The Chief Minister’s Ferocious Wife

Chapter 59 - 59 Can't Afford This Kind of Brother

59 Can’t Afford This Kind of Brother
Without any expression on his face, Xie Heng pressed the red-hot tongs onto Zhao Xing’s thigh, and the smell of charred flesh permeated the kitchen right away.

Zhao Xing rolled on the floor while clutching his leg. Soon, his screaming alarmed other people elsewhere in the village.

Xie Heng put away the tongs again and reminded Zhao Chuchu, “It’s time to take them out of the pot.”

Zhao Chuchu came to her senses and was a little stunned.

The sense of aggression that exuded from Xie Heng just now didn’t at all befit that of a young scholar.

But upon closer inspection, it seemed as if she had imagined it.

Did Xie Heng put the tongs in the fire right as she mentioned that someone was coming?

“They are burnt.” Xie Heng frowned slightly as if displeased that Zhao Chuchu had ruined the sesame balls he had made.

As for Zhao Xing, who was still yelling and screaming on the floor, Xie Heng seemed to have zero acknowledgment of his presence in front of him.

“Hurry up!”

Zhao Chuchu, “…”

She took the bamboo strainer and fished out the over-cooked sesame balls.

They could hear those rushing footsteps getting closer.

Xie Heng calmly arranged the things on the kitchen counter.

After a while, the villagers arrived.

Everyone was stunned by the sight of Zhao Xing rolling on the ground.

And the smell in the kitchen drew everyone’s eyes to the stove.

There was also a small plate of sesame balls on the counter.

“What… what’s going on?” an older villager asked. “What’s wrong with Zhao Xing?”

“Help me!! Xie Heng is going to kill me,” Zhao Xing immediately shouted when he saw people coming. “Hurry up and tie him up.”

However, everyone in Lengshui Village knew what kind of person Zhao Xing was.

Looking at the situation, it was not hard to see that Zhao Xing was the one who instigated the trouble at hand.

Zhao Xing’s family was nowhere near, and Xie Heng and Zhao Chuchu did not have a good relationship with Zhao Xing—they wouldn’t invite him to their house.

The only possibility was that Zhao Xing came over when he smelled the delicious food that they were making!

At that moment, Niu Tongsheng arrived at the scene in a hurry. “What happened?”

“Village chief, you have to be a fair judge of the matter. I came to see my sister Zhao Chuchu out of concern. But, instead, Xie Heng tried to kill me…”

“Da Lang is actually too nice. If someone hadn’t come over, I would have killed you myself!” Zhao Chuchu interrupted Zhao Xing. “It’s one thing to come to my house and rob me, but it’s quite another matter when you want to sell me to a brothel as a prostitute! I can’t afford to have a brother like you!”

When Niu Tongsheng heard Zhao Chuchu’s words, his face suddenly fell.

“Zhao Xing, you bastard!”

No one doubted Zhao Chuchu’s words.

Because there was absolutely nothing too lowly that Zhao Xing wouldn’t consider doing.

And it was not the first time that he tried to sell Zhao Chuchu off!

Zhao Xing hurriedly defended himself. “This is slander. How can I do such a thing?”

“Our house is nowhere close to the village’s entrance, and it’s more than half a village away from your house. So how do you explain the fact that you barged into my house uninvited?”

“I got lost.”

“Got lost? Da Lang can’t see. So it’s no wonder for him to mistake you as a criminal with bad intentions.”

“My boy, who hurt you like this?” At the same time, someone must have gone to Zhao Xing’s house to alert his mother. When his mother arrived, she burst into tears. “Village chief, you must help my son and uphold justice, and the person who hurt my son has to pay money for it…”

“It seems that all of you from the Zhao clan are dying to go to the county court. All right, I still have all the confession letters.” Zhao Chuchu chuckled softly. “I wonder what kind of charge it would be for breaking into someone’s house in the middle of the night?”

Zhao Xing’s mother immediately stopped her howling and dared not to keep crying nonsense.

Xie Heng said nonchalantly, “Let’s press charges so as not to argue endlessly in the middle of the night.”

Zhao Xing panicked as soon as he heard that they were going to press charges.

“Mother, let’s go back. We are unlucky, but we won’t stoop to their level. Let’s go quickly.” Zhao Xing endured the pain, got up quickly from the ground, and began limping his way out.

However, Xie Heng said slowly, “Wait a moment and put the things down. Don’t think you can get away with taking what’s ours in a frenzy.”
