Chapter 747: Good News
Buying private hospitals and hiring experts to develop new medicines…
Yao Ran burned with envy. She couldn’t help but compare?Qin Man’s efforts to that of?Madam Meng. It wasn’t hard to see who truly loved her daughter.
When she failed the Music Association’s assessment,?Qin Man?had been furious and almost chased?Yao Ran?out of their home.
She was nothing more than a tool for her mother to show off to society. If she complained even once, Qin Man?would scold and even beat her up.
In contrast, Meng Ling?had this lavish room to herself, with her mother fussing over her every move. She was treated like a princess.
All Qin Man?ever did for?Yao Ran?was to plot her future and ensure that everything went according to plan.
Through her bitterness, Yao Ran?still felt the nagging sense that something was wrong. If the experts had taken ten years to develop the cure, then that meant that had to expend much effort and money into it.
Why would Madam Meng?offer it to others so easily?
They weren’t even close to begin with!
What bothered her the most was Madam Meng’s overly eager attitude. It just didn’t feel right to?Yao Ran, though she couldn’t say for certain why.
Taking advantage of their mother’s conversation, Yao Ran?quietly approached?Meng Ling’s side, intending to take a better look at the latter’s wrist.
She raised her hand and was about to reach for it when Meng Ling?nimbly dodged the attempt.
Meng Ling hurriedly pulled her hand back under the blanket and screamed, her face mottled with pain.
“Sorry! I’m so sorry! I only wanted to see how your wrist is healing.”
Yao Ran put on an apologetic smile, but her eyes were still trained on?Meng Ling’s hand. Her gaze glimmered with curiosity.
“I’m sorry, Ranran,”?Madam Meng?hurried over, noticing how panicked her daughter’s reaction was. “Ever since the operation,?Lingling?has not allowed anyone to touch her wrist. The doctor said that she has some psychological trauma relating to her injury. We’ll address it once her physical state is better.”
“Sorry, Ranran,”?Meng Ling?said meekly. “I don’t mean to be rude to you.”
Even as she said that, her free hand clutched the blanket protectively over her injured wrist. “I just don’t react well to people touching me. I hope you understand.”
Qin Man nodded with sympathy.
“That’s perfectly normal. My Ranran?is also quite protective of her ankle. Don’t worry about it.” After dismissing the ruckus, she turned back to?Madam Meng. “Ranran?was too clumsy and ran into an accident. We were honestly running out of options until we heard about your research.”
“Don’t mention it. We used to be neighbors, anyway, so it’s only natural that we extend our help when you are in need.”
Madam Meng had a magnanimous smile on her face. “The doctor will be here any minute now. He’ll do a check-up on?Ranran?and when there is nothing wrong, he will proceed with the surgery.”
Qin Man nodded in satisfaction.
Yao Ran, however, became even more uneasy.
And yet, she still couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Moments later, a doorbell rang, and Aunt Liu?opened the door to a doctor standing out in the hallway.
“Madam, the doctor is here.”
Madam Meng motioned for the physician to come over. “Let’s get to it, then. We shouldn’t delay the child’s treatment any longer.”
“Please take care of my daughter,” Qin Man?said politely.
She wanted this matter to be over and done with as soon as possible.
Soon enough, Yao Ran?was brought into a lab filled with all sorts of machines. After a round of going through every single one of them, she was escorted back to the VIP ward.
“How did it go?” Meng Ling?asked as soon as she stepped inside, looking strangely anxious. “What did they say? Is there any possibility of a full recovery? Will you be able to walk normally in the future?”
She asked the questions in rapid-fire succession, as if she was desperate to hear the answers.
If one didn’t know any better, one would think that Meng Ling?was the injured one and not?Yao Ran.
The doctor came in just then. He had a report in his hand and a big smile on his face. “I am happy to inform you that Miss Yao’s overall health is suited to our medicine’s properties. We can begin the treatment shortly.”
Qin Man heaved an inward sigh of relief. This was good news, indeed.
“Will she be able to walk normally again?”
The doctor nodded confidently. “We cannot say that there are no risks involved, nor can we guarantee 100% recovery. But if the surgery is successful, she has a 90% chance at a full recovery.”
