Chapter 101 - There Has To Be A Wedding!
When Jia Li and Fu Hua arrived, they could feel the celebratory atmosphere.
They walked into the house, and they could already see the new decorations in the house. Also, the servants that were close by, bowed as they congratulated them.
Jia Li was a bit surprised, but Fu Hua remained unfazed. Just then, Grandfather Fu walked out of the sitting room with some of the family members.
Grandfather Fu and the others who saw the previous dress Jia Li wore before leaving the house, were surprised to see her new looks and a new outfit.
They didn't say anything, for they knew it was Fu Hua's arrangement.
"You two are back? Let me see the marriage certificate." Grandfather said with a smile.
If other people were not with him, Fu Hua wanted to ask, 'You don't believe me?' but he refrained from doing so, so he turned to Jia Li to say...
"Give the marriage certificates to grandfather."
Jia Li quickly opened her bag and took the marriage certificates out, and then and passed it to the old man who took them from her happily.
Grandfather Fu was all smiles after he confirmed they both were truly married. He handed the marriage certificate to Butler Lu who was standing at the side, as he said to them, "I will keep it for you both."
Fu Hua scoffed inwardly, for he knew the old man was afraid they would get a divorce, so he decided to keep their marriage for fear of them actually getting a divorce.
Jia Li was more than surprised. 'What's going on here? Shouldn't the couple be the one to keep the marriage certificate?'
Thinking that it may be a tradition of the Fu Family, she dropped the thoughts.
"You two can come inside, let's go and celebrate the newly married couple." Grandfather Fu announced, and there were cheers.
Fu Hee was too angry to come out with them, so she remained at the huge dining room that was rarely used in the house.
The biggest dining room in the house was so the other extended Fu family members could join them at the table if there were any occasions such as this.
Everyone made their way from the entrance and straight to the big dining room.
Jia Li walked beside Fu Hua towards the dining table. Grandfather Fu who was sitting at the head table, gestured to Jia Li to come and sit at his right-hand side, and so Fu Hua had to follow as well.
Since they were married they had to sit beside each other.
Grandfather Fu led everyone to toast to them and to give them their blessings. Because of being overjoyed, Grandfather Fu gave red packets to everyone, and he tripled the salary of the servants for the month.
The servants were already earning a good sum of money every month because they were working in a big family such as the Fu's, and also because the old man liked to reward hard work a lot. And now that he tripled their salary for September, they were more than excited and grateful.
When it was time to toast them, Fu Hee didn't want to participate, but coincidentally, her eyes met with Grandfather Fu's scary glance, so she had no choice but to raise her glass.
Today had been the most frustrating day of her life. She had to watch her son get married to some ordinary girl from a small family. As if that wasn't enough, Mrs. Bai has been calling her all day, and be sure she wasn't ready to give her a reply, she turned off her phone. And added to the fact that the other Fu Family members that just visited kept asking her the reason Fu ChunHua was playing her role.
Fu Hee was already exhausted mentally and had to lie to them by saying she wasn't feeling well, and so asked Fu ChunHua to take her place for the time being.
How could she tell them her position had been taken away from her because she hit her now daughter-in-law? That would be a big embarrassment. She didn't want to face any shame.
All her life as the mistress of the Fu Family, she has been well respected and had never been shamed simply because of the authority and power she had because of that position.
Thinking more about this, Fu Hee felt her head and heartache. She was almost tempted to ask to be excused because she wasn't feeling well.
When she thinks about how she would explain things to the Bai family, she could feel her head shaking. She wished she could disappear from the earth after causing big trouble and losing her position.
'All this is because of that girl!' Fu Hee thought as she glanced towards Jia Li, but Fu Hua blocked her view, so her glare couldn't pass through.
Well, it's not like Fu Hua did that on purpose, he had just adjusted his position, so it was not his fault.
As they were eating, one of the members of the extended Fu Family asked, "Uncle, when will you host a big wedding for Fu Hua and Jia Li, signing their marriage certificates is not enough. As the Fu Family, we have to be grand in style, after all, this is the marriage you had high hopes for."
When the others heard this, they also supported what the woman said. She was the daughter of Grandfather Fu's deceased elder brother.
Fu Hee was really tempted to shut their mouths! She was already planning to see if there was a way to get Fu Hua and Jia Li to divorce as soon as possible, so she could work out her plans, so them keeping a low profile about the marriage would be the best way for her.
But seriously, Fu Hee was thinking too much. because she didn't follow them out to welcome Fu Hua and Jia Li earlier, so she was still unaware that Grandfather Fu was the one with their marriage certificate.
With most of them in agreement with what the woman said, Grandfather Fu smiled as he raised his hand, and immediately, there was silence.
"Of course, there has to be a wedding, but that will come later. Jia Li is about to conclude with her schooling."
After saying this, Grandfather Fu raised a toast.
Jia Li glanced at Fu Hua, who was silent and was busy eating his food. It was as if he didn't hear what the old man had said.
