Chapter 260 - Birthday plans
Police station...
Lu Yifeng had his arms crossed and he looked at his children with a scolding gaze. His eyes were narrowed, rigid, cold, hard. He was awfully quiet, he never said a word to them. At that moment the kids knew that they were dead. Despite Lu Mello being old enough, he forgot to bring his driver’s license so their parents were called.
At first, the policemen who caught them didn’t believe that they were children from THE infamous Lu Mello since they were not able to show any IDs. They thought that they were spoiled rich kids who were speeding in the middle of the night. The policemen never thought they were saying the truth when they saw Lu Yifeng enter the station.
Their father was obviously in a bad mood when he came and picked them up. It was not because of them being caught by the police but it was actually because they disturbed his alone time with his wife.
The children followed behind him, their heads low. Their imaginary cat ears and tails were down. It was such a comical scene when Xia Meilin saw them like that as they followed their father inside their place.
Lu Yifeng sat on the couch, sitting on it as if it was his throne while his cold gaze landed on his children. He finally opened his mouth just so he could ask them one simple question, "How old are you all?"
This time, Xia Meilin didn’t come to their rescue. Instead, she stood beside her husband and was crossing her arms. She already told them not to drive above the speed limit.
Lu Mello scratched his nape and smiled a bit as he finally turned his guilty look to his parents, "I’m sorry dad, mom. It’s my fault so don’t blame my sisters."
Just before Lu Yifeng could say a word, his wife took the words out of his mouth, "Good that you know. You are their older brother, you are supposed to be putting them out of trouble. You should be watching out for them."
The boy’s smile became stiff and once again, he lowered his head. His mother was scarier than his father when angry. Aside from that, she was pregnant so he didn’t want to say something that could only stress her more.
"Mom, Dad, please don’t blame it all on Gege. We were the ones who rushed him earlier and told him to drive faster." Lu Weichun said in defense of her brother.
"And that only makes it worse! He shouldn’t have listened. As your older brother, he should be more responsible."
The older twin pursed her lips and dropped her head. She only wanted to help her brother. On the other hand, Lu Xingyan knew that it was better for them to stay silent and accept the scoldings from their mother so she remained quiet.
"Also, how can you forget your driver’s license? You’re supposed to have it all the time! I think we should confiscate your cars, Mello."
Lu Yifeng stood up and placed his hand on his wife’s waist, "I think that’s enough scolding. They have learned their lesson so let this serve as a warning for now." He caressed her side gently, trying to console and calm her. "Come, we should go to bed now. Staying up this late wouldn’t be good for you or the baby."
As their father was able to successfully distract their mother, the kids took the opportunity to quietly leave the room and climb upstairs, rushing to the bedroom.
Xia Meilin turned only to see their children escaped. She looked at Lu Yifeng and sighed, "You are supposed to scold them."
"But you scolded them enough for me." He chuckled. "Don’t be mad at them anymore, I’m sure that they have learned their lesson."
She sighed, "I’m not mad. Just frustrated."
The side of his lips curled up into a smirk, "S.e.xually?"
Xia Meilin blushed, flabbergasted.
...
Inside the twin’s room...
Lu Xingyan and her sister were lying on the bed with their older brother in between them who had a laptop on top of him. They were currently watching a movie that way.
"Gege, how things between you and Yaoyao-jiejie?" Lu Weichun suddenly asked while they were in the middle of watching the movie.
"I haven’t seen her for a while but I think we’re doing fine." He replied, his eyes locked on the screen.
She sighed heavily, "It’s not fair that dad’s fine with you dating while he’s not fine with us dating."
"I’m not dating Xiao Yao yet. Also, you and Xiao Xing are still young, you should just focus on studying first. Don’t rush things especially love."
Lu Weichun pursed her lips and hugged his arm. He was right, she rushed things with Fan Jingli and look at where it got her?"
"Sister Yaoyao’s birthday is coming up, right?" Lu Xingyan turned to her brother and smiled, "Are you going to plan a surprise for her?"
Lu Mello: "Ah, Xiao Xi messaged me about it earlier. We’re planning on giving Xiao Yao a surprise party."
"Xiao Xi?" Lu Weichun asked, blinking a few times.
"Shi Enxi. She’s Xiao Yao’s best friend."
Lu Weichun scoffed upon hearing that name. She mumbled with disdain, "I can’t believe that you’re friends with her."
"Speaking of my birthday, isn’t cousin Mengjie’s birthday closeby too? It’s only two days after sister Xiao Yao’s birthday." Lu Xingyan turned to look at her sister. "It’s in our exam week. I don’t think we will be able to celebrate it with them."
"What? No way!" Lu Weichun pouted. "I want to give sister Yaoyao a surprise too and celebrate Mengmeng’s birthday! She always gives fun and big parties! I’m not going to miss it!"
Lu Xingyan didn’t have a problem going since even if she studied at the last minute, she could easily pass the tests but her sister was different. She would need time to study if she wanted to pass the exams.
