Xie Li didn't think that Qu Xing Xu would let go of his sword. He was the enemy leader but there was someone working behind him, the mastermind and also, his master.
He was given more than a hundred men and weapons to use for this confrontation. They were supposed to ambush the young Duke that made his master shiver under his blanket. And yet, everything didn't go as planned as the Duke of Xin came to their camp himself.
Of course, not to visit and have tea. But to give them a surprise and massacre his men.
Xie Li had heard of the stories that happened many years ago where Qu Xing Xu led his army to the war and those stories held thousands of wonders and fascination in the young soldiers fighting tonight. Even he, an old commander of a small army had to nod his head and acknowledge the young Duke.
But he couldn't understand why would Qu Xing Xu let go of his sword when his glaive was about to come down and slice him to two.
"Do you think just because you're unarmed, I won't kill you?! Boy, don't be naive as I will rip your head off and kill you!" Shouted Xie Li. His glaive was about to touch the shoulder of Qu Xing Xu.
Xie Li expected blood to be splashed at him and see the young Duke in front of him sliced in half. However, he didn't know why his vision was seeing red.
Slowly, he could see Qu Xing Xu standing up and putting his hands behind his back as if he was just standing there leisurely and was watching a play. He didn't look like he had been struggling to keep up with the enemy leader and looked as immaculate as he was when he left the tavern.
Xie Li tried to talk but his voice only came out into gurgling sounds.
Even his vision was becoming strange as he saw the right side of his sight was starting to go down.
What was happening? Xie Li thought as his hand reached for his face. His glaive fell from his hand and cause a ringing sound when it fell on the ground.
Not far from where they were, one of Qu Xing Xu's men was engaging a battle with an enemy soldier. It did look like it was a tough one as the two of them were breathing hard. But with how the opponent of the enemy soldier was getting stronger, it seems that the weakness earlier was just a facade.
The soldier wanted to swallow but it was hard to do that when his opponent was gaining speed. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see the large build of his leader, who looked like he was winning against the Duke.
However, it didn't take long before fear crept up to his throat when he saw Qu Xing Xu letting go of his sword and at the same time, a blade came out of his sleeve.
The silver light that reflected from the blade in Qu Xing Xu's hand almost blinded him. He wanted to shout for his leader and tell him about the blade but he was too late.
As fast as lightning, Qu Xing Xu's hands swiped upward before he lowered the blade, blood was dripping down to the ground as Xie Li was starting to realize that something was wrong.
Xie Li's face was sliced in half. The right half of it was slipping down hence, why he's right vision was acting strange.
He tried to keep it up together with his other half. But even after he succeeded in doing that, it won't be long before he died.
Flicking the blood off from the blade, Qu Xing Xu smiled down on him. He was feeling extremely good tonight. Lin Xiaofei's reply did more effect on him than he thought.
He planned at first to wait for the enemy's ambush and try to play along with them. But with her letter and commanding her to go back, Qu Xing Xu had better obey like a good husband to his wife.
Honestly, he didn't have to personally exchange blows with Xie Li. His men would take care of him one way or another during the ambush. Even his men thought this as well.
Their master didn't have to come forward and use his sword to slash the enemy. Nine men, experts in the act of killing would take care of the hundred enemies without a problem. Still, after their master got a letter of challenge from someone, he suddenly proposed to ambush the enemy ahead of time and even personally fought with the enemy leader.
With Qu Xing Xu's strange behavior, the soldiers couldn't help but wonder what kind of person was this sender to make their master act like a lunatic.
After a quarter of an hour, smoke rose from the enemy camp. The crackling of fire after the chaos was filled tranquility as Qu Xing Xu and his men finished the fight without harm.
"What should we do with the enemy leader?" One of his men asked while standing behind him.
Qu Xing Xu didn't turn around, "Send his head to his master and attach a letter of warning to them. I won't tolerate any of their actions anymore nor will I allow them to interfere with my business."
"What about the women in one of the tents?" The guard asked. It wasn't new to have slaves in a camp. An army would always have a tent for female slaves as they would need to relieve their frustrations and even satisfy themselves. This was normal in war.
However, Qu Xing Xu had no uses for female slaves, "Kill them all." He said and turned towards his horse. Sympathy for slaves that could turn out to be a spy or an assassin, he had enough of them and don't have the emotion to feel pity for them.
Besides, if he softens his heart - which will never happen in this lifetime - and save these female slaves, what would his bride think of him when she heard of it?
It is better to expel any hazardous ideas that could ruin his relationship with Lin Xiaofei. With that in thought, Qu Xing Xu felt satisfied and was ready to go back home, not knowing what was about to happen when he arrives back to the Qu residence.

There will be a festival going on in my city and all Signals and Internet will be cut off from Sept. 25-30. At that time, I won't be able to update or reply to any of your messages.
After the festival, I hope that everything will go back so I can update.
It's such a bummer not being able to use the internet at all while my city's still implementing total lockdown. I don't even understand my city's government anymore.
