473 Severe Consequences

Of course, while we were "resting" in the shade, Ember and I were already busy doing remote work.

During the preparation stage of teleportation, Ember had already left a marker on all living beings that were included in her range. Using those markers, we kept track of their movements and teleported those who were about to get injured or had already gotten injured.

After all, there are just two of us, and there are over three million residents. Even if we divide it equally, that's still over a million markers each! It's hard to keep watch and teleport them only right before they get injured.

Fortunately, the demons only breached a total of three points, so the number of residents getting attacked in one instant was limited.

"Here they come..."

I warned Ember as soon as I saw the same energy signatures before rushing toward our location. As expected, it was the old man with the tall crown, panting hard with his face turning blue.

"Y-YOU SET US UP!"

He quickly roared as soon as he reached our position, pointing a finger right at my face.

"YOU DROPPED US IN THE MIDDLE OF A DEMON HORDE ON PURPOSE!"

He claimed.

Well, he's not wrong about that, but we just did what he requested in the first place.

"This is the previous location of your kingdom, was it not? You only asked for us to return you, and we did. Whatever happens afterward is none of our business."

"NO, YOU HAVE TO PROTECT US! IT IS WRITTEN ON THE CONTRACT WE SIGNED BEFORE!"

"Pfft...!"

I couldn't help but laugh at his outburst. The old man looked like he was about to boil over, his face turning completely red.

"Right, the contract did have a section stating that we are to protect you, but..."

I once again activated my God's Master aura, enhancing the intimidating air around me.

"... That was only IF you were within the predefined zone of the contract. Again, where are we right now?"

The protection clause only works if they're in position around the Heaven's Republic! Thus, now that they asked for us to teleport them "back" to where they came from, the clause could no longer apply to them.

The look on the old man's face was priceless!

After giving him a few more seconds of respite, I then finally took out a stack of paper from my [Spatial Storage]. It was, of course, the new, upgraded contract!

"Of course, we're not heartless enough to ignore your plight."

I spoke while trying to evoke empathy with my voice.

"As such, we are offering you to sign another contract, which would allow us to give you support for the current situation."

*GRAB!*

As if unable to wait for me to give it to him, he nabbed it out of my grasp and moved as if about to sign it instantly.

"..."

However, probably after reading the title on the front page, he raised a brow and began to skim through the document. As he did, his face turned darker and darker with every page he went through.

"BULLSH*T!"

He cried.

"This is not an alliance, but slavery!"

"Ohh! Looks like you still have good eyes, old man."

I praised him as I pinched the documents, pulling them out of his hands.

"Judging from your reaction, you don't plan on signing, right? Then I'll be taking this back. Good luck!"

I let the contract dangle as I slowly brought it closer to me. The old man's expression kept rolling from anger, fear, anxiety, and despair before finally grabbing my wrist.

"Wait... We'll sign it,"

he said as if giving up.

His voice lacked energy and confidence as he took back the documents before taking out a quill and ink and signing them all in one go. The entire time, he looked like he was about to cry tears of blood.

"Done? Lemme check..."

After he finished, I checked if he had signed it properly and nodded. To not lose it, I immediately placed it inside my [Spatial Storage] before turning to Ember and nodding.

"As you wish, Master."

This time, I could feel the transition occur.

18:43

Ember stood up and, unlike before, let her Space Energy spread out at a rapid pace. Unlike before, when she was slowly marking every single living being, she only needed to fill the space with energy now. Everything was already marked, after all.

"Here goes!"

Ember warned as the surroundings glowed in a blue light before a loud buzzing sound echoed in our ears.

*VUOOOOOON!*

This time, I could feel the transition occur.

The air around us changed instantly as the demons that were within our detection range vanished at once. The residents, running around in panic, started to look around in confusion, standing in place.

As soon as we returned to their "slot" near Heaven's Republic, we also began teleporting the rescued humans, monsters, and beasts to their previous position... It was hard to remember everyone's exact location, of course, so it was just a rough "guesstimate." They shouldn't be far from home, at least.

After we were done, I quickly checked the time. When we started, it was marked as 9:33 a.m. and now it was 9:41 a.m. Not even 10 minutes have passed yet!

"Nice! At this pace, we can probably cover all 10 locations on the list today!"

I patted Ember's head as a reward for giving it her best. It wasn't random at all, of course, as it was what the person herself requested before we began. Honestly, I feel bad that a head pat was the only reward she was asking for.

The strain from teleporting such a wide area, including such large numbers of tamers, citizens, monsters, and beasts, should be pretty heavy!

"Ehehe~!"

However, looking at her face without a hint of fatigue, I couldn't help but wonder if she was even getting tired.

"Alright, well then, let's go to the next one!"

Of course, Ember and I ignored the old man who fell to his knees, with a face as if he had just signed a contract with the devil. Join me in my lonely discord server: https://discord.gg/DEVbwSbZUh
