As his son didn’t object to that and seemed especially happy, there was not much that Ye Rongchen could do.
Yan Shuyu might be slow but she wasn’t stupid. She finally realized that all the righteous reasons that the boss had thrown out was simply for him to his own son as an excuse so he could barge in himself. He was, after all, the devil who almost drove the male lead insane.
She, however, did not object to that. In fact, she was happy about it. The boss has always been a difficult one to read and she always had to speculate boldly and come to her own conclusion that he was jealous. Truth was, Yan Shuyu wasn’t all that confident about it. She finally was able to have some real evidence this time. The only reason that the boss had done so much was, in the end of the day, him worrying that she and Yuanbao’s father would be get together if they spent too much time together with each other!
Yan Shuyu knew that they would never get back together. Not in this life time. But that did not stop her from feeling gleeful – Hah, even the prideful boss was no exception~
Nevertheless, Yan Shuyu was way less happy after a few of her cozy days after, one night, when she got up to go to the bathroom, she saw the boss who should be sleeping in bed next to her was working in the side living room.
Came to think about it, that would only make sense. The boss was one who had lots to take care of. If he was goofing off in the day time, he would need to take care of his work at some other time. That made Yan Shuyu regret deeply. She had been wondering why the boss hadn’t been looking his best as of late. In fact, there had been dark circles under his eyes. She had assumed that they were from him being jealous. But it was because he had been pulling all-nighters!
As a woman who was all about the looks, pulling all-nighters was bad for the boss’s health but it also made her heart ached.
Yan Shuyu couldn’t just sit by and watch the boss, whose skin was better than even hers, do that to himself. She tried to drag him back to bed right away but he wouldn’t budge. “I have a few documents that they need first thing in the morning. Why don’t you go back to bed yourself?”
Yan Shuyu knew that the boss’s time could worth upward of millions so she didn’t dare to force him back to bed. It could have dire consequences. After some hesitation, she said, “Why don’t you go back to work tomorrow instead of hanging out with us?”
“No need,” was all the boss said to her. His concisely clearly conveyed his determination. Then he turned his attention back to his work. Yan Shuyu stopped trying to talk him out of it. Partly because his decision had been made and partly she also worried that the more she said wouldn’t make any difference other than causing him to stay up even longer.
Aye, it was all her fault for being so dang attractive. Yan Shuyu returned to her bed after some more struggling.
With all those that had happened, she wasn’t able to fall back asleep either. She started pondering about how to change the boss’s mind.
She was acutely aware that the boss’s jealousy was a testimony that he wasn’t getting the sense of security from her. He worried that she would turn around and make up with Yuanbao’s father. Ye Rongchen had never said it out loud, but he looked at her lovingly all the time and surely looked like he was ready to sweep her off her feet at any given moment. She would need to have a heart-to-heart conversation with Ye Rongchen and let him know that under no uncertain terms would the two of them get back together. That would be the only way to assure the boss.
The problem was, Ye Rongchen had never expressed his desire to get back together with her. As such, how was she going to turn him down?
