Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 219: Distance (5)Chapter 219: Distance (5)
"An all-out and direct attack might be troublesome since we are going to fight with the elves of this world," Cresta said. "The enemy will get nervous and will do anything to fight back once they see a bigger army. Thus, it would put them in danger."
"We just have to defeat their leaders before they can try anything," Daaris said.
"That possibility exists, but a battle between people of our level will certainly spread a lot of destruction," Cinia said. "We already destroyed many parts of this world with our battles. We should work to prevent that."
Daaris and Osdon let out a long sigh. It looked like they wanted to complain as to why they were worried about that when they had better things to do. Still, at least they were trying to hide their displeasure and be minimally cooperative. That wasn't an exactly bad attitude, but it certainly needed a lot of work.
"While our goal is to obtain the resources, we can't risk letting the enemies escape," Yphi said. "I think an attack on two fronts is our best option. Surround the enemies and then invade their fortress to prevent them from doing so."
Luke knew that this group wasn't that much powerful, but he didn't expect to see them discussing their battle plans like that. Still, that only showed how much they couldn't afford to lose and how cautious they were. Hopefully, they will be able to arrive at a middle ground everyone would be satisfied with. The only problem was the fact that they seemed to self-centered. It was only normal that they wouldn't expect much from those that having figthing for a lot fewer time than them, but Luke still found that troublesome.
"Even with an attack on two fronts, the enemy might escape," Cresta said. "They will look for the weakest side, and they will use everything to crush that side and escape."
"That is why I said a direct and all-out attack would be the best option," Osdon said.
"What if we use the two fronts to attack, but with the help of the elves?" Luke asked.
"I don't understand what you mean by that. The elves naturally will participate in the battle."
"What I mean is… to use their support magic," Luke said. "I don't know much about how you people can spawn monsters, but I imagine you can't make more than four thousand every day. Hence, by using the support of the elves, we can increase by fifty percent a single parameter of one of your armies."
"I suppose that might work…" Cresta said while considering that. "If we use their skills, neither side will grow weaker, and they won't be able to escape, but there is still the matter with the overlords. We will have to strike them down before they do anything harsh in an attempt to escape."
"Rina, Shalia, and I can face one of them, Amanda's group can offer support to one of you, and the reasoning four can work in pairs to defeat the others," Luke said.
Richter looked like he wanted to say something, but he was smart enough to understand that just saying that he could defeat an overlord as well wouldn't be enough. He had shown it with actions. Luke could see some tension and eagerness on his face, it seemed like he was fearing that he was getting behind if compared to him. He was a bit naive in that regard, and had the leisure to worry about that.
"What do you guys think of that?" Cresta asked.
"I suppose that is for the best," Yphi said.
"I don't need help," Osdon said.
"Me neither," Daaris said.
"Since that is the case, Yphi and I will just watch you tap fight," Cinia declared. "Cresta should work with them. Whoever defeats the enemy first hurry up and goes to help the others."
"That is right. We can't risk taking our time fighting and losing all of our forces," Cresta said.
No one seemed like they had a better plan, so the group proceeded to talk how their actions during the attack. Luke asked how the targets usually fight, but while Cresta and the others could see their weapons, they never saw them fighting.
"We will attack them in three days. Until then, use your troops to get used to the formation we will use," Cresta declared. "We will see each other in three days."
In the end, Cresta made the moving fortress fall, and the others jumped from it when they got closer to the mountain. Rina began to work in selecting the elves that would work in supporting the offensive team. Meanwhile, Luke decided to learn Spearmanship and practice it with as much as possible. However, Richer asked Luke to spar with him. He wanted to become stronger… At any cost.
"Wouldn't it be better to just hunt monsters and follow the usual path?" Luke asked.
"She said that I am lacking battle experience and that I am only stronger because of her powers," Richter explained. "So, I need to face someone who has more experience and is stronger, but not by much."
"Your sister said that?" Luke frowned.
"My partner," Richter replied,
Luke frowned even more, when he heard that. The voice of the shadow was genderless, but considering how gloomy it was, Luke assumed it belonged to a grumpy male. In any case, Richter sure was naive if she was thinking that a training done in three days would actually help him… then again, four months ago, Luke didn't have the strength to do a single pull up, and now he probably can knock out a car with a single kick.
"Sure, why not?" Luke asked.
Luke had to get used to fighting with a spear since he probably couldn't buy anything decent for less than fifty thousand gold coins.. While he had more than enough to buy it, he decided to save it to buy a red crystal and create a decent base on Earth.
