168 The Republic?!
“It has to be the fault of that rogue organization. Admit it.... ever since that woman took charge of the Bloodgarde they have been running around like hooligans doing whatever they please...”
“Like I have said before we need to confiscate her fleet and arrest all the members of the Bloodgarde. Tear down that criminal organization!”
“I second that....”
“I agree as well....”
“We should vote on it.”
These voices of angry men and women casting stones at Marshal Yi and the Bloodgarde were the group of prime ministers ruling the federation in place of the monarch.
The entire discussion was centered on the recent indiscriminatory attacks sweeping through the entire federation.
Well, indiscriminatory might not be the right word because the attacks were targetting a particular group.
After careful examination, an unexpected pattern had emerged. On each of the attacked planets, the portals never opened in the slums or middle-class society.
.....
They would always appear in affluent areas where the wealthy wine and dined or important federation buildings and manufacturing sights.
If one analyzed the situation carefully it seemed these attacks were meant to cripple the federation. If these random attacks were happening to disadvantaged communities they wouldn’t have gathered urgently in person to have this meeting.
Marshal Yi who was sitting at the far end of the table was rubbing his forehead in frustration. His hair seemed a little thin and his eyes were puffy like he hadn’t slept at all in the past couple of days.
He would have retired by now and handed over military power to them before taking his family away that is if it weren’t for the ancestors before him. The room descended into chaos as two factions began to argue with each other like preschoolers. Their voices were loud with some talking over each other and others almost breaking into a fist fight.
Marshal Yi was about to restore order when the door that was closed shut was pushed open. Two men walked in and behind them was a face familiar to all of them.
Everyone’s expressions turned colorful seeing her. Some were frightened beyond words while others were gasping in horror. Some even had disgusted expressions but Zi Xingxi didn’t care.
She had spent the entire day beating the shit out of others in underground mech battles when Lynn Feng told her that these idiots were having a little gathering and planned to do a little vote to take her and the Bloodgarde down.
Her body covered in blood she walked over and sat right at the head of the table making sure to put her feet up.
The room fell into silence as they followed her figure with their eyes. She took out the royal family’s medallion and with a loud bang, she placed it on the table causing a few people to jolt in fright.
After the initial shock wore off one of the brazen prime ministers stood up abruptly causing their chair to fall over with a loud thud.
“Guards arrest her!!!” he roared and soon a few others echoed but despite their shouts, no one showed up. It was as though they hadn’t heard them.
Zi Xingxi smiled slyly while playfully spinning the medallion on the table. Seeing that smile the prime minister decided to take matters into his own hands. He drew his weapon and shouted, “Zi Xingxi, you are under arrest for crimes committed against the federation.”
Zi Xingxi found his reaction quite amusing. What crimes against the federation? She executed criminals sucking the life out of the federation. She was only doing the job entrusted to her by the royal family.
A low chuckle escaped her throat as she gazed at the prime minister pointing a laser gun at her.
Her response further infuriated the prime minister and his finger subconsciously moved to the trigger. Seeing this Zi Xingxi wasn’t at all panicked.
She calmly stared at him with a leisurely gaze while saying, “You need to ask yourself if you are prepared to accept the consequences of drawing your weapon on me....”
“Prime minster Ioane, you have one gun..... me on the other hand, I have an entire armed cruiser right behind me.”
As soon as she said this a cruiser with all its weapons engaged appeared behind her. They could see it through the floor-to-ceiling windows as its camouflage slowly disappeared revealing itself.
“I also have a warship with cannon blasters powerful enough to blow holes into Capital Star so... why don’t put away that toy gun of yours and sit down obediently.”
“You!.....,” yelled prime minister Ioane the veins on his temples throbbing.
“How can you say that?! You and your family would die along with us,” yelled prime minister De La Cruz trying to expose her bluff.
Zi Xingxi chortled before replying, “I died the day the Royal family died so I am prepared to die.... as for my family..... they would have already left the planet before I give the order.”
Marshal Yi knew she would do it thus he raised his hand and gestured for the prime minister to holster his weapon and sit down.
Gritting his teeth prime minister Ioane sat down and the others didn’t dare call out for her arrest.
“Now that’s out of the way you can carry on with your discussion..... where were we?” she said acting as though she had been around since the beginning.
After a short silence, prime minister ××× of Capital Star spoke up first. “We have verified suspicions that you and your band of criminals have something to do with the recent attacks. Do you deny this allegation?”
Zi Xingxi smiled evilly at this old man and replied, “Verified.... ha. And what would my motive be if I may ask? What would I gain from this?” she said while placing her entwined hands behind her head, “Pray do tell.”
“It’s because you blame us for failing your duty. It was you who failed to protect his royal highness but yo-..... Ah, shit,” swore the prime minister when one of the men accompanying Zi Han took off his heavy-duty issued boot it at him. That person also happened to be secretary K.
After hearing such slanderous nonsense he made sure that the culprit ate his boot just to shut him up.
“What is wrong with you!”
“Attacking one of the prime ministers of the federation is punishable by death!”
“Take him down!”
Zi Xingxi soon got tired of the noise so she drew her handgun and shot up the ceiling.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Screams and sounds of chairs scratching the floor filled the room as some people hid underneath the table.
“Instead of focusing on the Bloodgarde who have no other interests apart from sweeping filth out of the governance of the Federation..... you need to shift your focus on an old enemy lost in history,” she said and the room fell back into silence again.
“The Republic?!”
Zi Xingxi’s lips shrugged as he watched these cowering idiots.
“You are mad!”
“How can the Republic possess such an ability?”
