Chapter 76 - This Child Is Left All Alone
They heard from the police that the Qin couple was rushed to the hospital after the loan sharks attacked them, but they were not sure of the insider news.
One of the people standing outside the house was Li Huang's mother.
Grandfather Fu and Fu Hua knew they needed to give room for Jia Li to talk a little with her neighbors, and also to break the news of her parent's death, so they gave her room.
Grandfather Fu let the Butler, escort her with two policemen standing close to them for protection.
Jia Li knew she had to talk to these people, even though she was not in the mood, so she decided to talk to them for a while, but she kept the conversation short.
The neighbors who had been worried sick and curious to know what happened to Jia Li's parents since most of them were aware that they were attacked by the loan sharks, started asking questions.
Grandfather Fu and Fu Hua watched from the car as Jia Li talked to them.
A little sadness could be seen on her face. Although she was grieved, her heart was filled with hate for those that brought the downfall of her family.
She suddenly wanted revenge!
"Will she be alright?" Grandfather Fu asked worriedly as they left Jia Li to face the questions from those people.
"It would be good if she cries, then she will feel better." Fu Hua said with his gaze on Jia Li, then the old man nodded in understanding.
"Jia Li, what happened? I heard from someone that your parents were attacked, so I had to rush down, but on getting here, I learned they were rushed to the hospital yesterday, how are they doing?" Li Huang's mother asked.
Jia Li lowered her gaze and forced the bitter feelings back, and then she raised her head to look at the people that surrounded her.
There was a momentary silence as nobody said a word. But with Jia Li's countenance and her actions, they could sense something wrong with the atmosphere.
Jia Li wanted to reply, but she found out that she was tongue-tied.
When Butler Lu saw this, he decided to speak for her.
The people that were gathered, were shocked by the revelation.
'Mr. Qin and his wife died?'
'Jia Li's parents are dead?'
'So, this child is left all alone?'
Jia Li did not stay long and was about to leave when Li Huang's mother caught her arm.
"Jia Li, are you okay?"
"Aunty, I'm fine!" Jia Li replied as she slowly shrugged her arms as gently as possible so she wouldn't seem rude.
"Are you staying with a relative? If you don't have any place to stay, come and stay over at my place." Li Huang's mother suggested.
As Jia bowed a little to her and was about to leave, she was surrendered by the neighbors again.
They were asking different questions for clarity, so Butler Lu stepped in and optioned to explain everything to them.
Jia Li walked back to the car with her servant following after her.
Butler Lu went ahead to brief the neighbors about the incident. They were all shocked when they learned the true story.
It turned out that the loan sharks got the wrong address.
The person they were looking for was Jia Li's uncle who used their address.
Jia Li's uncle borrowed money from the loan sharks and couldn't pay it back after the time expired.
The loan sharks went to the address he gave to them before borrowing the money, hence, the unfortunate incident that happened to Jia Li's parents.
Jia Li's parents died, and her uncle has been arrested, including the loan sharks involved in the incident.
The neighbors pitied Jia Li about her losing her parents in an unfortunate manner.
Those that were around and let the loan sharks attack without coming out, felt guilty.
But in that kind of situation, nobody would want to risk his or her life, as it was human instinct to want to stay out of danger.
The neighbors have lived in that neighborhood with Jia Li's parents and knew she didn't have any other family.
How would she handle the Funeral and some other things by herself?
Now Jia Li was alone, and she hasn't finished school, how would she continue to survive in such a cruel world?
The neighbors knew it was inappropriate for them to ask Butler Lu such questions, so they held in their thoughts.
Most of them were aware that Jia Li was being helped by some people, and they were curious to know about the identity of the people.
When Grandfather Fu came to stay with the Qin family for a short while, he was always indoors. And the two people that saw him at that time, couldn't even recognize him now.
Butler Lu walked to the car when he was done with his job, and the three cars left back to the Villa.
When Mrs. Li got back to her house, she immediately phoned Li Huang to break the news to him.
Li Huang was shocked by the news. He started asking questions frantically to understand the situation.
His mother didn't hide anything from him and told him everything Butler Lu had told them.
"Where is Jia Li now, is she okay?" Li Huang asked worriedly.
"Jia Li is fine. She was lucky she wasn't present at the time the loan sharks came to attack her parents." Mrs. Li said with a tinge of pity for Jia Li.
"Mum, did you see Jia Li, today, is she okay? Who is looking after her?" Li Huang asked breathlessly.
"Jia Li is quite a strong child. She didn't even cry. She should be alright, even though she looks pitiful. She has lost a lot of weight. But you don't have to worry too much about her, as she has some people looking after her." Mrs. Li said.
"Who are they? Mum, do you know their identity?" Li Huang asked.
"I don't know anything about them, but all I know is that they are not to be trifled with." Mrs. Li replied after receiving the scene in front of Jia Li's house.
The police have been guarding the house since the incident occurred, and Mrs. Li saw the flashy cars that were parked outside the house.
"Mum, what about Jia Li's uncle and his family? Now that he is locked up in prison, what about his wife?." Li Huang asked.
"I have no idea about that. I don't think Jia Li's Aunty knows about this, otherwise, she would have come to plead with Jia Li." Mrs. Li said.
"What is there to plead about? Mum, I'm worried about Jia Li, please tell me if anything comes up." Li Huang said to his mother.
"Alright. But don't forget to call Jia Li, you know she is all alone now." Mrs. Li reminded him.
"I know, I will call her later. I'm in the office right now, and my Boss is already calling for me." Li Huang explained.
"Okay, bye." Mrs. Li said as she ended the call.
Back at the Villa, Jia Li's phone rang. Fu Hua has been the one with Jia Li's phone, so he took out the phone from his pocket to check the caller ID.
"Miss Qin, your phone is ringing." Fu Hua said as she handed the phone to her.
Jia Li was currently sitting in the living room. When she wanted to go back to her bedroom when they arrived, Grandfather Fu did not allow her.
He was scared about her being alone, so he asked her to sit in the living room for a bit.
Jia Li did not recognize her ringing tone when he heard it, because she was lost in thought. She had even forgotten that she had a phone.
Jia Li took the phone from Fu Hua and answered the call without checking the caller ID.
"Jia Li, are you okay? I heard what happened to your parents." The young female voice said.
Jia Li found the voice familiar, but we couldn't remember who the person was, so she glanced at the caller ID before putting the phone back to her ear.
And when she did that, she heard the other person say, 'Hello Jia Li, are you there?!'
The person asked as there was silence at the other end.
"DanDan, I'm fine." Jia Li said in a low tone.
Fu Hua saw it was alright to leave her, so he walked away.
He knew who was calling because that ID had called Jia Li's line when he was busy at the station.
When he found out she was Jia Li's close friend and she wanted to reach Jia Li, he let her in on the news as briefly as possible.
"I'm sorry Miss, but you can't speak with Miss Qin now, because she is grieving. She just lost both of her parents. You can call her later."
Fu Hua was truly emotionless as he ended the call right after that.
