Chapter 171 Danger Arrived
Seeing that Dongfang Yu’er finally fell asleep, Wang Feng forced a smile for he didn’t know whether it was worth to save a woman at the cost of his strength.
Wang Feng glanced at their faces and deeply breathed in. Eventually, he threw aside his feelings and paid all attention to recover.
Although the two beauties were very close to him at the moment—he could even touch them—but he had no intention to think about things like those. No power meant dying in that place, so the most important thing was to seize the time and restore his strength.
They might be safe in the daytime, but at night, real dangers possibly waited for them.
With two women, Wang Feng did not think that he would escape the enemy, for they were big goals. Sooner or later they would go through battles.
After practicing for several hours, although Wang Feng was still far from his peak state, he felt much better than how he was the night before.
By the time Dongfang Yu’er woke up, and saw that Zhong Xiaoqian was still sleeping on Wang Feng’s other leg, that leg had long become numb.
“Do you need some rest?” Dongfang Yu’er glanced at Wang Feng with a red face and asked.
“No.” Wang Feng shook his head and said, “The more hours we spend, the more crazy our enemy will become. I don’t want to become a ghost before I wake up.”
He was right. They had only spent two days there. If one ate less food one day, he could live for two days.
However, what would happen at the third, forth and fifth days? Everyone would fight for food. Even Wang Feng had to participate in the battles because he was not a god; he was just a man who needed to eat. Otherwise, he would have to starve to death.
Maybe Wang Feng could have taken enough food from others if he didn’t need to shield them.
Smarter ones maybe began to crazily kill others at the moment. The amount of food was fixed, so the more they ate, the less food was saved. If they waited until they ate up all their own food, they might as well get nothing from others.
Food is the first necessity for people. What’s the point of grabbing if everybody had already finished their own food? You couldn’t eat people, could you?
It was getting dark. The second night which swept across the land was where was dreadful, driving people to panic.
“We won’t be discovered, will we?” Dongfang Yu’er instinctively approached Wang Feng to at least feel a slight sense of security.
In fact, Wang Feng didn’t disappoint her, for he didn’t panic but flatly said, “What can they do even if they find us? We can hand in our food.”
The former sentence indeed made Dongfang Yu’er feel relieved, but when she heard the later sentence, she wished she could bash his head. What else could they eat if they did so?
They were short of food, as they would spend a week there. They needed enough food to sustain life; otherwise, they might starve to death.
“Of course, it’s just my worst plan. If only a few people come, I can scare them off.” Seeing that Dongfang Yu’er’s expression suddenly changed, Wang Feng hastily added.
“Fine.” Dongfang Yu’er gave a grunt and sat down in silence. She didn’t eat anything but looked warily at the surroundings.
They still had some food at the time, but they had more days to go. They had to economize on food. As long as they went through those hard days, they would be able to eat anything they wanted, couldn’t they?
Although hungry, Dongfang Yu’er could resist.
Wang Feng instead took out the food and put it into his mouth without the least hesitation.
In the past, he could hang on for two or three days without eating, drinking or sleeping. Still, he was very weak at the moment and needed those things to satisfy his hunger. He didn’t ask to be full, but he couldn’t practice on an empty stomach, could he?
“Yours.” After glancing at Dongfang Yu’er who was also starving, Wang Feng knew she wanted food without thinking. After all, she only had little bit of food in a day, how could she not be hungry?
She woul be better off eating something, in the case of an urgency happening in the evening.
“No.” Dongfang Yu’er shook her head without picking up the food.
“Well, I will eat all of it,” Wang Feng said, leaving Dongfang Yu’er stunned.
She was trying her best to save food while he devoured like a wolf. Did he want them to suffer from starvation in the next few days?
Seeing how Wang Feng gorged himself with the food, she really felt the hunger was unbearable, so she could not help but swallow.
Finally, she gave in and picked up the food, for she would rather die with a full stomach than being hungry. Since they might encounter dangers at any time, she decided to eat for storing energy.
Dongfang Yu’er quickly finished it but still wished to eat more.
But she didn’t continue for she felt better at the moment.
By then, Wang Feng had already sat crosslegged and begun practicing.
Seeing Wang Feng who looked calm, Dongfang Yu’er somewhat recalled what she promised to reward him was her first kiss.
Seldom boys dared to talk with her since childhood for she was bad-tempered. Even after joining the army, she was always expressionless, which made many soldiers afraid to make friends with her.
She was a rose with sharp thorns in the troops; anyone who approached her would get hurt.
Therefore, since had never been close to a man, she still kept her first kiss. She was regretting her impetuousness.
The more she thought about it, the more distracted she was, as if her brain was about to burst. How could she say so? It would be too shameless.
However, just when she finished thinking, shed suddenly stiffened, because she had heard a strange noise coming from nearby, which was the sound of human feet stepping on those dead branches.
Wang Feng opened his eyes as well and made a gesture, signalling for her to keep quiet.
They were attacked the last night; unexpectedly someone else was also targetting them. The sound of footsteps suggested that not many people were approaching, but the noise showed they were at least two people.
Of course, Dongfang Yu’er could only tell the number from hearing, while Wang Feng had already seen how many people were coming with his X-ray vision.
Only two people arrived, those who were frightened off by Wang Feng the day before, which left him somewhat speechless.
He had kindly let them go, but he didn’t expect they would come back. Did they think he was a coward?
He had to say, they may have chosen the right time since Wang Feng didn’t have much power. He was at most a paper tiger just then.
That time, they were in danger...
