispersed at high speed. The sunlight illuminated the surface of the ocean and the Huge Whirlpool again.

The huge figure turned out to be...a Buddha statue!

The Buddha statue looked terrible under the sunlight, its paint peeled off. He had his eyes shut, as if he had experienced all the sufferings in the world and couldn’t bear witnessing any more.

The Heavenly Slaying Formation gave a vigorous reaction. A great many bloody and powerful energies, coming over from all directions of heaven and earth, headed toward the Buddha statue.

The Buddha statue opened his peaceful and benevolent eyes.

Seeing the dead in the ocean and sensing the evil and powerful Heavenly Slaying Formation, he raised the iron broadsword in his hand, the expression in his eyes turning cold and formidable.

The Buddha raised the broadsword.

He became a Saint at the moment.
