Chapter 169

The woman was startled by the three strangers, and the wooden bucket she was carrying fell to the ground with a crash.

What followed was her angry questioning.

"Who are you? How dare you break into my yard?"

He Zhiran answered calmly, "We are looking for Village Chief Cui."

Hearing that they were looking for Village Chief Cui, the woman looked them up and down disdainfully.

"My father-in-law is not someone anyone can see whenever they want."

As she spoke, her eyes inadvertently glanced toward the gate.

"My gate was closed. How did you get in?

Don't tell me you thieves jumped in over the wall."

Then the woman started shouting, "Come quickly, thieves have broken into the yard!"

Mo Jiuye and Mo Chuhan stood with their arms crossed, watching the woman screaming there without trying to stop her.

That was exactly what they wanted her to do, to shout and call Cui out.

Not long after, several doors in the front yard opened one after another, and several men and women came out,

including the man who had just gone to open the door.

Seeing the three people, the man was clearly very angry.

"You are very bold, daring to break into a private house. Do you believe I will take you to see the magistrate right now?"

Mo Jiuye sneered coldly, "See the magistrate? Go see Deputy Magistrate Cui?"

Hearing this, the man paused for a moment, then said, "How dare you insult Deputy Magistrate Cui."

He Zhiran knew that the Mo brothers were not very good with words, so she took the initiative to step forward.

"Deputy Magistrate Cui dares to openly take bribes and wrongly enforce the law. Such an official can hardly last long. I advise you to be kind, lest you become unnecessarily implicated."

Seeing that the speaker was a young and beautiful woman, the man did not take her seriously at all.

"Shut up. Deputy Magistrate Cui is incorrupt. How dare you spout nonsense here?"

A young man who looked seven or eight parts similar to the man was now walking over to them, holding a hoe.

"This is Cui Family territory. Get the hell out of here immediately, or don't blame me for not being polite."

As he spoke, the young man had already raised the hoe, about to smash it down on He Zhiran, who was standing at the front.

He Zhiran was already prepared to fight back. But just as she pulled back her stance, she was hugged at the waist by Mo Jiuye behind her and pulled aside.

Mo Chuhan then lifted his foot and kicked the man's hoe out dozens of meters away, plunging deeply into the ground.

Next, he strode forward a few steps and stomped down with one foot on the water bucket the woman had dropped on the ground.

The bucket instantly shattered into pieces...

The swaggering Cui family members were frightened by Mo Chuhan’s skill.

Especially the one who wanted to hit people with the hoe, still maintaining the posture when the hoe was snatched away, at a loss as to what to do, standing in place.

In fact, Mo Chuhan had deliberately restrained himself when he made his move, after all, they had just arrived and their identities were special, and he didn’t want to make things too extreme.

If not for that, the two men present would have gone to see King Yama.

His actions did serve to deter them. The man immediately instructed a thirteen or fourteen-year-old boy behind him:

"Wenqiang, go quickly and call over your grandfather and uncle."

Cui Wenqiang didn’t bother to answer, turned around and ran into the backyard.

Mo Chuhan stood in the middle of the yard, Mo Jiuye and He Zhiran behind him, with no visible joy or anger on their faces.

After about the time it takes to burn an incense stick, an old man who looked to be in his sixties or seventies was escorted over by a group of men, women and children.

Village Chief Cui first looked at the shattered wooden bucket in the yard, then at the hoe plunged nearly a foot deep into the ground.

"Minglin, Mingshen, what exactly happened?"

Seeing Village Chief Cui come over, Cui Minglin and Cui Mingshen were like seeing a backbone.

The two came to stand in front of Village Chief Cui, one on each side.

“Father, these are the exiled people who were just sent by the government to register as residents of Xi Ling Village. My son told them that you were unwell today and would help arrange housing for them tomorrow.

But these reckless people actually dared to climb over the wall and break into our home and damage our property."

As Cui Minglin spoke, his eyes glared sinisterly at the Mo trio.

It was as if he was saying: The village chief of Xi Ling Village is here now. Offending the village chief, don’t expect to have good days hereafter.

But the Mo brothers and He Zhiran completely ignored Cui Minglin's gaze.

Mo Chuhan said coldly: “I just want to ask Village Chief Cui if housing can be arranged for us today?”

Unlike his two foolish sons, Village Chief Cui at least knew how to read faces and measure people.

Just looking at Mo Chuhan once, he could determine that this person was not easy to provoke.

His not very big bean eyes turned around as he secretly cursed that his nephew had sent him a hot potato.

Village Chief Cui's small face turned green, not knowing what to say.

He coughed violently a few times and said, pointing at Mo Chuhan:

"It’s true that housing should have been arranged for you today, but those houses at the foot of the mountain have fallen into disrepair over the years and are currently uninhabitable. Why not repair them tomorrow and move in after that?”

“Then we'll have to trouble the Village Chief here tonight."

Mo Chuhan said as he was about to walk towards the house directly opposite the gate.

It was Mo Jiuye's first time seeing Brother Eight being so shameless too, but it was exactly to his liking.

He pulled He Zhiran with him to follow Mo Chuhan, intending to enter the house right in front of the Cui family.

Seeing this, Cui Mingshen hurriedly blocked their path.

"What are you doing?"

Mo Chuhan didn’t seem to use much force at all. With just a slight wave of his arm, he pushed Cui Mingshen aside.

"Of course we’re staying overnight."

After a pause, he turned his head toward the gate and said,

"Right, there are so many more family members outside. I'll go let them in now."

As Mo Chuhan headed for the gate, Village Chief Cui could stand it no longer.

"Stop right there!"

Mo Chuhan halted in his tracks and looked at Village Chief Cui with a half-smile.

"What, is the Village Chief going to clear up a few rooms for us?"

"You..."

Village Chief Cui was so angry that his old face turned blue, not knowing what to say.

He coughed violently a few times and said, pointing at Mo Chuhan, "This is my Cui family’s territory. How dare you strangers come here and stir up trouble?"

Seeing Mo Chuhan messing with the Cui family there, Mo Jiuye and He Zhiran were already laughing inside.

Now seeing that Village Chief Cui could no longer restrain himself, they knew the real show was about to start.

Since Mo Chuhan had put on such a good performance, they couldn’t lose face for the Mo family either.

So the two of them came to stand beside Mo Chuhan. Mo Jiuye said coldly: "Since the Village Chief is unwilling to accommodate us, arrange our housing immediately. Otherwise..."

Don't blame us for moving the whole family in to stay overnight.

Seeing that everyone of the newcomers was so arrogant, Village Chief Cui suddenly felt a little unsure of himself.
