Chapter 379: Heartache

Yao Ran sighed. “It’s my fault for being born. If I hadn’t, she wouldn’t have lost everything,” she murmured. “She must really hate me. I shouldn’t even be here in the first place.”

A bitter smile crossed her face.

Aunt Zhang rapidly shook her head. “None of this is your fault,” she protested. “She can only blame her bad luck for being carried away by the wrong person. Please don’t blame yourself for this.”

She comforted the young woman repeatedly before she finally had the courage to walk into the room.

Disappear from this world...

If Yao Tang were to disappear from this world, wouldn’t Miss Yao Ranbe able to stay in the Yao Familyfor as long as she lived? No one would dare bully her anymore.

At the thought, her eyes flashed.

If the girl simply disappeared, then everything would return to normal. Her boss and Old Madam Yao wouldn’t be fighting as much anymore, and Yao Ranwould live the life she deserved. She had a plan.

When Yao Ran had finally entered the private room, everyone was already seated.

Qin Man originally wanted Yao Ranto sit next to Yang Nian, but as soon as she walked in, Old Madam Yaohad already arranged for him to sit next to her right instead.

Yao Tang was seated on her left.

...

Yao Yuan was seated next to Yang Nian, so there was no other place for her.

There was a pause in Yao Ran’s steps when she saw where everyone had seated themselves. Her fingers twitched as she glanced at the seat next to Qin Man.

Regaining her smile, she sat down next to her mother as if nothing had happened.

However, the older woman was more than displeased by the recent turn of events.

“Didn’t I tell you to come earlier?” she whispered into Yao Ran’s ear. “But you even decided to talk to Aunt Zhang. Are you happy now? Is this what you wanted?”

Yao Ran was silent this entire time.

Although a part of her was unhappy with the arrangement, she had already expected that she wouldn’t be able to get a good seat either way—even if she were to ask for it.

However, she couldn’t help but feel a little uncomfortable from her mother’s continuous lecture. “I’m sorry,” she murmured to her mother before turning to look at Yang Nian.

The man seemed to be looking elsewhere.

When Yao Ran followed his gaze, she saw that he was looking at Grandma Yao’s arm.

Not only was the arm pinched red and purple, but her skin also appeared to be quite pale. It was an abnormal sight—like the skin was gradually turning worse by the second.

Yao Ran snickered silently. It seemed the perfect Yao Tangwasn’t as perfect after all. She still had the chance to make things right.

“Grandma, how’s your wound?”

However, when she saw Old Madam Yao glaring at her, she quickly explained, “It’s really my fault. I’m so sorry—”

“Grandma knows that you’re just worried about her, don’t think too much.” Yao Yaun waved his hand dismissively.

Hearing her father’s words, Yao Ran sighed in relief. She slowly took out the bottle from her pocket and walked over to Old Madam Yao, ignoring the woman’s cold gaze.

“Let me help you clean your wound and apply this ointment,” she said softly. “I won’t feel at ease if you don’t let me help you.”

Yang Nian’s eyes lit in surprise. “How did you get this ointment?”

“This ointment?” Yao Ran waved the object in her hand, pretending to be confused. “It was given to me by a friend of mine.”

He nodded.

“Grandma Yao, the ointment Yao Ran is holding is quite rare. Why don’t you try it? I’m sure, it will heal your bruise quickly.” Yang Niansmiled kindly, motioning the old woman to the ointment.
