The Hero Turned Into A Potato And The World Fell To Ruin
Chapter 38: Exquisite Art Beyond SavingBeneath the crimson moon, the man in the scarlet cloak floated in the sky.
Below him, a sea of skeletons roiled, and gigantic bone worms made a dreadful rustling as they weaved through the sand.
He had to admit that he had been caught off guard. After centuries without encountering significant resistance, he had grown somewhat complacent.
A colossal skeletal giant, nearly the size of a mountain, slowly emerged from the ground, reaching out with limbs that could be described as either hands or claws as if it were a tormented soul from hell.
But this wasn't important.
Blood-red raindrops fell, staining a skeletal dragon as it spread its wings, the bony appendages extending over a kilometer wide.
In the face of absolute power, schemes and tricks were ultimately nothing more than feeble antics.
A bone worm, the size of a train, shot out from the ground, its massive, barbed mouth wide open, ready to swallow the man in the cape whole.
In the next second, the worm's head seemed to suffer an invisible but tremendous impact, exploding into fragments, and its huge body crashed to the ground.
The man lightly withdrew his right leg, looking down at the hellish chaos below, a faint smile playing on his lips."What a grand spectacle," he murmured. "Coming here was worth it…"
The next moment, he drew his sword.
"What a pity." He glanced at the ancient desert city, now engulfed by the sea of skeletons. "Such exquisite art, but it's probably beyond saving."
As he finished speaking, a dazzling light condensed on his sword. He turned and slashed toward the sea of skeletons.
There was a brilliant flash of light. Immense energy formed a golden hemisphere on the ground, which then erupted, sweeping across a kilometer, reducing countless skeletal creatures to dust.
Standing at the center of the explosion, the man slowly rose, defiantly tilting his head toward the blood-red moon in the sky.
In the next instant, countless bone whips, like alien tentacles, shot out from the ground, trying to ensnare him.
With a light step, the man slashed away most of the whips, then leaped into the air, intending to evade the remaining ones.
But then, a massive shadow loomed above him as the gigantic skeletal giant’s massive fist descended like a falling meteor.
BOOM!
The giant fist struck the ground heavily, raising a tsunami of dust that blanketed the whole area and creating a fierce sandstorm in the heart of the desert.
This force could be described as apocalyptic.
But, in the next instant, there was another change. A brilliant light shone from beneath the skeletal giant's fist.
Beneath that massive fist, the man, seemingly insignificant in comparison to the colossal giant, was holding off that crushing blow with just his left elbow.
And the glow was merely an immense energy radiating form his sword.
"Impressive power, worthy of me defending against," the man sneered. "But with such a huge body, aren't you just a target?"
With that, he swung his great sword upward.
A dazzling golden crescent shot into the sky a thousand meters high, cleaving the skeletal giant in two. Remnants of golden light at the points of the cut still glowed, seemingly gathering energy.
"Since you're a skeleton, just cutting you in half shouldn't be enough," the man said, turning away. "So, turn to dust."
The golden light exploded.
The colossal giant burned like paper, golden flames reducing it to ash.
"Now then." The man looked up with a crazed smile, taunting the crimson moon. "Who's next in line to die?"

In the underground sealed space, Yaine and the others sat in total silence, the oppressive atmosphere making it hard to breathe.
Just then, the barrier surrounding the space disappeared, and the light from the sunstones on the ceiling illuminated the area once more.
"Alright, come on out. I've set up the barrier for the entire underground area." Myza, with his crystal staff in hand, stepped in. "Hmm? What's with you all? Why do you look like your shaved ice just fell to the ground?"
Hearing Myza's voice, everyone was first stunned, then turned to look at him in amazement.
"Mr. Myza?" Calidora was the first to ask. "Y-you… are alright?"
"Huh? What? Did you all think I was dead?" Myza asked. "Do I look that much of a weakling?"
"No, but that tyrant…" Yaine was still in disbelief. "Did you manage to drive him away?"
"Not quite; otherwise, I wouldn't have needed to set up the outer barriers." Myza sighed, then looked upward. "There's something else fighting him now, so I came down here."
"Something else?" Calidora was taken aback. "Is it that sort of enhanced blood moon?"
"Ah? Oh, you mean the sort you've seen? No, that's not an enhanced blood moon." Myza shook his head. "In fact, it's quite the opposite. That was just an extremely weakened blood moon, just a bit stronger than the usual periodic disturbances."
Calidora and Girunini exchanged glances, seeing the shock in each other's eyes.
They still vividly remembered the terrifying bone dragon, several dozen meters long. If that was an extremely weakened blood moon, what would a true blood moon be like?
"So, you previously said you didn't wish to leave…" Calidora gazed at Myza. "Were you planning to use the blood moon to…"
She couldn't finish her sentence.
This idea was much too insane, so much that she didn't have the courage to voice it.
"Mm, yes. I did intend to kill him." Myza smiled. "Why? Do you genuinely believe it is impossible?"
"Ah, haha." Calidora scratched her cheek sheepishly, implicitly agreeing.
"Then, did you succeed?" Yaine asked. "Or do you think you can succeed?"
"If you had asked me this question yesterday, I would have told you without hesitation that I would definitely succeed." Myza shrugged. "But now, I can only say, I don't know…"
The entire group lapsed into silence once more.
Myza was also somewhat at a loss. When he landed those two punches on the man's face, he realized that even the strongest bone creatures might not be able to inflict significant harm on this man.
That fellow was incredibly tough. Clearly a body of flesh and blood, but that durability was inhuman.
Sighing, Myza took a look around and suddenly had a question. "Hey, where's Liu Ji?"
"Liu Ji?" Yaine was caught by surprise, but then quickly realized. "That pronunciation. Is that his name?"
"Yeah, the little guy with the green hair." Myza nodded. "Where is he?"
"Um, well…" Yaine hesitated for a moment, then picked up the pot with the potato shoot and showed it to Myza. "You might not believe this, but here he is."
